'Needy' in the Bible
"If you lend money to any of my people who are needy among you, do not be like a moneylender to him; do not charge him interest.
'Thou dost not turn aside the judgment of thy needy one in his strife;
and the seventh thou dost release it, and hast left it, and the needy of thy people have eaten, and their leaving doth the beast of the field eat; so dost thou to thy vineyard -- to thine olive-yard.
Nor shall you glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather the fallen fruit of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the needy and for the stranger. I am the Lord your God.
‘When you reap the harvest of your land, moreover, you shall not reap to the very corners of your field nor gather the gleaning of your harvest; you are to leave them for the needy and the alien. I am the Lord your God.’”
only when there is no needy one with thee, for Jehovah doth greatly bless thee in the land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee -- an inheritance to possess it.
'When there is with thee any needy one of one of thy brethren, in one of thy cities, in thy land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee, thou dost not harden thy heart, nor shut thy hand from thy needy brother;
Take heed to thee lest there be a word in thy heart -- worthless, saying, Near is the seventh year, the year of release; and thine eye is evil against thy needy brother, and thou dost not give to him, and he hath called concerning thee unto Jehovah, and it hath been in thee sin;
For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.
And if the man be needy, thou shalt not lie down with his pledge;
Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates:
He raises the poor from the dustand lifts the needy from the garbage pile.He seats them with noblemenand gives them a throne of honor.For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s;He has set the world on them.
as days on which the Jews have rested from their enemies, and the month that hath been turned to them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning to a good day, to make them days of banquet and of joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the needy.
He saves the needy from their sharp wordsand from the clutches of the powerful.
They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.
"They snatch [the] orphan from [the] breast, and they take a pledge against [the] needy.
“They cause the poor to go about naked without clothing,And they take away the sheaves [of grain] from the hungry.
The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.
because I saved [the] needy who cried for help, and [I saved] [the] orphan for whom [there was] no helper.
I was a father to the needy,and I examined the case of the stranger.
"Surely he won't stretch his hand against the needy, will he, especially if they cry to him in their calamity?
Have I not wept for those who have fallen on hard times?Has my soul not grieved for the needy?
“If I have withheld from the poor what they desired,Or have caused the eyes of the widow to look in vain [for relief],
if I have seen anyone dying for lack of clothingor a needy person without a cloak,
so that they caused the cry of the poor to come before him, so that he hears the cry of the needy.
“He does not prolong the life of the wicked,But gives the afflicted their justice.
For the needy shall not alway be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.
For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?
The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.
But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
Your people live there; you sustain the needy with your goodness, God.
For the Lord listens to the needyand does not despiseHis own who are prisoners.

{A Prayer of David.} Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy.
But He lifts the needy out of their sufferingand makes their families multiply like flocks.
Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.
For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
For He stands at the right hand of the needyto save him from those who would condemn him.

There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.
Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all the {needy}.
Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

and the meek shall increase their joy in Jehovah, and the needy among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.

They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.
Sing to the Lord!Praise the Lord,for He rescues the life of the needyfrom the hand of evil people.
He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the LORD.
Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,
he keeps his hand from [oppressing] the poor, does not receive interest or increase [from the needy], but executes My ordinances and walks in My statutes; he shall not die for the sin (guilt) of his father; he shall certainly live.
The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.
Therefore, may my advice seem good to you my king. Separate yourself from your sins by doing what is right, and from your injustices by showing mercy to the needy. Perhaps there will be an extension of your prosperity.”
The Lord says:I will not relent from punishing Israelfor three crimes, even four,because they sell a righteous person for silverand a needy person for a pair of sandals.
They trample the heads of the pooron the dust of the groundand block the path of the needy.A man and his father have sexual relationswith the same girl,profaning My holy name.
Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.
For I have known -- many are your transgressions, And mighty your sins, Adversaries of the righteous, taking ransoms, And the needy in the gate ye turned aside.

But give for gifts to the needy those things which are within, and behold, all things will be clean to you.
Sell that which you have, and give gifts to the needy. Make for yourselves purses which don't grow old, a treasure in the heavens that doesn't fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth destroys.
A certain man who was lame from his mother's womb was being carried, whom they laid daily at the door of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask gifts for the needy of those who entered into the temple.
Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive gifts for the needy.
They recognized him, that it was he who used to sit begging for gifts for the needy at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. They were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

and said, 'Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your gifts to the needy are remembered in the sight of God.
Now after some years, I came to bring gifts for the needy to my nation, and offerings;
Because of this act of ministry, they will glorify God for your obedience to the gospel of Christ which you confess, as well as for your generous participation [in this gift] for them and for all [the other believers in need],
The thief must no longer steal but must work hard and do what is good with his own hands, so that he might earn something to give to the needy.
They were stoned to death, sawed in half, and killed with swords. They went around in sheepskins and goatskins. They were needy, oppressed, and mistreated.
Do not neglect to do good, to contribute [to the needy of the church as an expression of fellowship], for such sacrifices are always pleasing to God.
