I don't deserve to be called your son anymore. Treat me like one of your hired men."'

So He entered Jericho and was passing through the town.

“But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We don’t want this man to rule over us!’

'And it came to pass, on his coming back, having taken the kingdom, that he commanded these servants to be called to him, to whom he gave the money, that he might know what any one had done in business.

When the second came, he said 'Your ten pounds, Sir, have produced fifty.'

Another servant also came and said 'Sir, here are your ten pounds; I have kept them put away in a handkerchief.

Saying, Go into the little town in front of you, and on going in you will see a young ass fixed with a cord, on which no man has ever been seated; let him loose and take him.

And while he went on his way they put their clothing down on the road in front of him.

Now He came near the path down the Mount of Olives, and the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles they had seen:

and they will level you to the ground, you [Jerusalem] and your children within you. They will not leave in you one stone on another, all because you did not [come progressively to] recognize [from observation and personal experience] the time of your visitation [when God was gracious toward you and offered you salvation].”

but they could not discover what was to be done, for the whole of the people hung upon his lips.

Everyone falling on that stone will be broken, but the man on whom the stone comes down will be crushed to dust.

They questioned Him, “Teacher, we know that You speak and teach correctly, and You don’t show partiality, but teach truthfully the way of God.

When you hear of wars and rebellions, don’t be alarmed. Indeed, these things must take place first, but the end won’t come right away.”

Then let those who are in Judaea go in flight to the mountains; and those who are in the middle of the town go out; and let not those who are in the country come in.

For these are times for punishment [i.e., to be inflicted on Jerusalem], so that everything written [i.e., by the prophets] may be fulfilled [i.e., about Jerusalem's destruction. See Dan. 9:26-27].
