Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took their respective firepans, and after putting fire in them, placed incense on it and offered strange fire before the LORD, which He had not commanded them. And fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed them, and they died before the LORD.

But Nadab and Abihu died when they offered strange fire before the Lord.

They killed the kings of Midian along with the rest of their slain: Evi and Rekem and Zur and Hur and Reba, the five kings of Midian; they also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword.

The sons of Israel also killed Balaam the son of Beor, the diviner, with the sword among the rest of their slain.

And Gideon the son of Joash died at a ripe old age and was buried in the tomb of his father Joash, in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

When Hazael king of Aram died, Ben-hadad his son became king in his place.

And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, died.

Then the one who brought the news replied, “Israel has fled before the Philistines and there has also been a great slaughter among the people, and your two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God has been taken.”

And they offered burnt offerings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada. Now when Jehoiada reached a ripe old age he died; he was one hundred and thirty years old at his death. They buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done well in Israel and to God and His house.

So after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable sickness. Now it came about in the course of time, at the end of two years, that his bowels came out because of his sickness and he died in great pain. And his people made no fire for him like the fire for his fathers. He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years; and he departed with no one's regret, and they buried him in the city of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.

So Joram slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Ahaziah his son became king in his place.

But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?’

“They will die of deadly diseases, they will not be lamented or buried; they will be as dung on the surface of the ground and come to an end by sword and famine, and their carcasses will become food for the birds of the sky and for the beasts of the earth.”

Do I have any pleasure in the death of the wicked,” declares the Lord God, “rather than that he should turn from his ways and live?

Then he passed away, and lo, he was no more;
I sought for him, but he could not be found.

He will die for lack of instruction,
And in the greatness of his folly he will go astray.
