And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
They said, "How blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven!"
but did not discover how they could do any thing: for all the people attentively hung on his lips.
Then He said to them, "How do people say that the Christ is David's Son?
So David calls Him Lord, then how can He be his Son?"
As he beheld, he saw the rich men, how they cast in their offerings into the treasury.
Now while some people were talking about the temple, how it was decorated with beautiful stones and votive-offerings, He said,
So you must purpose in your hearts not to prepare beforehand how to make your defense,

how he had said to him, Before cock-crowing, thou wilt deny me thrice. And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

Do not you say that it still wants four months to harvest? Why, look up, and see how white the fields are for harvest!
You search through the Scriptures [i.e., the Old Testament], because you think that you will [learn how to] have never ending life by [reading] them. And these Scriptures are what testify concerning me.
How can you believe, receiving glory one from another, and the glory from God alone you seek not?
But if you believe not his writings, how will you believe my words?
And when they found Him on the other [i.e., west] side, they said to Him, "Rabbi, how did you get here?"
Then they said to him, How may we do the works of God?
And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how doth he now say, I am come down out of heaven?
The Jews therefore strove one with another, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
The Jews therefore marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
"If a child receives circumcision on the Sabbath, in order that the Law of Moses may not be broken, how can you be angry with me because I made a man sound and well on the Sabbath?
placed after 5:47] The Jews were amazed, saying, "How can this uneducated fellow manage to read?"
The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things [under their breath] about Him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent
"You--who are you?" they asked. "How is it that I am speaking to you at all?" replied Jesus.

How then doth he now see? His parents answered them, and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind.
but how he now seeth, we know not; or who opened his eyes, we know not: ask him; he is of age; he shall speak for himself.
They said therefore unto him, What did he to thee? How opened he thine eyes?
How opened he thine eyes? He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hearken: why would ye hear it again?
The man answered them, "How amazing! You don't know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes.
Then the Jews came around him and said to him, How long do you hold our minds [in doubt]? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.
how can you say that I blaspheme, I whom the father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, because I said I am the son of God?
So when the Jews who were with her in the house comforting her, saw how quickly Mary got up and left, they followed her, assuming that she was going to the tomb to weep there.
So the Jews said, "See how much he loved him!"
Then from that day they consulted together how they might kill him.
They were therefore seeking Jesus, and were saying one to another, in the temple, standing - How seemeth it unto you? that he will in nowise come unto the feast?
Then the chief priests consulted how they might kill Lazarus also;

this passage his disciples did not understand at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, they remembred how they had mounted him, and perceiv'd that those words related to him.
The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Behold how ye prevail nothing: lo, the world is gone after him.
Then the crowd answered him, "We have learned from the Law that the Messiah remains forever. So how can you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?"
because I haven't spoken on my own authority. Instead, the Father who sent me has himself commanded me what to say and how to speak.
If you understand these things, how blessed you are if you put them into practice!
This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
Thomas asked him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
"Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me?" Jesus asked him. "The person who has seen me has seen the Father. So how can you say, "Show us the Father'?
Judas (not Iscariot) asked him, "Lord, how is it that you are going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?"

This is how my Father is glorified, when you produce a lot of fruit and so prove to be my disciples.

But these things have I spoken unto you, that when their hour is come, ye may remember them, how that I told you. And these things I said not unto you from the beginning, because I was with you.
But when He said this, one of the officers who was standing nearby
This was to fulfil what Jesus said when he declared how he was to die.
Jesus told him, "Is it because you've seen me that you have believed? How blessed are those who have never seen me and yet have believed!"
After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias. Now this is how he did so.
Peter, seeing him, saith to Jesus, Lord, and how will it be with him?
Jesus told him, "If it's my will for him to remain until I come back, how does that concern you? You must keep following me!"
So the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple wasn't going to die. Yet Jesus didn't say to Peter that he wasn't going to die, but, "If it's my will for him to remain until I come back, how does that concern you?"
And when they heard the noise [of the blowing wind] a large number of them assembled [around the apostles] and were puzzled over how they could hear them speaking in their native languages.
So how is it that each one of us hears them speaking in his own native language:
Cretans and Arabians. How can it be that we hear [these apostles] speaking about the mighty accomplishments of God in the language of our national origin?
Now I know, brothers, that you acted in ignorance, like your rulers ??18 though this was how God fulfilled what he had announced beforehand by the lips of all the prophets, namely the sufferings of his Christ.
