Then Jesus went into the Temple. While he was teaching, the high priests and the elders of the people came to him and asked, "By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?"

Jesus answered them, "I, too, will ask you one question. If you answer it for me, I will also tell you by what authority I am doing these things.

So they told Jesus, "We don't know." He in turn told them, "Then I won't tell you by what authority I am doing these things."

"But what do you think? A man had two sons. He went to the first and said, "Son, go and work in the vineyard today.'

Now when the owner of the vineyard returns, what will he do to those farmers?"

So tell us what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"

As for the resurrection from the dead, haven't you read what was spoken to you by God when he said,

"What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?" They told him, "David's."

You blind fools! What is more important, the gold or the sanctuary that made the gold holy?
