The Biblical writers assume that the Creator of the heavens and the earth must needs be also the everlasting Ruler of the same. The universe is God's dominion, and every creature therein is subject to His power. And so the Hebrew poets conceive God as immanent in all natural phenomena. Wind and storm, fire and earthquake, lightnings and torrents of waters are but so many signs of the activity of the Almighty Ruler of the world (Ps 18:7-15; 68:7-18; 104). The same heavenly Power is also the supreme Sovereign of men and nations. 'The kingdom is Jehovah's, and he is the ruler over the nations' (Ps 22:28). 'Jehovah is king over all the earth' (Zec 14:9). 'He sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the Inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers

And thou, my child, shalt be called the prophet of the most High; for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord, to make known salvation to his people, in the remission of their sins, through the tender mercy of our God, whereby the day-spring hath visited us from on high, to enlighten them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct our feet into the way of peace."

And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser; who was of a great age, having lived with a husband seven years from her first marrying, and had been a widow about eighty four years; who departed not from the temple; serving God with fastings and prayers night and day. What! know ye not that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the effeminate, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor rapacious persons, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

For we know that if our earthly house, which is but as a tent, were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. And therefore whilst we are in this tabernacle we groan, being very desirous to be covered with our house which is from heaven: since though unclothed of this body, read more. yet we shall not be found naked. For we who are in this tabernacle do groan, being burthened; wherefore we desire, not to be wholly unclothed, but to put on immortality, that the mortal part may be swallowed up in life. Now He, that hath wrought us hereunto, is God; who hath also given us the earnest of the Spirit. Therefore we are always confident, knowing that while we dwell in the body, we are absent from the Lord, (for we walk by faith, not by sight,) we are confident, I say, and well-pleased rather to be absent from the body, and to dwell with the Lord. Wherefore we are also ambitious, whether dwelling in the body, or out of it, to be well-pleasing to Him. For we must all appear before the tribunal of Christ, that every one may receive for the things done in the body, according to what he hath done, whether it were good or bad.

for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also those, that sleep in Jesus, will God bring with Him. For this we tell you in the word of the Lord, that we who shall be living and remain to the coming of the Lord, shall not be before those that are asleep. read more. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with acclamation, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we who are living and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we for ever be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
But as to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together unto Him, we beseech you, brethren, that ye be not soon moved from your steadiness of mind, or troubled, neither by Spirit, nor by word, nor by letter, as from us, that the day of Christ is at hand. read more. Let not any one deceive you by any means; for it shall not come till there come an apostasy first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition, who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or the object of worship; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Do ye not remember, that when I was with you, I told you these things? And ye know what now hindereth him from being revealed in his own time. For the mystery of iniquity is already working, only there is one that hindreth till he be taken out of the way. And then the wicked one shall be detected, whom the Lord will destroy by the breath of his mouth, and abolish by the brightness of his coming: who comes, through the efficacy of Satan, with all kind of lying power, and signs, and wonders, and with all iniquitous fraud, among those that shall perish; because they received not the love of the truth, by which they might be saved. And for this cause God will send upon them the efficacy of error, so that they shall themselves believe the lie: that they may all be condemned, who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in iniquity.
And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me to his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory throughout all ages. Amen.
