And out of the ground Jehovah Elohim made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; and the tree of life, in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

And Jehovah Elohim said to the serpent, Because thou hast done this, be thou cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field. On thy belly shalt thou go, and eat dust all the days of thy life.

And Jehovah Elohim said, Behold, Man is become as one of us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he stretch out his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever ...!

And in process of time it came to pass that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering to Jehovah.

And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood is crying to me from the ground.

And Cain said to Jehovah, My punishment is too great to be borne.

And Noah did according to all that Jehovah had commanded him.

there came two and two unto Noah into the ark, male and female, as God had commanded Noah.

In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that same day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

And they went to Noah, into the ark, two and two of all flesh, in which was the breath of life.

And God remembered Noah, and all the animals, and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.

And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.

And it came to pass at the end of forty days that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made.

And he sent out the raven, which went forth going to and fro, until the waters were dried from the earth.

And he sent out the dove from him, to see if the waters had become low on the ground.

But the dove found no resting-place for the sole of her foot, and returned to him into the ark; for the waters were on the whole earth; and he put forth his hand, and took her, and brought her to him into the ark.

And the dove came to him at eventide; and behold, in her beak was an olive-leaf plucked off; and Noah knew that the waters had become low on the earth.

And he waited yet other seven days, and sent forth the dove; but she returned no more to him.

And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth. And Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and behold, the surface of the ground was dried.

And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.

And God spoke to Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,
