It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
"Be concerned about yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.
but will not rather say to him, Prepare what I may sup, and having girded thyself about, minister to me, till I eat and drink, and after these things thou shalt eat and drink?
And it came about that when they were on the way to Jerusalem he went through Samaria and Galilee.
And when the Pharisees put questions to him about when the kingdom of God would come, he gave them an answer and said, The kingdom of God will not come through observation:
Whosoever will go about to save his life, shall lose it: And whosoever shall lose his life, shall save it.
And he also spoke a parable to them about it being necessary to always pray, and not to give up,
Saying, There was a certain judge in a certain city, fearing not God, and not occupied about man:
And he would not for a time: and after these he said in himself, And if I fear not God, and am not occupied about man;
I will grant her a [favorable] judgment because she keeps bothering me [about the matter] and is about to exhaust my patience by her persistent visits.'"
And the Lord said, "Listen to what [even] this unjust judge said [about the widow].
The Pharisee stood up [conspicuously] and prayed about himself this way [i.e., bragging to God about how good he was], 'God, I thank you that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, sexually unfaithful to their mates, or even like that tax collector [over there].
You know the commandments--'Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not say what is false about others, Honor thy father and thy mother.'"
Now He took the Twelve aside and said to them, "Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.
But they did not understand about these things, and this statement was an insoluble riddle to them; they did not even begin to grasp what He meant.
And it came about that when he got near Jericho, a certain blind man was seated by the side of the road, making requests for money from those who went by.
And, running forward unto the front, he got up a sycamore-tree, that he might see him; for, by that way, was he about to pass.
But as they were listening to these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God was about to be immediately manifested.
So, he called ten of his slaves and gave each of them a sum of money [Note: The amount of each sum was equivalent to one hundred days of a farm laborer's pay, or about $7,000 in 1994]. [Then] he said to them, 'Invest this money until I return.'
And he said to him, 'Well done, my excellent slave! You have proved trustworthy about a very small amount, you shall be governor of ten towns.'
And it came about that when he got near Beth-phage and Bethany by the mountain which is named the Mountain of Olives, he sent two of the disciples,
And as he was now coming near, at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began rejoicing to praise God in a great voice about all the mighty works that they had seen, saying,
But He answered them, "I tell you, if these people remain quiet [about me], [then] the stones will shout [about it]."
For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
And he taught daily in the temple. The high priests and the scribes and the chief of the people, went about to destroy him;
And it came about on one of those days, when he was teaching the people in the Temple and preaching the good news,
It is about John's baptism--was it of divine or of human origin?"
Then the owner of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do [about this]? I will send my dearly loved son. Hopefully, they will treat him with respect.'
And the high priests and the scribes, the same hour went about to lay hands on him, but they feared the people. For they perceived that he had spoken this similitude against them.
And they asked Him, "Teacher, we know that you speak and teach correctly and that you do not show partiality to anyone, but [rather] teach the truth about God's way.
"Show me the coin [used for paying the taxes]. [Note: This coin was equivalent to one day of a farm laborer's pay, or about $60-$84 in 1994]. Whose image and inscription are on this coin?" And they answered Him, "Caesar's."
About the woman, then--at the resurrection, whose wife is she to be, all seven brothers having had her as their wife?"
But that the dead are raised, even Moses revealed in [the passage about] the bush, when he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and [the] God of Isaac and [the] God of Jacob.
For
Beware of the scribes, who like to walk about in long robes, and who love salutations in the market-places, and first seats in the synagogues, and first places at suppers;
And He saw a certain poor widow throwing two small copper coins into it [Note: These two coins amounted to about ten minutes of a farm laborer's pay, or about one dollar in 1994].
And [while] some were speaking about the temple, that it was adorned with precious stones and votive offerings, he said,
And they asked him, saying, Teacher, when therefore shall these things be? and what'shall be the sign when these things are about to come to pass?
So He said, "You must take care not to be misled about it! For many will come bearing the name of Messiah, and saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The time is near.' Do not go after them.
And when you hear about wars and insurrections, do not be terrified, for these [things] must happen first, but the end [will] not [be] at once."
So take care not to be troubled before the time comes, about what answers you will give:
But when you see armies all round about Jerusalem, then be certain that her destruction is near.
For these are times for punishment [i.e., to be inflicted on Jerusalem], so that everything written [i.e., by the prophets] may be fulfilled [i.e., about Jerusalem's destruction. See Dan. 9:26-27].
"men lifeless through fear, and foreboding of that which is about to come upon the habitable earth. For the powers of the heavens shall be shaken,
But when these things come about, let your heads be lifted up, because your salvation is near.
But be taking heed unto yourselves, lest once your hearts be made heavy - with debauch and drunkenness and anxieties about livelihood, and that day come upon you suddenly,
Watch therefore, praying at every season, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things which are about to come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
And the high priests and the scribes were casting about for a way to put him to death, for they were afraid of the people.
And he went away and had a discussion with the chief priests and the rulers, about how he might give him up to them.
Now when the hour came, He took His place at the table, with the apostles about Him.
And in like manner he took the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is about to be shed for you.
And they began to question together among themselves who then it could be of them who was about to do this.
And there was an argument among them about which of them was the greatest.
For I tell you that this that is written must be fulfilled in me: 'And he was counted with the criminals.' For indeed, [what is written] about me {is being fulfilled}."
And the apostles said, "Look, Lord, we have two swords [here]." And Jesus replied, "That is enough." [Note: Possibly Jesus means, "enough talk about weapons"].
And he was parted from them about a stone's cast; and he kneeled down and prayed,
And when they that were about him saw what would follow, they said, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
And they kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat about it, and Peter sat down among them.
But he disowned him, saying, "Woman, I know nothing about him."
And after the space of about one hour another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this man also was with him; for he is a Galilaean.
But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are talking about!" And immediately, [while] he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
whereupon the Lord turned about, and look'd upon Peter. then Peter remembred what the Lord had said to him, "before the cock-crowing you shall deny me thrice."
And the men that stood about Jesus, mocked him, and smote him,
And Pilate said to the high priests and the crowds, "I cannot find anything criminal about him."
And [when] Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had been wanting to see him for a long time, because he had heard about him and was hoping to see some miracle performed by him.
And Herod with his soldiery, having set him at nought, and mocked him, threw about him a gorgeous robe, and sent him back unto Pilate.
Pilate said to them, "You brought me this man as being an inciter to rebellion among the people. I have examined him before you and found nothing criminal about him, for all your accusations against him.
He asked them a third time, "But what crime has he committed? I have found nothing about him that deserves death; so I shall release him with a whipping."
but Jesus turn'd about and said to them, daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for your selves, and for your children.
It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour,

It was the Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.
And it was a day of preparation, and, a Sabbath, was about to dawn.
And it happened that while they were perplexed about this, behold, two men in gleaming clothing stood near them.

Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. He stooped down and saw only the linen cloths. Then he went home, wondering about what had happened.
And then, two of them, on that very day, were going to a little town named Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem.
and they were conversing with one another about all these [things] that had happened.
While they were talking about these things and discussing them, Jesus himself came up and went on their way with them;
And he said to them, What are you talking about together while you go?
And He said to them, "What sort of things?" They answered Him, "The things about Jesus of Nazareth, who in the sight of God and of all the people became a prophet mighty in deed and word,
But we had hoped that he was the one who is about to redeem Israel. But then, besides all these things, it is now, to-day, the third day since these things took place.
Then He began with Moses and went through all the prophets and explained to them all the passages in the Scriptures about Himself.
Even while they were talking about these things, He took His stand among them Himself, [and said to them, "Peace to you!"]
Then Jesus said to them, "Why are you [so] upset? And why are you having doubts [about me] in your minds?
So while they were still disbelieving for sheer joy and still wondering about it, He asked them, "Have you anything here to eat?"
And he said to them, "These [are] my words that I spoke to you [while I] was still with you, that everything that is written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled."
And that teaching about a change of heart and forgiveness of sins is to be given to Jerusalem first and to all nations in his name.
And remember that I am about to send out my Father's promised gift to rest upon you. But, as for you, wait patiently in the city until you are clothed with power from on high."
This one came for a witness, in order that he could testify about the light, so that all would believe through him.
That one was not the light, but [came] in order that he could testify about the light.
John testified about him and cried out, saying, "This one was [he about] whom I said, 'The one who comes after me is ahead of me, because he existed before me.'"
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came about through Jesus Christ.
Then they said to him, "Who are you, so that we can give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?"
This one is [the one] about whom I said, 'After me is coming a man who is ahead of me, because he existed before me.'
he gazed at Jesus as he walked about, and said, "Look, there is the lamb of God!"
then Jesus turned about, and seeing them following, said, what do you seek? they answered him, rabbi, that is to say master, where do you dwell?
come, said he, and see. so they went and saw where he lodged, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.
