if you are the Son of God, throw your self down: for it is written, "he will charge his angels to take care of you, and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest you bruise your foot against a stone."

said he, will I give you, if you will prostrate your self and worship me.

Again, ye have heard that it hath been said to the antients, "Thou shalt not for swear thy self, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths."

and Jesus said to him, take care not to tell any man, but go thy way, shew thy self to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, that it may be a testimony against them.

And the centurion answered [and] said, "Lord, I am not worthy that you should come in under my roof. But only say the word and my slave will be healed.

For I also am a man subject to authority [of a higher rank], with soldiers subject to me; and I say to one, ‘Go!’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.”

And Jesus said to the centurion, "Go, as you have believed it will be done for you." And the slave was healed at that hour.

for she said within her self, if I do but touch his garment, I shall be cured:

It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the bond-servant like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul (Satan), how much more [will they speak evil of] the members of his household.

however she advanc'd, and throwing her self at his feet, cried, O Lord, assist me.

Then his master summoned him [and] said to him, 'Wicked slave! I forgave you all that debt because you implored me!

Should you not also have shown mercy to your fellow slave as I also showed mercy to you?'

"Who then is the faithful and wise slave whom the master has put in charge of his household slaves to give them their food at the right time?

Truly I tell you, he will put that slave in charge of his entire estate.

But if that evil slave should say {to himself}, 'My master is staying away for a long time,'

the master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect and at an hour that he does not know,

But his master answered [and] said to him, 'Evil and lazy slave! You knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather from where I did not scatter [seed].

And behold, one of those with Jesus extended his hand [and] drew his sword, and striking the slave of the high priest, cut off his ear.

Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a female slave came up to him [and] said, "You also were with Jesus the Galilean."

And [when he] went out to the gateway, another [female slave] saw him and said to those [who were] there, "This man was with Jesus the Nazarene."

and cry'd, you that could destroy the temple, and rebuild it in three days, now save thy self: if thou art the son of God, come down from the cross.

In his preaching John said, "One who is more powerful than I am will follow my ministry. I am not [even] worthy to stoop down and loosen the straps of His sandals [i.e., to serve as His slave].

said he, how you take the least notice of this to any man: but go, show your self to the priest, and offer for your cure what Moses commanded, that this may serve as a testimony against them.

if a kingdom be divided against it self, that kingdom cannot last.

Jesus took him away from the crowd to be alone with him. Putting his fingers into the man's ears, he touched the man's tongue with saliva.

and whoever wishes to be first and most important among you must be slave of all.

And he sent a slave to the tenant farmers at the proper time, so that he could collect [some] of the fruit of the vineyard from the tenant farmers.

But those tenants seized his slave, beat him, and sent him away empty-handed.

And again he sent to them another slave, and that one they struck on the head and dishonored.

He sent [still] another slave, whom they killed. He continued sending many more slaves; they beat some and killed others.

But a certain one of the bystanders, drawing [his] sword, struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear.

then the high priest rising up in the midst of the assembly, ask'd Jesus, saying, have you nothing to plead for your self? what say you to the evidence they give against you?

Now while Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the high priest's slave girls came by.

And the female slave, [when she] saw him, began to say again to the bystanders, "This man is one of them!"

Pilate spake to him again, and said, will you make no defence for your self? don't you hear what they urge against you?

because he has looked upon the humble state of his female slave, for behold, from now on all generations will consider me blessed,

next, the devil brought him to Jerusalem, and setting him on the battlements of the temple, said to him, if you be the son of God, throw your self down from this height,

upon which he said, no doubt you will urge me with this proverb, "physician heal thy self. what we have heard you perform'd in Capernaum, do likewise here in your own country."

and he charg'd him not to tell any man: but go, said he, present your self to the priest, and offer what the law requires for your purification, that it may be an evidence to them.

And Jesus answered and said to them: Have you not read even that which David did, when he was hungry him self, and those who were with him,

or how can you say to your brother, brother, let me take out the mote, that is in your eye, when you your self don't discern the beam that is in your own eye? hypocrite, first remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the mote out of your brother's eye.

So [when he] heard about Jesus, he sent Jewish elders to him, asking him that he would come [and] cure his slave.

And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying, "This officer deserves that you should do this for him [i.e., heal his slave],

For this reason neither did I consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word and my slave must be healed.

For I also am a man placed under authority, who has soldiers under me, and I say to this one, 'Go!' and he goes, and to another one, 'Come!' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this!' and he does [it]."

And [when they] returned to the house, those who had been sent found the slave healthy.

But give that which is within as charity [that is, acts of mercy and compassion, not as a public display, but as an expression of your faithfulness to God], and then indeed all things are clean for you.

Blessed [is] that slave whom his master will find so doing [when he] comes back.

Truly I tell you, he will put that slave in charge of his entire estate.

But if that slave should say {to himself}, 'My master is taking a long time to return,' and he begins to beat the male slaves and the female slaves and to eat and drink and get drunk,

the master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect and at an hour that he does not know, and will cut him in two and assign his place with the unbelievers.

but when you are invited, go place your self last; that he, who invited you, when he comes, may say to you, friend, go up higher: and that will do you honour before all the company at table.

And he sent his slave at the hour of the banquet to say to those who have been invited, 'Come, because now it is ready!'

And the slave came [and] reported these [things] to his master. Then the master of the house became angry [and] said to his slave, 'Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the city and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and lame!'

And the slave said, 'Sir, what you ordered has been done, and there is still room.'

And the master said to the slave, 'Go out into the highways and hedges and press [them] to come in, so that my house will be filled!

The slave replied, 'Your brother has returned, and your father has killed the fattened calf because he got his son back safe and sound.'

But he answered his father, "Listen! All these years I've worked like a slave for you. I've never disobeyed a command of yours. Yet you've never given me so much as a young goat for a festival so I could celebrate with my friends.

"And which of you who has a slave plowing or shepherding [sheep] who comes in from the field will say to him, 'Come here at once [and] recline at the table'?

The Pharisee stood and said this self-centered prayer, 'O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of men, robbers, rogues, adulterers, or even like this tax-collector.

Then the second slave appeared, and said, 'Master, your sum of money has earned five times more.'
