and desired of him letters to Damascus, to the synagogues: that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
But as he journeyed, it fortuned that he drew nigh to Damascus, and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven.
And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?"
And he, both trembling and astonished, said, "Lord what wilt thou have me to do?" And the Lord said unto him, "Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou shalt do."
The men which journeyed with him on his way stood amazed, for they heard a voice, but saw no man.
And Saul arose from the earth, and opened his eyes, but saw no man. Then led they him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
And there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias, and to him said the Lord in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Behold, I am here Lord."
And the Lord said to him, "Arise, and go into the street which is called straight, and seek in the house of Judas after one called Saul of the city of Tarsus. For behold, he prayeth;
And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in unto him; And putting his hands on him, that he might receive his sight."
The Lord said unto him, "Go thy ways: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the gentiles, and kings and the children of Israel:
For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake."
Ananias went his way and entered into the house and put his hands on him and said, "Brother Saul, the Lord that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight and be filled with the holy ghost."
All that heard him were amazed and said, "Is not this he that spoiled them which called on this name in Jerusalem? And came hither for the intent that he should bring them bound unto the high priests?"
And after a good while, the Jews took counsel together among themselves, to kill him.
But their layings wait was known of Saul. And they watched at the gates day and night to kill him.
Then the disciples took him by night, and put him through the wall and let him down in a basket.
And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to couple himself with the disciples, and they were all afraid of him and believed not that he was a disciple.
But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared to them how he had seen the Lord in the way and had spoken with him: and how he had done boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus;
and quit himself boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus. And he spake and disputed with the Greeks; and they went about to slay him.
But when the brethren knew of that, they brought him to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.
Then said Peter unto him, "Aeneas, the Lord Jesus Christ make thee whole: Arise and make thy bed." And he arose immediately.
And all that dwelt at Lydda and Sharon, saw him, and turned to the Lord.
Because Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there - they sent unto him, desiring him that he would not be grieved to come unto them.
Peter arose and came with them: And when he was come, they brought him into the chamber, and all the widows stood round about him weeping and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas made while she was with them.
And Peter put them all forth and kneeled down and prayed and turned him to the body, and said, "Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
The same man saw in a vision evidently, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming into him, and saying unto him, "Cornelius."
When he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, "What is it Lord?" He said unto him, "Thy prayers and thy alms are come up into remembrance before God.
When the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him,
Then waxed he a hungered, and would have eaten. But while they made ready for him, he fell into a trance,
and saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel come down unto him, as it had been a great sheet, knit at the four corners, and was let down to the earth,
And there came a voice to him, "Rise, Peter. Kill and eat."
And the voice spake unto him again the second time, "What God hath cleansed that make thou not common."
While Peter thought on this vision, the spirit said unto him, "Behold, men seek thee: arise therefore, get thee down,
Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius, and said, "Behold, I am he, whom ye seek, what is the cause wherefore ye are come?"
And they said unto him, "Cornelius the captain, a just man and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the people of the Jews, was warned by a holy angel, to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee."
Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
And as it chanced Peter to come in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
But Peter took him up, saying, "Stand Up: for even I myself am a man."
And as he talked with him, he came in, and found many that were come together.
but in all people, he that feareth him and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
How God had anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the holy ghost, and with power; which Jesus went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devils, for God was with him.
Him God raised up the third day, and showed him openly,
not to all the people, but unto us witnesses chosen before of God, which ate and drank with him, after he arose from death.
To him giveth all the prophets witness, that through his name all that believe in him shall receive remission of sins."
And he commanded them to be baptised in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him, to tarry a few days.
And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they of the circumcision reasoned with him, saying,
And he showed us, how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said to him, 'Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, named also Peter:
and when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it chanced that a whole year they had their conversation with the congregation there, and taught much people insomuch that the disciples of Antioch were the first that were called Christian.
And when he had caught him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to be kept, intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
Then was Peter kept in prison. But prayer was made without ceasing of the congregation unto God for him.
And when Herod would have brought him out unto the people, the same night slept Peter between two soldiers, bound with two chains; And the keepers before the door kept the prison.
And behold, the angel of the Lord was there present, and a light shined in the lodge. And he smote Peter on the side, and stirred him up, saying, "Arise up quickly." And his chains fell off from his hands.
And the angel said unto him, "Gird thyself and bind on thy sandals." And so he did. And he said unto him, "Cast on thy mantle about thee, and follow me."
And he came out, and followed him: and wist not that it was truth which was done by the angel; but thought he had seen a vision.
When they were past the first and the second watch, they came unto the iron gate, that leadeth unto the city, which opened to them by his own accord. And they went out and passed through one street, and by and by the angel departed from him.
Peter continued knocking: When they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.
And he beckoned unto them with the hand to hold their peace, and told them by what means the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, "Go show these things unto James and to the brethren." And he departed and went into another place.
When Herod had called for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded them to depart. And he descended from Jewry to Caesarea, and there abode.
And upon a day appointed, Herod arrayed him in royal apparel, and set him in his seat, and made an oration unto them.
And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the honour, and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
named Barjesus: which was with the ruler of the country, one Sergius Paulus, a prudent man. The same ruler called unto him Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

And when they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate to kill him.
And when they had fulfilled all that were written of him, they took him down from the tree and put him in a sepulchre:
and he was seen many days of them, which came with him from Galilee to Jerusalem which are his witnesses unto the people.
As concerning that he so raised him up from death, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, 'The holy promises made to David I will give them faithfully to you.'
And that by him are all that believe justified from all things, from the which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
The same heard Paul preach: which beheld him, and perceived that he had faith to be whole,
Thither came certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, and obtained the peoples' consent, and stoned Paul: and drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he arose up and came into the city. And the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
For Moses of old time in every city hath them that preach him, and he is read in the synagogues every Sabbath day."
But Paul thought it not meet to take him unto their company which departed from them at Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
The same, Paul would that he should go forth with him, and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters, for they knew all that his father was a Greek.
and a vision appeared to Paul in the night. There stood a man of Macedonia and prayed him saying, "Come into Macedonia and help us."
And they preached unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds, and was baptised, with all that belonged unto him, straightway.
And they that guided Paul brought him unto Athens, and received a commandment unto Silas and Timothy for to come to him at once. And came their way.
While Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was moved in him to see the city given to worshipping of images.
Then he disputed in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons; And in the market daily with them that came unto him.
Certain Philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoics, disputed with him. And some there were which said, "What will this babbler say?" Others said, "He seemeth to be a tidings-bringer of new devils," because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.
And they took him, and brought him into Mars Street, saying, "May we not know what is this new doctrine whereof thou speakest?
For as I passed by and beheld the manner how ye worship your gods, I found an altar wherein was written, Unto the unknown God. Whom ye then ignorantly worship, him show I unto you:
That they should seek God, if they might feel and find him: though he be not far from every one of us.
For in him we live, move, and have our being, as certain of your own poets said. For we are also his generation.
because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world according to righteousness, by that man, whom he hath appointed, and hath offered faith to all men, after that he had raised him from death."
When Gallio was ruler of the country of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,
Then took all the Greeks Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the Synagogue, and smote him before the judge's seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.
Paul, after this, tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, Priscilla and Aquila accompanying him. And he shore his head in Cenchreae. For he had a vow.
When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not,
And the same began to speak boldly in the Synagogue. And when Priscilla and Aquila had heard him: they took him unto them; And expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
And when he was disposed to go into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him. After he was come thither he helped them much, which had believed through grace.
and said unto them, "Have ye received the holy ghost since ye believed?" And they said unto him, "No. We have not heard whether there be any holy ghost or no."
Then said Paul, "John verily baptised with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people that they should believe on him, which should come after him. That is on Christ Jesus."
So sent he into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him: Timothy and Erastus: but he himself remained in Asia for a season.
When Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not.
