Do not be overcome and conquered by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.
But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.
Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.
Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.
Hast thou been called being a bondman, let it not concern thee; but and if thou canst become free, use it rather.
You were bought, and the price was paid. Do not let yourselves become slaves to men.
Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.
Now this is my opinion in the light of the present distress: That it is a good thing for a man to remain as he is.
But I say this, believers: the
let mourners live as if they were not mourning, let the joyful live as if they had no joy, let buyers live as if they had no hold on their goods,
let those who mix in the world live as if they were not engrossed in it, for the present phase of things is passing away.
But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry.
For if somebody sees you, who are intelligent about this matter, attending a dinner in an idol's temple, will not he, with his sensitive conscience, be led to eat meat that is offered to idols?
So, this weak brother, for whose sake Christ died, becomes [spiritually] destroyed, [and all] because of your "knowledge" [i.e., you know that such eating is harmless, but your weak brother does not know this, so he is led into sin by your unloving example].
Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
But I have not used any of these rights, and I'm not writing this so that they may be applied in my case. I would rather die than let anyone deprive me of my reason for boasting.
For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
Do you not see that in a running competition all take part, but only one gets the reward? So let your minds be fixed on the reward.
But I buffet my body, and lead it captive, lest after having preached to others I should be myself rejected.
But with most of them God was not well pleased; for they were laid low in the Desert.
Let's stop being idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to play."
Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
It all happened to them by way of warning for others, and it was written down for the purpose of instructing us whose lot has been cast in the closing hours of the world.
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy].
Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.
But if someone says to you, "This meat has been offered in sacrifice," let it alone, on account of the man who told you and his conscientious scruples;
But if I give praise to God for the food which I take, let no man say evil of me for that reason.
Whether, then, you are eating or drinking, or whatever you are doing, let everything be done to the glory of God.
Do not offend Jews or Greeks or even the church of God [but live to honor Him];
I praise you, indeed, because you never forget me, and are keeping my injunctions in mind, exactly as I laid them upon you.
For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
But if a woman let her hair flow, it is an ornament to her; for the hair was given her for a covering,
If there be any man among you that lusteth to strife, let him know that we have no such customs, neither the congregations of God.
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
So then, my brothers, when you come together to the holy meal of the Lord, let there be waiting for one another.
And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
But let your desires be turned to the more important things given by the Spirit. And now I am pointing out to you an even better way.
If I can speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but am destitute of Love, I have but become a loud-sounding trumpet or a clanging cymbal.
Charity never faileth: but as to prophecies, they shall be abolished; or tongues, they shall cease; or knowledge, it shall be laid aside.
but when that which is perfect is come, then that which is defective shall be laid aside.
When I was a child, I used to speak as a child, to prefer as child, to reason as a child: now I have become a man, I have laid aside the things of the child!
For now we see by reflected light, indistinctly; but then face to face: now I know partially; but then shall I know even as I am known.
Be eager in your pursuit of this Love, and be earnestly ambitious for spiritual gifts, but let it be chiefly so in order that you may prophesy.
