For, truly, in this town, against your holy servant, Jesus, who was marked out by you as Christ, Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, came together,
For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
And now, Lord, look down upon their threatenings, and grant to thy servants with all boldness to speak thy word,
By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

Saying - Strictly, did we charge you not to be teaching upon this name; and lo! ye have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and are minded to bring down upon us, the blood of this man.
but if it be from God, ye will not be able to put them down, lest ye be found also fighters against God.
They also brought forward false witnesses to say, "This fellow is never done talking against this holy Place and the Law!
for we have heard him say that this Jesus the Nazarene will tear down this place and will change the traditions and customs which Moses handed down to us.”
But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent his sons [down there] on their first trip.

Nay! but ye took with you the tent of Moloch, and the star of the god Rephan, - the forms which ye made to bow down unto them: therefore will I carry you away beyond Babylon.
"Our forefathers had the Tabernacle of the Testimony in the wilderness [i.e., the tent containing the ten commandments], which God instructed Moses to make according to the model he was shown.
This Tabernacle, which was handed down to them, was brought into this country by our ancestors who accompanied Joshua (at the conquest of the nations that God drove out before their advance), and remained here until the time of David.
And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.

Now at Joppa [Note: This was also a town on the west coast of Palestine, today called "Jaffa," and is now a part of Tel Aviv] there was a certain disciple named Tabitha (she was also called Dorcas, which means "Gazelle"). She practiced many good deeds and always gave money to poor people.
Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples heard that Peter was there and sent two men to him who begged him, “Don’t delay in coming with us.”
But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
The next day, as they were on their way and were approaching the city, Peter went up on
And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
and the voice spake to him again the second time, don't call that common, which God calls clean.
This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.
While Peter thought on this vision, the spirit said unto him, "Behold, men seek thee: arise therefore, get thee down,
Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.
Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?
And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came down
I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
But a voice answered me the second time out of heaven, 'What God has cleansed, don't you call unclean.'
And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.
“As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came down on them, just as on us at the beginning.
When they heard this, they calmed down, and praised God by saying, "So God has given repentance that leads to life even to gentiles."
And the news about [what was being done by] these people reached the church in Jerusalem, so that they sent Barnabas to Antioch [in Syria].
When he arrived, he rejoiced to see what the grace of God had done, and with hearty determination he kept encouraging all of them to remain faithful to the Lord,
Then he went on to Tarsus to look for Saul [Note: Tarsus was the home town of Saul, who was later called Paul],
Now in these days there came down prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
The chains dropped from his wrists, and then the angel said: "Put on your girdle and sandals." When Peter had done so, the angel added: "Throw your cloak round you and follow me."
And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
And having passed through a first and second guard, they came to the iron gate which leads into the city, which opened to them of itself; and going forth they went down one street, and immediately the angel left him.
And they said unto her, "Thou art mad." And she bare them down that it was even so. Then said they, "It is his angel."
And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode.

And now, see, the hand of the Lord is on you, and you will be blind and not able to see the sun for a time. And straight away a dark mist came down on him; and he went about looking for a guide.
Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.
Now Paul and his companions sailed from Paphos and arrived at Perga [a town in the province] of Pamphylia. [It was here that] John Mark left the party [of evangelists and attendants] and returned to [his home in] Jerusalem. [See 12:12].
But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.
and afterwards He gave them judges down to the time of the Prophet Samuel.
And after he had put him down, he set up David to be their king: of whom he gave reported, saying, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, he shall fulfill all my will.'

The following Sabbath almost the whole town assembled to hear the message of the Lord.
But the Jews incited the devout, prominent women and the leading men of the city, and instigated persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them forcibly out of their district.
Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
