Longing for you in this way, we determined to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own souls, because you had become dear to us.

We know that we have passed over from death to life because we love the brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.

Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for sincere brotherly love, love one another fervently from the heart,

So then, my beloved and greatly desired brothers, my joy and crown, thus stand firm in the Lord, dear friends.

[since we] heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the saints,

in order that you may become blameless and innocent, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine as stars in the world,

for you were formerly darkness, but now [you are] light in the Lord. Live like children of light

You are the light of the world. A city located on top of a hill cannot be hidden,

For the sake of Zion I will not be silent, and for the sake of Jerusalem I will not maintain a quiet attitude, until her righteousness goes out like the bright light, and her salvation burns like a torch.

So may all your enemies perish, O Yahweh, but those who love him are like the rising sun at its brightest." And the land had rest for forty years.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of change.

And this is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light and there [is] no darkness in him at all.

The sun shall no longer be your light by day, and for bright light the moon shall not give you light, but Yahweh will be your everlasting light, and your God your glory.

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world! The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

So Jesus said to them, "Yet a little time the light is with you! Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness does not overtake you! And the one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, in order that you may become sons of light." Rejoice and be glad, because your reward [is] great in heaven, for in the [same] way they persecuted the prophets before you. "You are the salt of the earth. But if salt becomes tasteless, by what will it be made salty? It is good for nothing any longer except to be thrown outside [and] trampled under foot by people. You are the light of the world. A city located on top of a hill cannot be hidden, nor do they light a lamp and place it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it shines on all those in the house. In the [same] way let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Therefore become imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, just as also Christ loved us, and gave himself for us an offering and sacrifice to God for a fragrant smell. But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or greediness, must not even be named among you (as is fitting for saints), read more.
and obscenity, and foolish talk, or coarse jesting (which [are] not proper), but rather thanksgiving. For this you know {for certain}, that every sexually immoral [person], or unclean [person], or greedy [person] (who is an idolater), does not have an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these [things] the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience. Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need [of anything] to be written to you, for [you] yourselves well know that the day of the Lord is coming in the [same] way as a thief in the night. Whenever they say "Peace and security," then sudden destruction will overtake them like the birth pains of {a pregnant woman}, and they will not possibly escape. read more.
