And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
The man named his wife Eve (life spring, life giver), because she was the mother of all the living.
And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
So Mahalalel’s life lasted 895 years; then he died.
So Methuselah’s life lasted 969 years; then he died.
And the Lord said, My spirit will not be in man for ever, for he is only flesh; so the days of his life will be a hundred and twenty years.
And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.
All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
In the six hundred and first year of Noah's life, during the first month, the flood water began to evaporate from the land. Noah then removed the ark's cover and saw that the surface of the land was drying.
And Yahweh smelled the soothing fragrance, and Yahweh said {to himself}, "{Never again will I curse} the ground for the sake of humankind, because the inclination of the heart of humankind [is] evil from his youth. {Nor will I ever again destroy} all life as I have done.
But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.
Whoever takes a man's life, by man will his life be taken; because God made man in his image.
And all the years of Terah's life were two hundred and five: and Terah came to his end in Haran.
Please say you’re my sister so it will go well for me because of you, and my life will be spared on your account.”
As for you, you will go to your fathers in peace; at the end of a long life you will be put in your last resting-place.
So that fountain was named, Fountain of Life and Vision: it is between Kadesh and Bered.
And Abraham said to God, If only Ishmael's life might be your care!
And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.
And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:
now behold, this town is near enough to flee to, and it is small. Please, let me escape there (is it not small?) that my life may be saved.”
So now, give the man back his wife, for he is a prophet, and let him say a prayer for you, so your life may be safe: but if you do not give her back, be certain that death will come to you and all your house.
And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: these were the years of the life of Sarah.
And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.
then passed away, dying at a ripe old age, having lived a full life, and joined his ancestors.
And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.
He became very wealthy and lived a life of wealth, becoming more and more wealthy.
They made life bitter for Isaac and Rebekah.
And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?
And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
And it happened [that] when her life was departing (for she was dying), she called his name Ben-Oni. But his father called him Benjamin.
Then Isaac breathed his last and joined his ancestors. He died an old man who had lived a full life. His sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons because he was a son born to him late in life, and he made a special tunic for him.
When Reuben heard this, he tried to save him from them. He said, “Let’s not take his life.”
But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was evil in the sight of the Lord, so the Lord took his life.
But what he did was displeasing in the sight of the Lord; so He took his life also.
Joseph named his firstborn son Manasseh because, he said, "God has made me forget all of my hard life and my father's house."
And he said, I have had news that there is grain in Egypt: go down there and get grain for us, so that life and not death may be ours.
Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither.
Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies.
I myself pledge security for him; you may hold me liable. If I do not bring him back to you and place him here before you, I will bear the blame before you all my life.
Now therefore when I come to thy servant my father, and the lad be not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad's life;
Also, your servant pledged his own life as a guarantee of the young man's safety. I told my father, "If I don't bring him back to you, you can blame me forever.'
Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.
and God sendeth me before you, to place of you a remnant in the land, and to give life to you by a great escape;
When they told him everything that Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of their father Jacob revived.
And Pharaoh saith unto Jacob, 'How many are the days of the years of thy life?'
And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.
Are we to come to destruction before your eyes, we and our land? take us and our land and give us bread; and we and our land will be servants to Pharaoh; and give us seed so that we may have life and the land may not become waste.
Now Jacob lived in the land of Egypt 17 years, and his life span was 147 years.
And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,
Now Joseph and all his father's family went on living in Egypt: and the years of Joseph's life were a hundred and ten.
and they embittered their life with hard labour in clay and bricks, and in all manner of labour in the field: all their labour with which they made them serve was with harshness.
And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.
Then Zipporah took a flint knife and cut off the foreskin of her son and threw it at Moses’ feet, and said, “Indeed you are a husband of blood to me!”
And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari: and the years of the life of Levi were an hundred thirty and seven years.
And the sons of Kohath; Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel: and the years of the life of Kohath were an hundred thirty and three years.
And Amram took him Jochebed his father's sister to wife; and she bare him Aaron and Moses: and the years of the life of Amram were an hundred and thirty and seven years.
And he said, If with all your heart you will give attention to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in his eyes, giving ear to his orders and keeping his laws, I will not put on you any of the diseases which I put on the Egyptians: for I am the Lord your life-giver.
Honor your father and your mother so that you may have a long life in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
his master is to bring him to the judges and then bring him to the door or doorpost. His master must pierce his ear with an awl, and he will serve his master for life.
And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,
If there be laid on him a sum of money, then he shall give for the ransom of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.
"You must not oppress a foreigner, since you know the life of a foreigner, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.
No woman will miscarry or be barren in your land, and I'll make every day of your life complete.
"When you take a census of the Israelites according to their number, then each man is to pay a ransom for his life to the Lord when you number them, so that there will be no plague among them when you number them.
But whatever is in the seas and in the rivers that does not have fins and scales among all the teeming life of the water, and among all the living creatures that are in the water, they are detestable things to you,
And has not taken it to the door of the Tent of meeting, to make an offering to the Lord, before the Lord's House, its blood will be on him, for he has taken life, and he will be cut off from among his people:
For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.
So keep my rules and my decisions, which, if a man does them, will be life to him: I am the Lord.
'And a woman unto another thou dost not take, to be an adversary, to uncover her nakedness beside her, in her life.
You must not go about spreading slander among your people; you must not jeopardize your neighbor’s life; I am Yahweh.
And if a man from another country is living in your land with you, do not make life hard for him;
So you shall keep My commandments and do them; I am the Lord.
‘If a man takes the life of any human being, he shall surely be put to death.
Whoever kills an animal is to make restitution for it, life for life.
And he who smiteth a beast repayeth it, and he who smiteth the life of man is put to death;
You may leave them to your sons after you to inherit as property; you can make them slaves for life. But concerning your brothers, the Israelites, you must not rule over one another harshly.
then I will do this to you: I will bring terror on you—wasting disease and fever that will cause your eyes to fail and your life to ebb away. You will sow your seed in vain because your enemies will eat it.
"If you live life contrary to me and remain unwilling to listen to me, then I'll add to your wounds seven times more on account of your sins.
"If, despite these things, you still won't return to me, but live life contrary to me,
