Woe to the world because of offenses! For it is necessary that offenses come; but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

Therefore the kingdom of Heaven has been compared to a certain king who desired to make an accounting with his servants.

And when He had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him as He was teaching, and said, By what authority do you do these things? And who gave you this authority?

Hear another parable. There was a certain housemaster who planted a vineyard and hedged it round about, and dug a winepress in it, and built a tower, and rented it to vinedressers, and went into a far country.

They said to Him, Bad men! He will miserably destroy them and will rent out his vineyard to other vinedressers who will give him the fruits in their seasons.

And he who falls on this Stone shall be broken, but on whomever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

And he sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they would not come.

Again he sent out other servants, saying, Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage.

Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his Lord has made ruler over His household, to give them food in due season?

For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will abound. But from him who has not, even that which he has shall be taken away from him.

Then the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, assembled together to the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas.

And He answered and said, He who dips his hand with Me in the dish, the same shall betray Me.

The Son of Man goes, as it has been written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.

Rise, let us be going; behold, he who is betraying Me is at hand.

And he who betrayed Him gave them a sign, saying, Whomever I shall kiss, He is the one, lay hold on Him.

And, behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and he struck a servant of the high priest and cut off his ear.

Then Jesus said to him, Put up your sword again into its place; for all who take the sword shall perish with a sword.

And they who had seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had assembled.

saying, Prophesy to us, Christ; who is the one who struck you?

And after a little while those who stood by came and said to Peter, Surely you also are one of them, for your speech betrays you.

Then he who had betrayed Him, seeing that He was condemned, sorrowing, Judas returned the thirty pieces of silver again to the chief priests and elders,

Then that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of Him who had been priced, whom they of the children of Israel valued,

Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, Whom do you desire that I release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?

Pilate said to them, What then shall I do with Jesus, who is called Christ? They all said to him, Let Him be crucified.
