that thou mayest not make a shew of fasting to men, but to thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
And Jesus says to him, See thou tell no man, but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses ordained, for a testimony to them.

[As] he was saying these [things] to them, behold, one of the rulers came [and] knelt down before him, saying, "My daughter has just now died, but come, place your hand on her and she will live!"
for she said to herself, "If only I touch his cloak I will be healed."
Then Jesus turned him about, and beheld her, saying, "Daughter, be of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee safe." And she was made whole even that same hour.
"Leave the room, for the little girl is not dead, she is sleeping." And they began laughing at him.
But when the multitude had been sent out, he went in, and took the maiden by the hand, and she arose.
Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
how they went into the house of God, and did eat the loaves of shew-bread, of which it was not lawful for him or those who were with him to eat, but for the priests alone?
Behold my servant, whom I have chosen, my beloved, in whom my soul has found its delight. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he shall shew forth judgment to the nations.

But he answered, It is not fit to take the children's bread and throw it to dogs: and she said, True, Lord;
So she said, "Yes, Lord, for even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table."
And the Pharisees and Sadducees, coming to him, asked him, tempting him, to shew them a sign out of heaven.
From that time Jesus began to shew to his disciples that he must go away to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised.

And straight the maiden arose, and went on her feet. For she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished at it out of measure.
Then He gave them strict orders that no one should know about this
And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.
Herodias laid wait for him, and would have killed him, but she could not.
but she could not, for Herod was afraid of John because he knew that he was a just and holy man. So he kept him safe. When he listened to John he was much exercised, yet he found pleasure in listening to him.
when the daughter of this very Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and those reclining together, and, the king, said unto the damsel - Ask me what thou wilt, and I will give it thee;
He even swore to her that whatever she asked, he would give it to her, up to half his kingdom.

And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, "I will, that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John Baptist."
And he went and beheaded John in prison, brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the young girl, and she gave it to her mother.
But immediately a woman whose young daughter was possessed by an unclean spirit, [when she] heard about him, came [and] fell down at his feet,
The woman was a Greek out of Syrophoenicia, and she besought him that he would cast out the devil out of her daughter.
She answered and said unto him, "Even so, Master. Nevertheless, the whelps also eat under the table of the children's crumbs."
And when she was come home to her house she found the devil departed, and her daughter lying on the bed.
And if a woman forsake her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery."
so that all the seven married her, but left no children. last of all she died.
Therefore, in the resurrection, when they rise, of which of them shall she be the wife? for the seven had her as a wife.
who yet devour widows estates under the shew of making long prayers, such shall receive greater condemnation.
