'One' in the Bible
All things were created through Him,and apart from Him not one thing was createdthat has been created.
this one came for testimony, that he might testify about the Light, that all might believe through him;
that one was not the Light, but -- that he might testify about the Light.
The Word became fleshand took up residence among us.We observed His glory,the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father,full of grace and truth.
(John testified concerning Him and exclaimed,“This was the One of whom I said,‘The One coming after me has surpassed me,because He existed before me.’”)
We have all received one gracious gift after another from his abundance,
No one has ever seen God.The One and Only Son—the One who is at the Father’s side—He has revealed Him.
He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.
John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
He is the One coming after me, whose sandal strap I’m not worthy to untie.”
This is the One I told you about: ‘After me comes a man who has surpassed me, because He existed before me.’
I didn’t know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The One you see the Spirit descending and resting on—He is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’
I have both seen and testified that this man is the Chosen One of God."
One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
He first found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which means “Anointed One”),
Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the One Moses wrote about in the Law (and so did the prophets): Jesus the son of Joseph, from Nazareth!”
Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and says of him, Behold one truly an Israelite, in whom there is no guile.
Now standing there were six stone water jars used for the Jewish rites of purification, each one holding from two to three measures.
Then He said to them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter [of the banquet].” So they took it to him.
and because he needed not that any one should bear witness concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.
Now there was among the Pharisees a man named Nicodemus, who was one of the rulers of the Jews.
This man came to Him at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher, for no one could perform these signs You do unless God were with him.”
Jesus answered and said to him, 'Verily, verily, I say to thee, If any one may not be born from above, he is not able to see the reign of God;'
Jesus answered, 'Verily, verily, I say to thee, If any one may not be born of water, and the Spirit, he is not able to enter into the reign of God;
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
No one has ascended into heaven except the One who descended from heaven—the Son of Man.
that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during,
“For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds have been done in God.
So they came to John and told him, “Rabbi, the One you testified about, and who was with you across the Jordan, is baptizing—and everyone is flocking to Him.”
John responded, “No one can receive a single thing unless it’s given to him from heaven.
You yourselves are my witnesses that I stated, ‘I am not the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed),’ but, ‘I have [only] been sent ahead of Him [as His appointed forerunner and messenger to announce and proclaim His coming].’
The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands by and listens for him, rejoices greatly when he hears the bridegroom's voice. This then is my joy, and it is complete.
It is necessary for that one to increase, but [for] me to decrease."
The One who comes from above is above all. The one who is from the earth is earthly and speaks in earthly terms. The One who comes from heaven is above all.
He testifies to what He has seen and heard, yet no one accepts His testimony.
The one who has accepted His testimony has affirmed that God is true.
The one whom God sent speaks the words of God, because God does not give the Spirit in limited measure to him.
The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who refuses to believe in the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him.
Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to you, "Please give me a drink,' you would have been the one to ask him, and he would have given you living water."
Jesus answered and said to her, 'Every one who is drinking of this water shall thirst again;
for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly.”
Our fathers worshipped in this mountain, and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where one must worship.
You worship One of whom you know nothing. We worship One whom we know; for salvation comes from the Jews.
The woman told him, "I know that the Anointed One is coming, who is being called "the Messiah'. When that person comes, he will explain everything."
“I am He,” Jesus told her, “the One speaking to you.”
Just then His disciples arrived, and they were amazed that He was talking with a woman. Yet no one said, “What do You want?” or “Why are You talking with her?”
“Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done! Can this be the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed)?”
Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
Jesus told them, "My food is doing the will of the one who sent me and completing his work.
The one who harvests is already receiving his wages and gathering a crop for eternal life, so that the one who sows and the one who harvests may rejoice together.
And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
and they were saying to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world.”
So he asked them at what hour he had begun to recover, and they told him, "The fever left him yesterday at one o'clock in the afternoon."
because an angel would go down into the pool from time to time and stir up the water. Then the first one who got in after the water was stirred up recovered from whatever ailment he had].
One man was there who had been sick for 38 years.
Jesus, [when he] saw this one lying [there] and knew that he had [been sick] a long time already, said to him, "Do you want to become well?"
The sick man answered him, "Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up. While I am trying to get into the water, someone else goes down there before me."
So the Jews were saying to the one who had been healed, "It is the Sabbath, and it is not permitted for you to pick up the mat!"
He answered them, 'He who made me whole -- that one said to me, Take up thy couch, and be walking;'
But the one who had been healed did not know who it was, because Jesus had slipped away from the crowd in that place.
The man went away and informed the Jewish leaders that Jesus was the one who had made him well.
So Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly, truly I say to you, the Son can do nothing from himself except what he sees the Father doing. For whatever that one does, these [things] also the Son does likewise.
The Father, in fact, judges no one but has given all judgment to the Son,
so that all people will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
"Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, whoever hears what I say and believes in the one who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged, but has passed from death to life.
I can do nothing on my own accord. I judge according to what I hear, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me."
That one was the lamp [which was] burning and shining, and you wanted to rejoice for an hour in his light.
And the Father who sent Me has Himself testified about Me. You have never heard His voice nor seen His form [His majesty and greatness—what He is like].
You don’t have His word living in you, because you don’t believe the One He sent.
I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me. If another should come in his own name, you would accept that one!
How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
For if you had believed Moses, you would believe me, for that one wrote about me.
Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,
There is one little lad here who hath five barley loaves, and two fishes, but these -- what are they to so many?'
Now when the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus performed, they began to say to one another, "This is certainly the Prophet who is to come into the world."
The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;
Do not work for the food that perishes, but the food that remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has set his seal on this one."
Jesus replied, “This is the work of God—that you believe in the One He has sent.”
For the bread of God is the One who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
“I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty again.
Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never cast out.
I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of the one who sent me.
And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything that he has given me, but should raise it to life on the last day.
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
and they said, 'Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we have known? how then saith this one -- Out of the heaven I have come down?'
Jesus answered, therefore, and said to them, 'Murmur not one with another;
No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day.
it is having been written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God; every one therefore who heard from the Father, and learned, cometh to me;
not that anyone has seen the Father except the One who is from God. He has seen the Father.
Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, the one who believes in me has eternal life.
this is the bread that out of the heaven is coming down, that any one may eat of it, and not die.
I am the living bread that came down out of the heaven; if any one may eat of this bread he shall live -- to the age; and the bread also that I will give is my flesh, that I will give for the life of the world.'
The Jews, therefore, were striving with one another, saying, 'How is this one able to give us his flesh to eat?'
