'Time' in the Bible
But those upon the rock, those who when they hear receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a time, and in time of trial fall away.
And as he got out of the ship on the land, a certain man out of the city met him, who had demons a long time, and put on no clothes, and did not abide in a house, but in the tombs.
Hypocrites, ye know how to judge of the appearance of the earth and of the heaven; how is it then that ye do not discern this time?
Now at the same time there were present some who told him of the Galileans whose blood Pilate mingled with that of their sacrifices.
From the time that the master of the house shall have risen up and shall have shut the door, and ye shall begin to stand without and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, open to us; and he answering shall say to you, I know you not whence ye are:
The law and the prophets were until John: from that time the glad tidings of the kingdom of God are announced, and every one forces his way into it.
And he would not for a time; but afterwards he said within himself, If even I fear not God and respect not man,
who shall not receive manifold more at this time, and in the coming age life eternal.
saying, Go into the village over against you, in which ye will find, on entering it, a colt tied up, on which no child of man ever sat at any time: loose it and lead it here.
And he began to speak to the people this parable: A man planted a vineyard and let it out to husbandmen, and left the country for a long time.
And he said, See that ye be not led astray, for many shall come in my name, saying, I am he, and the time is drawn nigh: go ye not therefore after them.
And after a short time another seeing him said, And thou art of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not.
And he said the third time to them, What evil then has this man done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will chastise him therefore and release him.
No one has seen God at any time; the only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
Nicodemus says to him, How can a man be born being old? can he enter a second time into the womb of his mother and be born?
Jesus seeing this man lying there, and knowing that he was in that state now a great length of time, says to him, Wouldest thou become well?
And the Father who has sent me himself has borne witness concerning me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor have seen his shape,
And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger, and he that believes on me shall never thirst at any time.
From that time many of his disciples went away back and walked no more with him.
Jesus therefore says to them, My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready.
Ye, go ye up to this feast. I go not up to this feast, for my time is not yet fulfilled.
They called therefore a second time the man who had been blind, and said to him, Give glory to God: we know that this man is sinful.
Since time was, it has not been heard that any one opened the eyes of one born blind.
Jesus says to him, Am I so long a time with you, and thou hast not known me, Philip? He that has seen me has seen the Father; and how sayest thou, Shew us the Father?
From this time Pilate sought to release him; but the Jews cried out saying, If thou releasest this man, thou art not a friend to Caesar. Every one making himself a king speaks against Caesar.
This is already the third time that Jesus had been manifested to the disciples, being risen from among the dead.
He says to him again a second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He says to him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I am attached to thee. He says to him, Shepherd my sheep.
He says to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, art thou attached to me? Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, Art thou attached to me? and said to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I am attached to thee. Jesus says to him, Feed my sheep.
They therefore, being come together, asked him saying, Lord, is it at this time that thou restorest the kingdom to Israel?
It is necessary therefore, that of the men who have assembled with us all the time in which the Lord Jesus came in and went out among us,
whom heaven indeed must receive till the times of the restoring of all things, of which God has spoken by the mouth of his holy prophets since time began.
and the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren, and the family of Joseph became known to Pharaoh.
But as the time of promise drew near which God had promised to Abraham, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt,
In which time Moses was born, and was exceedingly lovely, who was nourished three months in the house of his father.
And they gave heed to him, because that for a long time he had astonished them by his magic arts.
And there was a voice again the second time to him, What God has cleansed, do not thou make common.

for Paul thought it desirable to sail by Ephesus, so that he might not be made to spend time in Asia; for he hastened, if it was possible for him, to be the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem.
And when they were come to him, he said to them, Ye know how I was with you all the time from the first day that I arrived in Asia,
Then Paul, taking the men, on the next day, having been purified, entered with them into the temple, signifying the time the days of the purification would be fulfilled, until the offering was offered for every one of them.
But that I may not too much intrude on thy time, I beseech thee to hear us briefly in thy kindness.
hoping at the same time that money would be given him by Paul: wherefore also he sent for him the oftener and communed with him.
And much time having now been spent, and navigation being already dangerous, because the fast also was already past, Paul counselled them,
and, having cast off the anchors, they left them in the sea, at the same time loosening the lashings of the rudders, and hoisting the foresail to the wind, they made for the strand.
But they expected that he would have swollen or fallen down suddenly dead. But when they had expected a long time and saw nothing unusual happen to him, changing their opinion, they said he was a god.
But I do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, that I often proposed to come to you, (and have been hindered until the present time,) that I might have some fruit among you too, even as among the other nations also.
for the shewing forth of his righteousness in the present time, so that he should be just, and justify him that is of the faith of Jesus.
for we being still without strength, in the due time Christ has died for the ungodly.
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the coming glory to be revealed to us.
For this word is of promise, According to this time I will come, and there shall be a son to Sarah.
Thus, then, in the present time also there has been a remnant according to election of grace.
This also, knowing the time, that it is already time that we should be aroused out of sleep; for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
So that do not judge anything before the time, until the Lord shall come, who shall also both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and shall make manifest the counsels of hearts; and then shall each have his praise from God.
Defraud not one another, unless, it may be, by consent for a time, that ye may devote yourselves to prayer, and again be together, that Satan tempt you not because of your incontinency.
But this I say, brethren, the time is straitened. For the rest, that they who have wives, be as not having any:
A wife is bound for whatever time her husband lives; but if the husband be fallen asleep, she is free to be married to whom she will, only in the Lord.
For I will not see you now in passing, for I hope to remain a certain time with you, if the Lord permit.
while we look not at the things that are seen, but at the things that are not seen; for the things that are seen are for a time, but those that are not seen eternal.
(for he says, I have listened to thee in an accepted time, and I have helped thee in a day of salvation: behold, now is the well-accepted time; behold, now the day of salvation:)
For if also I grieved you in the letter, I do not regret it, if even I have regretted it; for I see that that letter, if even it were only for a time, grieved you.
but on the principle of equality; in the present time your abundance for their lack, that their abundance may be for your lack, so that there should be equality.
Behold, this third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not be in laziness a charge; for I do not seek yours, but you; for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
This third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every matter be established.
I have declared beforehand, and I say beforehand as present the second time, and now absent, to those that have sinned before, and to all the rest, that if I come again I will not spare.
but when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, come of woman, come under law,
but let us not lose heart in doing good; for in due time, if we do not faint, we shall reap.

For we have not at any time been among you with flattering discourse, even as ye know, nor with a pretext for covetousness, God is witness;
And now ye know that which restrains, that he should be revealed in his own time.
And, at the same time, they learn also to be idle, going about to people's houses; and not only idle, but also gossipers and meddlers, speaking things not becoming.
which in its own time the blessed and only Ruler shall shew, the King of those that reign, and Lord of those that exercise lordship;
who has saved us, and has called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before the ages of time,
For the time shall be when they will not bear sound teaching; but according to their own lusts will heap up to themselves teachers, having an itching ear;
For I am already being poured out, and the time of my release is come.
in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time,
for perhaps for this reason he has been separated from thee for a time, that thou mightest possess him fully for ever;
again he determines a certain day, saying, in David, 'To-day,' after so long a time; (according as it has been said before), To-day, if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have again need that one should teach you what are the elements of the beginning of the oracles of God, and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food.
and above over it the cherubim of glory shadowing the mercy-seat; concerning which it is not now the time to speak in detail.
the which is an image for the present time, according to which both gifts and sacrifices, unable to perfect as to conscience him that worshipped, are offered,

And what more do I say? For the time would fail me telling of Gideon, and Barak, and Samson, and Jephthah, and David and Samuel, and of the prophets:
But no chastening at the time seems to be matter of joy, but of grief; but afterwards yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those exercised by it.
who are kept guarded by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ which was in them pointed out, testifying before of the sufferings which belonged to Christ, and the glories after these.
And if ye invoke as Father him who, without regard of persons, judges according to the work of each, pass your time of sojourn in fear,
no longer to live the rest of his time in the flesh to men's lusts, but to God's will.
For the time past is sufficient for us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, lusts, wine-drinking, revels, drinkings, and unhallowed idolatries.
For the time of having the judgment begin from the house of God is come; but if first from us, what shall be the end of those who obey not the glad tidings of God?
