It is said in the Prophet Isaiah--'Behold! I send my Messenger before thy face; He shall prepare thy way.'

On which Jesus said: "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own relations, and in his own home."

Others again said--"He is Elijah," and others--"He is a Prophet, like one of the great Prophets."

Yet can we say 'human'?"--They were afraid of the people, for everyone regarded John as undoubtedly a Prophet.

Some of those present began to spit at him, and to blindfold his eyes, and strike him, saying, as they did so, "Now play the Prophet!" and even the police-officers received him with blows.
