And they have always known--if they choose to give evidence- -that, in accordance with the very strictest form of our religion, I lived a true Pharisee.

"While doing this very thing, as I was going to Damascus with authority and complete power from the chief priests,

But get up and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for the very purpose of appointing you my servant and a witness to me of the things which you have seen and those which I shall yet enable you to see.

For these very things the Jews arrested me in the temple and kept on trying to kill me.

As I have gotten help from God clear down to this very day, I stand here to testify to high and low alike, without adding a syllable to what Moses and the prophets said should take place,

I am not mad, said he, most noble Festus, but what I say, is very sound truth.

Then Agrippa said to Paul, “In a short time [and with so little effort] you [almost] persuade me to become a Christian.”

the next day we touch'd at Sidon, where the centurion, who was very civil to Paul, gave him leave to go, and refresh himself at his friends.

For several days we made very little sail, and having scarce got sight of Cnidus, the wind being against us, we bore away between Salmone and Crete:

saying, "Sirs, I can see that this voyage will result in suffering and much loss, not only to the ship and its cargo, but also to our [very] lives."

And when a south wind blew gently, having presumed to have obtained their purpose, after taking up anchor, they sailed very near by Crete.

But after a little time, a very violent wind, named Euraquilo, came down from it with great force.

For this very night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood before me,

while they were waiting for day, Paul advis'd the whole company to take some refreshment: "these fourteen days, said he, you have been very abstemious, and not made a meal:

Now in the country surrounding that place were the lands belonging to the chief man of the island, by name Publius, who received us and gave us hospitality three days in a very friendly way.

[So], hearing that we were coming, the brothers [from Rome] traveled from there as far [south] as "The Market of Appius" and "The Three Inns" to meet us. When Paul saw them he thanked God and was [very] encouraged.

so not being able to agree, they retir'd, upon Paul's having told them, that the holy spirit had very justly said to our fathers by the prophet Esaias,

For I want very much to see you, so I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you,

For, from the very creation of the world, His invisible perfections--namely His eternal power and divine nature--have been rendered intelligible and clearly visible by His works, so that these men are without excuse.

who though they knew the just judgement of God, (that they who commit such practises are worthy of death) yet not only do these very things, but also countenance and encourage others in the practice of them.

Wherefore, inexcusable, thou art, O man, whoever judgest; for, wherein thou judgest some one else, thyself, thou dost condemn, - for, the very things, thou dost practise, who art judging:

Thinkest thou this, O thou man that judgest them which do such things and yet doest even the very same: that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

For, as the Scripture says, the very name of God is abused among the heathen, because of you!

Surely, very much. First: unto them was committed the word of God.

Why should we not do evil that good may come out of it?" (which is the calumny attributed to me ??the very thing some people declare I say). Such arguments are rightly condemned.

as the Scripture says, "I have made you the father of many nations." The promise is guaranteed in the very sight of God in whom he had faith, who can bring the dead to life and call into being what does not exist.

but the gift is very different from the trespass. For while the rest of men died by the trespass of one man, the grace of God and the free gift which comes by the grace of the one man Jesus Christ overflowed far more richly upon the rest of men.

and no longer lend your faculties as unrighteous weapons for Sin to use. On the contrary surrender your very selves to God as living men who have risen from the dead, and surrender your several faculties to God, to be used as weapons to maintain the right.

And the very same commandment which was ordained unto life, was found to be unto me an occasion of death.

For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.

But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good.

For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.

But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.

God will! Thanks be to him through Jesus Christ our Lord! [Move second part of this vers to follow vs 23] (Thus, left to myself, I serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.)

For the very creatures shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption, into the glorious liberty of the sons of God.

We know, indeed, that all Nature alike has been groaning in the pains of labor to this very hour.

for the Writing saith to Pharaoh -- 'For this very thing I did raise thee up, that I might shew in thee My power, and that My name might be declared in all the land;'

And in that very spot where it was told them, "You are not my people," There they shall be called "Sons of the living God."

But what does it say? "God's message is close to you, on your very lips and in your heart"; that is, the message about faith which we preach.

But I ask 'Is it possible that men have never heard?' No, indeed, for--'Their voices spread through all the earth, and their Message to the very ends of the world.'

What then? [Just this]: The very thing that the Israelites are looking for [i.e., a right relationship with God], they have not found. But God's selected ones obtained [this right relationship with Him] and the rest [of the Israelites] were made insensitive to God's call,

Even as it is written - God hath given unto them a spirit of stupor, - eyes not to see, and ears not to hear, - until this very day;

And David says, "Let their very food become a snare and a trap to them, a stumbling-block and a retribution.

Very well, but it was for lack of faith that they were broken off, and it is through your faith that you now stand where you are. Stop your haughty thinking, rather continue to be reverent,

So, I urge you, brothers, because God is so merciful [to us], to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, [fully] dedicated and very pleasing to God. For this is a reasonable [or spiritual] way for you to worship [or serve] Him.

so that he who opposes the ruler, disobeys the orders of God: and will be punished too for resisting, by those very powers.

For, because of this, are ye paying tribute also, - for, God's ministers of state, they are, unto this very thing, giving constant attendance.

For Christ died and lived again for the very purpose of being Lord of both the dead and the living.

For the person who serves Christ with these qualities is very pleasing to God and wins the approval of people.

As for yourself--keep this faith of yours to yourself, as in the presence of God. Happy is he who never has to condemn himself in regard to the very thing which he thinks right!

But I have written very boldly to you on some points so as to remind you again, because of the grace that was given me from God,

who once risked their very necks for my life. I am so thankful to them; not only I but also all the churches among the heathen thank them.

your christianity is very well known in the world. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you as expert in that which is good, as unpractis'd in what is evil.

and to the very end He will guarantee that you are vindicated at the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Message of the Cross is indeed mere folly to those who are in the path to Ruin, but to us who are in the path of Salvation it is the very power of God.

For 'who has so comprehended the mind of the Lord as to be able to instruct him?' We, however, have the very mind of Christ.

if a man's work is burnt up, he will be a loser ??and though he will be saved himself, he will be snatched from the very flames.

With me, however, it counteth for the very smallest thing, that, by you, I should be examined, or by a human day. Nay! I am not even examining myself,

So if you have the ordinary cases of life for settlement, do you set up as judges the very men in the church who have no standing?

The very fact that you have lawsuits among yourselves is already a defeat for you. Why not rather just accept the wrong? Why not rather be cheated?

Don't you know, that your bodies are parts of Christ's mystical body? now, how can that which is Christ's, be made the property of a very creature?

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]?

Brothers, each one must continue close to God in the very station in which he was called.

But this I do say, brothers. The appointed time has grown very short. From this time on those who have wives should live as though they had none,

If to other men I am not an Apostle, yet at any rate I am one to you; for your very existence as a Christian Church is the seal of my Apostleship.

Human arguments, you say? But does not Scripture urge the very same?

What are my wages then? The very fact that the Good News which I preach will cost my hearers nothing, so that I cannot be charged with abuse of my privileges as a Christian preacher.

Every woman that prayeth or prophesieth bare-headed, dishonesteth her head. For it is even all one and the very same thing, even as though she were shaven.

[And] does not the very nature of things teach you that it is disgraceful for a man to have long hair? Quite the contrary. We cannot do without those very members of the body which are considered rather delicate,

and as for those parts of the body which we consider less honorable, these we treat with greater honor; and our less presentable parts are treated with greater modesty,

Love is very patient, very kind. Love knows no jealousy; love makes no parade, gives itself no airs,

Very well then, I will pray in the Spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing praise in the Spirit, but I will also sing praise with my mind.

For you may very well be giving thanks, but the other person is not being built up.

the secrets of his heart are laid bare. And so, falling on his face, he will worship God, declaring that God is really among you.

Very well then, brothers; when you meet together, each contributes something ??a song of praise, a lesson, a revelation, a 'tongue,' an interpretation? Good, but let every thing be for edification.

through which also you are obtaining salvation, if you bear in mind the words in which I proclaimed it--unless indeed your faith has been unreal from the very first.

For the very first thing I taught you was that I had myself been taught, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scripture,

For I am the very least of the apostles, unfit to bear the name of apostle, since I persecuted the church of God.

interpretations given to this very difficult verse. Other possibilities are: a) "immersed in view of (being raised from) the dead," b) "immersed in view of being dead (to sin)," c) "immersed in view of (having to suffer) death," d) "immersed in view of (someday joining) the dead"].

By the very pride I take in you, brothers, through our union with Christ Jesus our Lord, I face death every day.

You foolish man, the very seed you sow never comes to life without dying first;

And as to what thou sowest, thou sowest not the very body that shall be produced, but a bare grain, it may be, of wheat, or any other corn:
