When the angels left them and went back to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, that the Lord has made known to us."

While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from one town after another, he spoke to them in a parable:

Then he said to them, "Where is your faith?" But they were afraid and amazed, saying to one another, "Who then is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him!"

Or what king, going out to confront another king in battle, will not sit down first and determine whether he is able with ten thousand to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand?

So he sent another slave. They beat this one too, treated him outrageously, and sent him away empty-handed.

But when the tenants saw him, they said to one another, 'This is the heir; let's kill him so the inheritance will be ours!'

"As for these things that you are gazing at, the days will come when not one stone will be left on another. All will be torn down!"

So they began to question one another as to which of them it could possibly be who would do this.

And after about an hour still another insisted, "Certainly this man was with him, because he too is a Galilean."
