It came about after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends, because you have not spoken of Me what is right as My servant Job has.

So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord told them; and the Lord accepted Job.

In all the land no women were found so fair as Job’s daughters; and their father gave them inheritance among their brothers.

And cast away their cords from us!”

If there is injustice in my hands,

Vindicate me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.

The Lord has made Himself known;
He has executed judgment.

He lurks to catch the afflicted;
He catches the afflicted when he draws him into his net.

So that man who is of the earth will no longer cause terror.

In whose eyes a reprobate is despised,
But who honors those who fear the Lord;
He swears to his own hurt and does not change;

The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my cup;
You support my lot.

The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me.

Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will dwell securely.

A Prayer of David.
Hear a just cause, O Lord, give heed to my cry;
Give ear to my prayer, which is not from deceitful lips.

As for the deeds of men, by the word of Your lips
I have kept from the paths of the violent.

They have now surrounded us in our steps;
They set their eyes to cast us down to the ground.

He is like a lion that is eager to tear,
And as a young lion lurking in hiding places.

From men with Your hand, O Lord,
From men of the world, whose portion is in this life,
And whose belly You fill with Your treasure;
They are satisfied with children,
And leave their abundance to their babes.
