"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung round his neck and he were thrown into the sea.
Then he said to his disciples, "Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to him through whom they do come!
And he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" And he said, "Who are you, Lord?" And he said, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,
And you will be hated by all men for my name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.
And you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.
But all this they will do to you for my name's sake, because they do not know him who sent me.
"Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man 'against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man's enemies will be those of his own household.'
Do you think that I came to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. For from now on there will be five in one house divided: three against two, and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."
Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.

Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.
saying, "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man's blood upon us."
But Saul began ravaging the church, and, entering house after house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.
Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest, and asked for letters from him to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, both men and women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God.
and he said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God." But they cried out with a loud voice, and covered their ears and rushed together upon him with. Then they cast him out of the city and began to stone him; and the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.read more.
And as they were stoning Stephen, he prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." Then he fell on his knees and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
Now about that time Herod the king laid hands on some who belonged to the church in order to persecute them. He had James the brother of John put to death with the sword.
I myself was convinced that I ought to do many things to oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth. And that is just what I did in Jerusalem; I not only shut up many of the saints in prison, by authority from the chief priests, but when they were put to death I cast my vote against them.
When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained;
But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
"But I say to you who hear: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic.
And the people stood watching; but even the rulers sneered at him, saying, "He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One."

Do not return evil for evil or insult for insult, but give a blessing instead; for to this you were called, that you may inherit a blessing.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.' For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.read more.
But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.'"
Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." And they divided his garments and cast lots. And the people stood watching; but even the rulers sneered at him, saying, "He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One."
No, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head."
And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read?" And he answered, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind'; and 'your neighbor as yourself.'"read more.
And he said to him, "You have answered right; do this, and you will live." But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him of his clothing, beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.' Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?" He said, "The one who showed mercy on him." And Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."
Be sober, be alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was rescued from the lion's mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren throughout the world.
For the weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world, but they have divine power to destroy strongholds.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.read more.
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all this, taking up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and petition. And with this in view, keep alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,
So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their homes, and give the enemy no occasion for reproach. For some have already turned aside to follow Satan.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
I do not pray that you should take them out of the world, but that you should keep them from the evil one.
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father's will. But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.read more.
Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
But I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned again, strengthen your brethren."
In the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing.
The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
but has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away."
