to the church of God at Corinth, to those who are consecrated by union with Christ Jesus, and called as God's people, like all those anywhere who call on the name of Jesus Christ, their Lord as well as ours;

(Well, I did baptize the household of Stephanas, but no one else, as far as I remember.)

For, seeing that, in the wisdom of God, the world, through its wisdom, did not get to knew God, God was well-pleased - through the foolishness of the thing proclaimed, to save them that believe.

For consider your calling, brothers, that not many [were] wise according to human standards, not many [were] powerful, not many [were] well born.

It is because of God that you are in union with the Messiah Jesus, who for us has become wisdom from God, as well as our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.

For I did not judge it well to know anything among you save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

For who ever understood the thoughts of the Lord, so as to give him instruction? No one. Well, our thoughts are Christ's thoughts.

For it seems to me, God has exhibited us apostles at the very end of the procession, like the men condemned to die in the arena. For we have become a spectacle to the whole universe, angels as well as men.

For we have become a spectacle to the universe, to angels as well as men. For Christ's sake we are held as fools, while you through union with Christ are men of wisdom. We are weak; you are strong. You are held in honor; we in dishonor.

Now concerning the question in your letter. It is well for a man to have no intercourse with a woman,

The wife does not have [sole] authority over her own [physical] body, but the husband [also has his right to it]. And in the same way, the husband also does not have [sole] authority over his own [physical] body, but the wife [i.e., has her right to it, as well].

But to the unmarried, and the widows, I say that it is well for them to remain as I am.

But, unto the rest, say, I - not the Lord, - if, any brother, hath, a wife that believeth not, and, she, is well pleased to dwell with him, let him not leave her;

And, a woman who hath a husband that believeth not, and, he, is well pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave her husband; -

I think then that because of the impending distress [that is, the pressure of the current trouble], it is good for a man to remain as he is.

Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.

So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better.

But she will be happier, in my judgment, if she remains as she is, and I think I have God's spirit as well as other people.

If a man thinks he has acquired some knowledge, he does not yet know it as well as he ought to know it.

Now as to eating food that has been offered to idols, we know well that an idol has no real existence in the universe, and that there is no God but One.

It cannot be that we have no right to take a Christian wife about with us, can it, as well as the rest of the apostles and the Lord's brothers, and Cephas?

Am I saying these things only on the basis of common sense, or does the law not say this as well?

Well, I run without swerving; I do not plant my blows upon the empty air ??27 no, I maul and master my body, in case, after preaching to other people, I am disqualified myself.

And all drank the same spiritual drink (for they drank out of the spiritual rock which followed them; and that rock was Christ) Yet, with the most of them, God was not well-pleased;

But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

No one should look out for his own interests [only], but for the interests of others [as well].

For if a woman be not covered, she may as well be shorn: but if it be shameful to a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered.

If, however, any one still thinks it right to contest the point-well, we have no such custom, nor have the Churches of God.

Well then, my brothers, when you gather for a meal, wait for one another;

while our well-shaped parts do not want for anything. Yes, God has perfectly adjusted the body, giving great honor to its apparently inferior parts,

So it is with you; unless in your ecstatic speaking you speak a message that is clearly intelligible, how can the message spoken by you be understood? You might just as well be talking to the air!

Well, unless I understand the meaning of what is said to me, I shall appear to the speaker to be talking gibberish, and to my mind he will be talking gibberish himself.

Therefore, the person who speaks in a language [supernaturally] should pray [i.e., in advance] for the ability to interpret it [as well].

What, then, is my conclusion? Simply this-I will pray with my spirit, but with my mind as well; I will sing with my spirit, but with my mind as well.

Thou verily givest thanks well: but the other is not edified.

Very well then, brothers; when you meet together, each contributes something ??a song of praise, a lesson, a revelation, a 'tongue,' an interpretation? Good, but let every thing be for edification.

Of preachers two or three should speak, and the rest should weigh well what is said.

You can all prophesy quite well, one after another, so as to let all learn and all be encouraged.

Well then, my beloved brothers, hold your ground, immovable; abound in work for the Lord at all times, for you may be sure that in the Lord your labour is never thrown away.

On the first day of the week, let every one of you put by him in store, in measure as he has done well in business, so that it may not be necessary to get money together when I come.

for I have a great and promising opportunity here, as well as many opponents.

If Timothy visit you, take care he may be perfectly safe: for he labours in the cause of christianity, as well as I.

to be subject to such leaders [treating them with courtesy and respect], and to everyone who helps in the work and labors [for the benefit of yourselves and the church].

For they have refreshed my spirit as well as yours: have a due regard therefore to such worthy persons.

All the believers greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
