'In the World' in the Bible
There were tyrants in the world in those days. For after that the children of God had gone in unto the daughters of men and had begotten them children, the same children were the mightiest of the world and men of renown.
These are the kindreds of the sons of Noah, in their generations and nations. And of these came the people that were in the world after the flood.
Then Abimelech exclaimed, "What in the world have you done to us? One of the men might easily have had sexual relations with your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us!"
But Isaac asked his son, "How in the world did you find it so quickly, my son?" "Because the Lord your God brought it to me," he replied.
In the morning Jacob discovered it was Leah! So Jacob said to Laban, "What in the world have you done to me! Didn't I work for you in exchange for Rachel? Why have you tricked me?"
He said to his brothers, "My money was returned! Here it is in my sack!" They were dismayed; they turned trembling one to another and said, "What in the world has God done to us?"
The blessings of thy father were strong: even as the blessings of my elders, after the desire of the highest in the world. And these blessings shall fall on the head of Joseph, and on the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren.

and they said to Moses, "Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the desert? What in the world have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?
But the people were very thirsty there for water, and they murmured against Moses and said, "Why in the world did you bring us up out of Egypt -- to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?"
When ye be come, ye shall come unto a people that casteth no perils, and unto a large country: for God hath given into your hands a place wherein is no lack of anything that is in the world."
Everyone in the world wanted to visit Solomon to see him display his God-given wisdom.
“No doubt you are the [only wise] people [in the world],And wisdom will die with you!
Look, you all have seen, and {why in the world} {have you become altogether vain}?
"But from where will wisdom be found? And {where in the world} [is the] place of understanding?
Indeed, from where does wisdom come? And {where in the world} [is the] place of understanding?
Let the whole earth fear the Lord! Let all who live in the world stand in awe of him!
Give attention to this, all you peoples; let your ears be open, all you who are living in the world.
Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
rejoicing in the world of his earth, and my delight [was] with the children of humankind.
And so I applied my mind to learn wisdom, and to know the travail that is in the world; and that of such a fashion that I suffered not my eyes to sleep neither day nor night.
so that they be neither loved, hated nor envied: neither have they anymore part in the world, in all that is done under the Sun.
All you who live in the world, who reside on the earth, you will see a signal flag raised on the mountains; you will hear a trumpet being blown.
Thus shall it happen after seventy years. The LORD shall visit the city of Tyre, and she shall convert unto her reward, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms that be in the world.

As a result, none of its watered trees will grow tall, their tops will never reach to the clouds, and they'll never grow so high again, because all of them have been appointed to death in the world beneath where human beings go, that is, down to the Pit.'"
I made the nations tremble when they heard that Assyria was falling, descending into Sheol to join those who go down into the Pit. Then all of the trees of Eden in the world below were comforted, including the choicest and best of Lebanon, all of whom were well-watered.
You people are [like] light in the world. A city built on a hill will not go unnoticed.
And you will be hated by everyone because of [your association with] My name, but it is the one who has patiently persevered and endured to the end who will be saved.
Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit [by attributing the miracles done by Me to Satan] will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
For nations will wage war against one another, and kingdoms will attack one another. And famines and earthquakes will occur at various places [in the world].
It is like a mustard-seed, which, when sown in the earth, is the smallest of all the seeds in the world;
and his clothes became radiantly white, more so than any launderer in the world could bleach them.
But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
And that to love Him with all one's heart, with all one's understanding, and with all one's strength, and to love one's neighbor the same way he loves himself, are far more [important] than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices [in the world]."
For nations will wage war against one another, and kingdoms will attack one another. And earthquakes will happen at various places [in the world], and there will be famines. These things are [only] the beginning of terrible times.
Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
The Jews meanwhile kept looking for him at feast, and saying, "Where is he?" "I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own Name these whom thou hast given me, that they may be one as we are one.
No one, however, was speaking openly about him, for fear of the Jews. "But now I am coming to thee, and I am speaking these things while I am in the world, so that they may have my joy in all its fulness in themselves.

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
So they kept on asking him, "How in the world did you come to see?"
