But, when Paul had gathered a certain lot of firewood into a bundle, and laid it on the fire, a viper, by reason of the heat, coming forth, fastened on his hand.
And, when the natives saw the brute hanging out from his hand, they began to say, one to another - Doubtless, this man is, a murderer, whom, though brought safely through out of the sea, Justice, hath not suffered, to live.
whereas, they, were expecting, that he was about to become inflamed, or to fall down suddenly dead; - but, when they had been long expecting, and had observed, nothing unusual, happening unto him, they changed their minds, and began to say he was a god.
And it happened that the father of Publius was lying sick with a fever and dysentery; to whom Paul went in, and, when he had prayed, laid his hands on him, and healed him.
And, when this happened, the rest also, even they in the island who were sick, were coming in and getting cured;
who also, with many honours, honoured us, and, when we were about to sail, put on board such things as we might need.
And when we came to Syracuse, we tarried there three days,
And, when from thence the brethren heard the tidings concerning us, they came to meet us, as far as The Market of Appius and the Three Taverns - seeing whom, Paul thanked God, and took courage.
And, when we entered into Rome, Paul was suffered to abide by himself, with the soldier that guarded him.
And it came to pass, after three days, that he called together those who were the chief of the Jews; and, when they came together, he began to say unto them - I, brethren, though I had done nothing against the people, or the customs of our fathers, as a prisoner, out of Jerusalem, was delivered into the hands of the Romans;
who, indeed, when they had examined me, were minded to set me at liberty, because there was, nothing worthy of death, in me.
But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.
And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
when He said,
You will listen and listen,
yet never understand;
and you will look and look,
yet never perceive.
For the heart of this people, hath become dense, and, with their ears, heavily, have they heard, and, their eyes, have they closed, - lest once they should see with their eyes, and, with their ears, should hear, and, with their hearts, should understand, and return, - when I would certainly heal them.
And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.
He was appointed to be the Son of God with power through the Spirit of holiness [Note: This could refer to the Holy Spirit] when He was raised from the dead.
As God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in spreading the good news of his Son, I never fail to mention you when I pray,
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Therefore, any one of you
And do you suppose, when you sit in judgment upon those who do such things and yet do them yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God?
But because of your hardness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath
For when He finally judges, He will pay everyone with exactness for what he has done,
All who, when they sin, are without Law will also perish without Law; while all who, when they sin, are under Law, will be judged as being under Law.
in the day when God shall judge the secret works of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.
So, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, instinctively
and they show the work of the law written in their minds, their consciences testifying with them, and their judgments mutually acusing or defending one another;??16 in the day when God shall judge the secret [doings] of men according to my gospel through Jesus Christ.

And art taking note of his will, and testing the things that differ - when receiving oral instruction out of the law,
Far be it! But let, God, prove to be, true, albeit, every man, be false! Even as it is written - That thou mightest be declared righteous in thy words, and overcome when thou art in judgment.
But if our unrighteousness serves to confirm God's righteousness, what can we say? God is not unrighteous when he vents his wrath on us, is he? (I am talking in human terms.)
Their feet are swift when it comes to shedding blood,
Whom God has put forward as the sign of his mercy, through faith, by his blood, to make clear his righteousness when, in his pity, God let the sins of earlier times go without punishment;
In the forbearance of God, - with a view to a showing forth of his righteousness in the present season, that he might be righteous even when declaring righteous him that hath faith in Jesus.
Now when a workman gets his pay, it is not considered from the point of view of a favor but of an obligation;
How, then, was it reckoned? When he was in circumcision or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision;
And he received the sign of circumcision, as a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had when uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all those who believe, though uncircumcised; that to them also the righteousness might be imputed:
And he is also the father of the circumcised, who are not only circumcised, but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham possessed when he was still uncircumcised.
As it is written, "I have made you the father of many nations." Abraham acted in faith when he stood in the presence of God, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence things that don't yet exist.
Abraham hoped for what he believed [God had promised], even when there seemed little hope [of it happening], so this made him forefather of many nations, according to the words spoken to him [Gen. 15:5], "Your descendants will be many."
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
But God has made clear his love to us, in that, when we were still sinners, Christ gave his life for us.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
For, until law, sin was in the world, although sin is not reckoned when there is no law, -
Nevertheless, death ruled from the time of Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the same way Adam did when he disobeyed. He is a foreshadowing of the one who would come.
Certainly not! When we have died to sin, how can we live in it any longer?
don't you know that when we were all baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, we were plunged into a state figurative of his death.
For when a man is dead, he is freed from the claims of sin.
knowing that when Christ was raised from the dead, He dies no more; death no longer has dominion over Him.
For when he died, he became once for all dead to sin; the life he now lives is a life in relation to God.

For sin, when it had gained a vantage-ground through the commandment, beguiled me, and through it slew me.
But when I do what I want not to do, I am admitting that the Law is right.
But, when I do the very thing that I want not to do, the action is no longer my own, but that of Sin which is within me.
I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
You have received no slavish spirit that would make you relapse into fear; you have received the Spirit of sonship. And when we cry, "Abba! Father!",
For I esteem the sufferings of the present time as of no account, when compared with the glory which is about to be revealed to us.
Also, the fervent desire of the creatures abideth looking when the sons of God shall appear;

It is *in hope* that we have been saved. But an object of hope is such no longer when it is present to view; for when a man has a thing before his eyes, how can he be said to hope for it?
But when we hope for something that we do not see, we wait persistently for it.

I would not, brethren, have you ignorant of this secret, (for fear you should presume too much on your selves) that blindness has fallen upon a part of Israel, until the time when the Gentiles shall be fully come in.

For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable [for He does not withdraw what He has given, nor does He change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call].

See then that the time has come for you to be awake from sleep: for now is your salvation nearer than when you first had faith.
We should be living properly, as in the daytime [i.e., when people normally behave themselves], not engaging in orgies and drunkenness; not practicing sexual immorality and indecent vices; not quarrelsome and jealous.
Stop undoing the work of God just for the sake of food. Everything is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything when it makes another stumble.
I act as priest of the gospel of God; so that the Gentiles, when offered before him, may be an acceptable sacrifice, because consecrated by the Holy Spirit.
but now having no more to detain me in these parts, and having had a great desire for many years to come to you, when I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you:
As soon as I am journey to Spain, - I am hoping, in fact, when journeying through to get sight of you, and by you to be set forward thither, - if, with your company, I have first in some measure been satisfied.
So when I have done this, and have given them this fruit of love, I will go on by you into Spain.
