[Then, at the hands of the Roman authorities] you killed the Prince of [never ending] life, but God raised Him from the dead, and we [apostles] were [reliable] witnesses of it.

But to keep it from spreading any further among the people, let us warn them never again to speak to anyone in this name."

but if it has its origin in God, you can never stop it. It is to be feared that you may find yourselves fighting God."

And so the Council agreed [with Gamaliel's advice] and when they called the apostles back in, they had them beaten and ordered them never to speak in the name of Jesus [again]; then they released them.

So, every day, they never stopped teaching and preaching that Jesus was the Christ [i.e., God's specially chosen one], in the Temple and in private homes.

Then they put up false witnesses who said, "This man never stops saying things against this holy place and against the law,

But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

but I said, Lord, by no means: for I never did eat any thing impure, and defiled.

So, when the apostles and the brothers from Judea heard these things, they stopped arguing [See verse 2] and gave honor to God, saying, "[This means] that God has permitted the Gentiles also [as well as the Jews] to repent [i.e., change their hearts and lives] so they, too, could have [the promise of never ending] life."

and said, "You expert in every form of deception and sleight-of-hand, you son of the devil, you enemy of all that is right, will you never stop trying to make the Lord's straight paths crooked!

Since He raised Him from the dead, never to return to decay, He has spoken in this way, I will grant you the faithful covenant blessings made to David.

But Jesus, whom God raised up [from the dead], never did decay.

and that by him everyone who believes is absolved from all that the law of Moses never could absolve you from.

Look, you scoffers,
marvel and vanish away,
because I am doing a work in your days,
a work that you will never believe,
even if someone were to explain it to you.”

But Paul and Barnabas [continued to] speak out boldly, saying, "It was necessary that the message of God be delivered to you [Jews] first. But since you have rejected it and [thereby] consider yourselves to be unworthy of [receiving] never ending life, we [i.e., Paul and Barnabas] will now begin proclaiming it to the [unconverted] Gentiles.

And when the Gentiles heard this they were glad and gave honor to the message of God [i.e., they accepted it as true]. And all those who were appointed [by God] to receive never ending life [through faith and obedience] became believers.

In Lystra a man without strength in his feet, lame from birth, and who had never walked, sat

so that they might search for God, and perhaps grope for him and find him, though he is never far from any of us.

One night in a vision the Lord said to Paul, "Stop being afraid, go on speaking, never give up;

and asked them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" They answered him, "So far from that, we never even heard that there is a Holy Spirit."

I never shrank from telling you anything that was for your good, nor from teaching you in public and in private,

for I never shrank from telling you God's whole plan.

So ever be on your guard and always remember that for three years, night and day, I never ceased warning you one by one, and that with tears.

"Now I commit you [elders] to God and to the message of His unearned favor which can build you up [spiritually] and provide you with the inheritance [of never ending life], along with others who are [specially] set apart [for God].

I have never coveted any man's silver or gold or clothes.

grieving most of all over his statement that they would never see his face again. Then they escorted him to the ship.

and they have never found me debating with anybody in the temple nor making a disturbance in the synagogues or about the city,

to open their eyes [to the truth] so they will turn from darkness to light and from the power [i.e., the influence] of Satan to God. [Then] they can receive the forgiveness of sins and the inheritance [of never ending life], along with [all] those who are set apart [for God] by trusting in Me.'

To this day I have had the help of God in standing, as I now do, to testify alike to low and high, never uttering a single syllable beyond what the prophets and Moses predicted was to take place.

namely, that the Christ must suffer and be the first to rise from the dead [i.e., never to die again] and then proclaim the light [of the Gospel] to the [Jewish] people and to the Gentiles."

when He said,

Go to these people and say:
You will listen and listen,
yet never understand;
and you will look and look,
yet never perceive.

For this people's soul has grown dull, and they scarcely hear with their ears, and they have shut tight their eyes, so that they may never see with their eyes, and understand with their souls, and turn to me, that I may cure them."'
