And it will come about that everyone who is still living, of all those nations who came against Jerusalem, will go up from year to year to give worship to the King, the Lord of armies, and to keep the feast of tents.
And you say, See, what a weariness it is! and you let out your breath at it, says the Lord of armies; and you have given what has been cut about by beasts, and what is damaged in its feet and ill; this is the offering you give: will this be pleasing to me from your hands? says the Lord.
I am about to discipline your children and will spread offal on your faces, the very offal produced at your festivals, and you will be carried away along with it.
"Look! I [am] going to send my messenger, and he will prepare [the] way {before me}. And the Lord whom you [are] seeking will come suddenly to his temple, and the messenger of the covenant, [in] whom you [are] taking pleasure--look!--[he is] about to come," says Yahweh of hosts.
You have said, 'It is useless to serve God. How have we been helped by keeping his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord who rules over all?
Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other. The LORD listened and took note, and a scroll of remembrance was written in his presence about those who fear the LORD and honor His name.

The birth of Jesus Christ came about this way: After His mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, it was discovered before they came together that she was pregnant by the Holy Spirit.
But while he was thinking about the matter, [suddenly] an angel from the Lord appeared to him in a dream [i.e., a supernatural revelation given during sleep], saying, "Joseph, you descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary to be your wife, for the baby she is carrying is by [the power of] the Holy Spirit.
Now Jesus was born in Bethlehem [a small town] in Judea during the time when Herod [the Great] was king [of Judea]. About that time some astrologer/sages from the east [i.e., Persia] came to Jerusalem, saying,
so he gathered all the high priests and scribes of the people and made inquiries of them about where the messiah was to be born.
Then Herod sent for the wise men privately, and put questions to them about what time the star had been seen.
And having sent them to Bethlehem, he said, After going, search diligently about the child. And when ye find him, report to me, so that I also having come, may worship him.
Now [after] they had gone away, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying, "Get up, take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. For Herod is about to seek the child to destroy him."
Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, was very angry; and he sent out, and put to death all the male children in Beth-lehem and in all the parts round about it, from two years old and under, acting on the knowledge which he had got with care from the wise men.
About this time, John the Baptist appeared, preaching in the Judean wilderness,
For this is the one who was spoken about by the prophet Isaiah, saying, "The voice of one crying out in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.'"
And John himself had his garment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins, and his nourishment was locusts and wild honey.
Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Jewry, and all the regions round about Jordan,
And having seen many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming about his baptism, he said to them, 'Brood of vipers! who did shew you to flee from the coming wrath?
and said to Him, "If you are God's Son, throw yourself down, for the Scripture says: "'He will give His angels directions about you, And they will bear you up on their hands, so you will never strike your foot against a stone.'"
and the land of Nephthalim, lying upon the sea, and about Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles:
about Jordan, Galilee of the gentiles, the people that sat in darkness, saw a great light, and to them, who sat in the region and shadow of death, light is sprung up."
From that time Jesus went about preaching and saying, Let your hearts be turned from sin, for the kingdom of heaven is near.
And Jesus, walking about by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon being called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a sweep-net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healed all manner of sickness and all manner diseases among the people.
And a report about him went out {throughout} Syria, and they brought to him all those {who were sick} with various diseases and afflicted by torments, demon-possessed and epileptics and paralytics, and he healed them.
and a great multitude of people followed him from Galilee, from Decapolis, from Jerusalem, from Judea, and from about Jordan.
You will be blessed when people speak against you and harm you and say bad things about you that are untrue, because of [your devotion to] me.
It is true when I say to you, you will not be released from there until you have paid the last coin. [Note: The coin mentioned here amounted to about ten minutes' worth of a farm laborer's pay, or a little over one dollar in 1994].
and if you only salute your friends, what is special about that? do not the very pagans do as much?
When then you give money to the poor, do not make a noise about it, as the false-hearted men do in the Synagogues and in the streets, so that they may have glory from men. Truly, I say to you, They have their reward.
And when you go without food, be not sad-faced as the false-hearted are. For they go about with changed looks, so that men may see that they are going without food. Truly I say to you, They have their reward.

Which of you can add an ell to his height by troubling about it?
And why are you anxious about clothing? Observe the lilies of the field, how they grow: they do not toil or spin,
things which the Gentiles are so thoughtful about, and which your heavenly Father knows that you want.
But first be concerned about God's kingdom and his righteousness, and all of these things will be provided for you as well.
Be not careful therefore for the morrow, for the morrow shall be careful about itself. Sufficient to the day is its own evil.

And it came about, when Jesus had come to the end of these words, that the people were surprised at his teaching,
And Jesus said to him, See that you say nothing about this to anyone; but go and let the priest see you and make the offering which was ordered by Moses, for a witness to them.
When Jesus saw much people about him, he commanded to go over the water.
So they came and woke him up saying, "Lord, save us! We are about to die!"
Now a large herd of [wild] hogs [i.e., about of them. See Mark 5:13] was grazing some distance away from them.
And the men who tended them ran away and went off to the town and told it all, and the news about the men possessed by demons.
For whether is it easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or, Arise, and walk about?
And it came about, when he was in the house taking food, that a number of tax-farmers and sinners came and took their places with Jesus and his disciples.
Then Jesus turned him about, and beheld her, saying, "Daughter, be of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee safe." And she was made whole even that same hour.
And the news about her spread all over that country.
And their eyes were opened. And Jesus strictly commanded them, saying, "See that no one knows about this."
But they went out [and] spread the report about him in that whole region.
And Jesus went about all cities and towns, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the glad tidings of the kingdom, and healing all manner sickness and disease among the people.
And seeing the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and scattered about, as sheep having no shepherd.
And as you go about, preach and say, 'The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!'
But when they turn you over to the courts, you must not worry at all about how or what you ought to speak, for it will be given you at that hour what you ought to speak.
Are not two sparrows sold [in the market for food] for a small coin [Note: The coin mentioned here was worth about a half hour's worth of a farm laborer's pay, or about $3 in 1994]? And not a [single] one of them can fall to the ground without your Father [knowing about it].
And it came about that when Jesus had come to the end of giving these orders to his twelve disciples, he went away from there, teaching and preaching in their towns.

But to what can I compare this present age? It is like children sitting about in the bazaars and calling out to their playmates,
About that time Jesus said [in prayer], "I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things [i.e., the significance of Jesus' words and works] from those who [thought they] were wise and intelligent and have [instead] revealed them to people who are child-like.
Accept my reins [on your life], and learn about me, because I am gentle and humble, and [in my service] you will experience rest in your spirits.
About that time Jesus was walking through a grainfield on the Sabbath day. His disciples were hungry so began picking off some heads of grain to eat [the kernels]. [Note: It was an accepted practice for people in that day to be permitted to do this as they walked along paths bordering a grainfield].
But the Pharisees left the synagogue and consulted about him, with a view to putting him to death.
But Jesus knew of this, and he left that place. And numbers of people followed him about, and he cured them all,
and warned them not to say anything about him
He will not [even] break a wilted stalk or put out a smoldering [lamp] wick until He exercises judgment [upon mankind through the Gospel] in order to bring about victory [i.e., in people's lives].
Therefore, I tell you, men will be forgiven for any sin or abusive speech, but abusive speech about the Spirit cannot be forgiven.
And whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be remitted to him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be let go to him, neither in this time, nor that about to be.
You brood of vipers! How can you, wicked as you are, say anything that is good? For the mouth talks about the things that fill the heart.
But I say to you, that every idle word, whatever men may speak, they will render account about it in the day of judgment.
"Whenever the foul spirit goes out of a man, it wanders about in deserts in search of rest, but cannot find it.
And the crowds that gathered about Him were so great that He got into a boat and remained sitting in it, while all the crowd stood on the seashore.
He answered them, "You have been given knowledge about the secrets of the kingdom from heaven, but it hasn't been given to them,
[When] anyone hears the word about the kingdom and does not understand [it], the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is what was sown on the side of the path.
But the sown among the thorns, is he who heareth the word, and the anxiety about this world and the deceitfulness of riches, choketh the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
But he said, 'Nay, lest while ye go about to weed out the tares, ye pluck up also with them the wheat by the roots.
After he had sent the people away and gone into the house, his disciples came to him and said, "Explain to us the parable about the weeds in the field."
"The Kingdom of the Heavens is like treasure buried in the open country, which a man finds, but buries again, and, in his joy about it, goes and sells all he has and buys that piece of ground.
He said to them,
At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the report about Jesus
Jesus' disciples came and took the body and buried it; then they went and told Jesus [all about the incident].
When Jesus heard about it,
And going out he saw a great crowd, and was moved with compassion about them, and healed their infirm.
Now those who ate were about five thousand men, in addition to women and children.
And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were sick,
For God said, [Ex. 20:12], 'Give honor to your father and mother.' and [Ex. 21:17], 'Whoever says bad things about his father or mother should surely be put to death.'
Hypocrites! Isaiah correctly prophesied about you saying,
And the crowds were astonished, when they saw the dumb talking, the cripples made sound, the lame walking about, and the blind with their sight restored; and they praised the God of Israel.
