If indeed meat causes my brother to stumble, I never eat any more meat, in order that I may not lay a stumblingblock in the way of my brother.

Am I not free [unrestrained and exempt from any obligation]? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our [risen] Lord [in person]? Are you not [the result and proof of] my work in the Lord?

If I am not an apostle to others, yet at any rate I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.

Who serveth as a soldier, at his own charges, at any time? Who planteth a vineyard, - and, the fruit thereof, doth not eat? Orwho shepherdeth a flock, - and, of the milk of the flock, doth not eat?

If, others, of this right, over you, are partaking, should not rather, we? nevertheless, we used not this right; but, all such things, do we conceal, - lest we should cause any hindrance unto the glad message of the Christ.

But I have not made use of any of these things: and I am not writing this in the hope that it may be so for me: for it would be better for me to undergo death, than for any man to make this pride of mine of no effect.

Yes, indeed, though I am free from any human power, I have made myself a slave to everybody, to win as many as possible.

to men who have no written law, like one without any law, though I am not without God's law but specially under Christ's law, to win the men who have no written law.

I am become weak to the weak, to win the weak. I am become all these things to all men that, by any and by all means, I may save some.

Any man who enters an athletic contest practices rigid self-control in training, only to win a wreath that withers, but we are in to win a wreath that never withers.

That is how I run, not being in any doubt as to my goal. I am a boxer who does not inflict blows on the air,

But am beating my body under, and leading it captive, lest, by any means, - unto others, having proclaimed, the contest , I myself, should be rejected.

Therefore let any one who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.

You have been put to no test but such as is common to man: and God is true, who will not let any test come on you which you are not able to undergo; but he will make with the test a way out of it, so that you may be able to go through it.

Therefore, my beloved, run [keep far, far away] from [any sort of] idolatry [and that includes loving anything more than God, or participating in anything that leads to sin and enslaves the soul].

What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

What I say is that the things offered by the Gentiles are offered to evil spirits and not to God; and it is not my desire for you to have any part with evil spirits.

whatever is sold in the shambles, that eat, without making any scrupulous enquiry.

If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.

But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:

So then, if it is a question of food or drink, or any other thing, whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Any man who prays or preaches with anything on his head dishonors his head,

and any woman who prays or prophesies bareheaded dishonors her head, for it is one and the same thing with having her head shaved.

In any case, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman.

But if any man will not be ruled in this question, this is not our way of doing things, and it is not done in the churches of God.

For, when ye eat, every one taketh before any distribution his own supper, and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

A man, then, must examine himself, and only in this way should he eat any of the bread and drink from the cup.

For any one who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgement to himself, if he fails to estimate the body aright.

If any man is in need of food, let him take his meal in his house; so that you may not come together to your damage. And the rest I will put in order when I come.

If the foot says, "Since I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body," that does not make it any less a part of the body.

If the ear says, "Since I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body," that does not make it any less a part of the body.

lest there should be any strife in the body: but that the members should indifferently care for one another.

is not self-interested, is not easily provoked, nor suspects any ill;

And even inanimate instruments of sound, whether pipe or harp, except they have a distinct variety of notes, how can they express any significant tune?

in like manner, if you express yourselves in words of obscure signification, you may as well talk to the wind, for how shall any comprehend you?

Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how can any one in the position of an outsider say the "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying?

Thank God, I speak in ecstasy more than any of you.

and if all may prophecy, and any one may come in, an unbeliever or unlearned, he is convicted by all, he is discerned by all,

What is then to be done, my brethren? when ye come together, if any of you hath a psalm, a doctrine, a tongue, a revelation, an interpretation,---let all be done for edification.

If any person speaks in another language, there should be only two, or at the most three, each in turn, and someone must interpret.

Let two or three of the prophets speak, and let the rest judge. But if any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by,

If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.

And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

To sum up, my brothers. Set your heart on the prophetic gift, and do not put any check upon speaking in 'tongues';

But by God’s grace I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not ineffective. However, I worked more than any of them, yet not I, but God’s grace that was with me.

At any rate, whether I or they have done most, such is what we preach, such is what you believed.

If we have set our hopes on the Messiah in this life only, we deserve more pity than any other people.

Sober up, as is right, and stop sinning, for some of you -- to your shame I say so -- are without any true knowledge of God.

But will any man say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?

And, what thou sowest, not the body that shall come into existence, dost thou sow, but a naked kernel - if it so happen, of wheat, or of any of the rest, -

On my arrival, I will send any persons, whom you may authorize by letter, to carry your gift to Jerusalem;

The chances are, I shall spend some time with you, possibly even pass the winter with you, so that you may speed me forward on any journey that lies before me.

Let not therefore any one despise him; but set him forward in peace, that he may come to me; for I expect him with the brethren.

But, concerning Apollos the brother, much, did I beseech him, that he would come unto you, with the brethren, but there was, by no means, any will, that he should come, now; - he will come, however, as soon as he hath good opportunity.

Who encourageth us in all our tribulation, to the end we may be able to encourage them who are in any tribulation - through means of the encouragement wherewith we, ourselves, are encouraged by God.

For I do not want you to be uninformed about the sorrow that I suffered in Asia, because I was so crushed beyond any power to endure that I was in dire despair of life itself.

Did I display any vacillation or caprice in this? Or the purposes which I form--do I form them on worldly principles, now crying "Yes, yes," and now "No, no"?

I call God to witness, and may I die if it is not true, that the reason of my not coming yet to Corinth, was to avoid using any severity towards you.

But I purposed in my self, I would not be the occasion of any uneasiness to you when I come again.

But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.

So that, on the contrary, ye should forgive and encourage, lest, by any means, by his excessive grief, such a one should be swallowed up.

On the contrary, now, no longer, are we gaining it. So that, if any one is in Christ, there is a new creation! the old things, have passed away, - Lo! they have become new!

And being also co-laborers we exhort you not to receive the grace of God in vain,??2 for he says, In an acceptable time I heard you, and in a day of salvation I helped you; behold, now is an acceptable time, behold, now is a day of salvation,??3 giving no offense in any thing, that the ministry may not be blamed,

Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:

Therefore, come out from among them
and be separate, says the Lord;
do not touch any unclean thing,
and I will welcome you.

Let your hearts be open to us: we have done no man wrong, no man has been damaged by us, we have made no profit out of any man,

Now I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because your grief led to repentance. For you were grieved as God willed, so that you didn’t experience any loss from us.

wherefore, my writing to you so severely did not proceed from any prejudice to him, that had done the wrong, or from favour to him that suffered wrong, but to show my conscientious regard to your welfare.

For if I have boasted any thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spake all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which I made before Titus, is found a truth.

I am not issuing any orders, only using the zeal of others to prove how sterling your own love is.

for if the willing mind is present, according to that which any one may have it is well-accepted, not according to that which he hath not;

But so that things may be equal; that from those things of which you have more than enough at the present time their need may be helped, and that if you are in any need they may be a help to you in the same way, making things equal.

as it is written [Ex. 16:18], "The person who gathered much [i.e., manna] did not have any left over, and the one who gathered [only] a little [still] had plenty."

And we have sent [i.e., are sending] with him the brother who is praised throughout all the churches for [his work in] preaching the Gospel [Note: This "brother" cannot be identified with any certainty].

avoiding this, lest any one may blame us in this abundance that is ministered by us,

Whether any do inquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellowhelper concerning you: or our brethren be inquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ.

I do not need to write to you any further about the ministry to the saints.

For if any Macedonians come with me and find you not ready, shame would come upon me (not to speak of you) in respect to this confidence.

let every man give as he is disposed in his own mind, without any regret or reluctance: for God loves a cheerful benefactor.

Besides, God is able to make every blessing of yours overflow for you, so that in every situation you will always have all you need for any good work.

the weapons of my warfare are not weapons of the flesh, but divinely strong to demolish fortresses ??5 I demolish theories and any rampart thrown up to resist the knowledge of God, I take every project prisoner to make it obey Christ,

And we are ready to punish any disobedience, once your obedience has been confirmed.

Look these facts in the face. If any man is fully persuaded as regards himself that he belongs to Christ, let him consider again with himself, that just as he is Christ's, so also am I.

For if I shall in any thing the more abundantly boast concerning our power which the Lord gave us for your edification, and not for your destruction, I will not be ashamed:

I will not boast of any thing done without my province, but confine myself within that line by which God has mark'd out my bounds, and in which you are included.

But I fear lest, by any means, as, the serpent, completely deceived Eve, in his craftiness, your minds should be corrupted from the singleness and the chastenesswhich are due unto the Christ.

I do not think I'm inferior in any way to those "super-apostles."

Did I do wrong in taking a lowly place to let you have an exalted one, in that I preached the good news about God to you without accepting any pay?

I robbed other churches, taking wages to do you service: and when I was present with you, and wanted, I was not a burden to any one;

Even when I lacked the actual necessities of life while I was with you, I was a burden to no one; for whatever I lacked, the brothers from Macedonia supplied, when they came. So I kept myself from being a burden to you in any way, and will continue to do so.

As surely as I know anything of the Truth of Christ, this boast, as far as I am concerned, shall not be stopped in any part of Greece.
