On the morning of the third day there were thunder and lightning flashes and a thick cloud upon the mountain. A very loud trumpet sounded. It caused all the people in the camp to tremble.

The people heard the thunder and the trumpet blast. They saw the lightning and the smoking mountain. They trembled with fear and stood at a distance. They said to Moses: If you speak to us, we will listen. However, we are afraid that if God speaks to us, we will die. Moses responded: Do not be afraid. God has only come to test you and to inspire you to obey him, so that you will not sin.

Fire blazed from the mountain, and you heard the voice coming from the darkness. Then your elders came to me. They said: 'Today Jehovah our God has shown us how powerful and glorious he is. He spoke to us from the fire. We learned that people could live, even though God speaks to them. We do not want to take a chance on being killed by that terrible fire. If we hear Jehovah's voice again we will die.

The Holy Spirit revealed that the way into the Most Holy Place was not open while the tent was still in use.

The Law is a shadow of the good things to come. It is not the actual things. The continual yearly sacrifices can never make those who worship perfect.

Christ came as the high priest of the good things that are now here. He also went into a much better tent that is not made by humans and does not belong to this creation. He went once and forever into the Most Holy Place having eternal salvation. It is not with the blood of goats and young bulls, but with his blood. Paul said to him: God will strike you, white washed wall! Do you sit judging me according to the Law, and against law command me to be struck?

Approach the Levitical priest or the judge who is in office in those days. Inquire of them and they will declare to you the verdict in the case. Act according to the terms of the verdict they declare to you from that place Jehovah chooses. Be careful to abide by all that they teach you. Act according to the verdict and the terms they tell you. Do not turn away from the word they declare to you.

The people went out and got them and made themselves tents. You must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with your entire mind and with all your strength.

Now, O Israel, what does Jehovah your God require from you? You are to respect Jehovah your God. Walk in all his ways and love him! Serve Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your being. Obey Jehovah's commandments and his statutes I am commanding you today for your good!

These words that I command you this day must be in your heart.

Take these words of mine to heart and keep them in mind. Write them down, tie them around your wrist, and wear them as headbands to remind you.

Carefully teach them to your sons. Talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way. Speak about them when you lie down, and when you rise up.

Teach them to your children! Talk about them in your home and away. Speak of them when you lie down or get up.

The Jews answered him: We have a law, and by that law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

As long as you live, you, your son, and your grandson must respect Jehovah your God. All of you must obey his laws and commandments I give you. Then you will live a long time.

The second like it is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'

Do not seek revenge. Never hold a grudge against any of your people. Instead, love your neighbor as you love yourself. I am Jehovah.

After they came out of Egypt they were in the valley east of the Jordan River he gave them the laws.

For this is required by the law of Israel. It is an ordinance of the God of Jacob. He established it for a testimony in Joseph (Israel) when he went throughout the land of Egypt. I heard a language that I did not understand. He said:

And what great nation is there that has statutes and judgments so righteous as the law I present to you this day?

Is the Law then against the promises of God? God forbid! If a law had been given which could impart life, righteousness would have been from the Law.

God did what the Law could not do, because human nature was weak. He sent his own son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering and do away with sin. So he condemned sin in sinful human nature. God did this so that the righteous requirements of the Law might be fully satisfied in us who live according to the Spirit, and not according to human nature.

He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel. This he commanded our fathers that they should teach them to their children,

These are the laws, rules, and instructions Jehovah gave to the Israelites through Moses on Mount Sinai.

They should be ready in three days. I will descend to Mount Sinai, where all of them can see me.

The law came through Moses. Loving-kindness and truth came through Jesus Christ.

After eight days the baby was circumcised. He was called by the name, Jesus. (Jesus: Jehovah is salvation) This was the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

Ezra came from Babylon. He was a scribe (copyist) and an expert in the Law of Moses which Jehovah, the God of Israel, had given. The king was moved by Jehovah his God to give him whatever he requested.

The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat, he said.

Moses commanded them: At the end of every seven years, at the time of the year of remission of debts, at the Feast of Booths, when all Israel comes to appear before Jehovah your God at the place he will choose, you shall read this Law in front of all Israel in their hearing. Assemble the people, the men and the women and children and the alien who is in your town. Assemble them that they may hear and learn and respect Jehovah your God, and be careful to observe all the words of this Law. read more.

I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up here in Jerusalem as a student of Gamaliel. I received instruction in the Law of our ancestors and was just as zealous for God as are all of you.

After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers. He was listening and asking them questions.

On Mount Sinai Jehovah gave Moses commands about these offerings. At the same time he commanded the Israelites to bring their offerings to him in the Sinai Desert.

For if the ministry of condemnation has glory then the ministry of righteousness would exceed in glory.

The ministry of death was written and engraved on stones. Glory came with it so that the children of Israel could not look steadfastly upon the face of Moses. And this glory was passing away.

Take this Book of the Law, and put it next to the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah your God, where it will be a witness against you.

These are the words Moses spoke to all Israel. He was on this side of the Jordan in the desert wilderness, in the plain near the Red Sea (Suph), between Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab. It is only an eleven-day journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh-barnea. It was the fortieth year, eleventh month, on the first day of the month. You have not come to a mountain that can be touched, to Mount Sinai with its blazing fire, the darkness and the gloom, the storm. The sight was so terrible (formidable) (fearful) that Moses said: I am full of fear and trembling. You have come to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads (thousands of thousands) of angels, to the general assembly and congregation of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just (righteous) (holy) men made perfect (mature) (having all needed qualities). You have come to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks in a better way than the blood of Abel.

Then I came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the Ark I had made. They are there just as Jehovah commanded me.

Moses wrote this Law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi who carried the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah, and to all the elders of Israel.

Do not think I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I came, not to destroy, but to fulfill (perfect) (execute) (accomplish). I solemnly tell you, heaven and earth would pass away before one small letter (detail) will pass away from the Law. All things must be accomplished.

Ezra the priest brought the law to the meeting of the people. They were all able to listen to it. It was the first day of the seventh month. He read it in the wide place in front of the Water Gate from early morning till the middle of the day. Everyone who could understand it, men and women alike were able to listen to it. All the people got to hear the Book of the Law.

Afterward he read all the words of the Law, the blessings and cursing, according to all that is written in the Book of the Law. There was not a word of all that Moses commanded that Joshua did not read before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them.

But Israel, pursuing after a law of righteousness, has not attained to that law. Why? It is because it was not based on the principle of faith, but on that of works. They have stumbled at the stumbling stone. It is written: Behold, I place in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence and he that believes on him will not be ashamed. (Isaiah 8:14)

Now this I say: the Law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise.

The Law was our schoolmaster (Greek: paedagogue: a combination of schoolmaster, instructor, servant and guardian in charge of us) to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

When the full time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

If the word spoken through angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward (penalty).

Brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ; that you should be joined to another, even to him who was raised from the dead, that we might bring forth fruit to God.

Why do you test God by placing a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, one that our fathers were not able to bear?

This crowd does not know the law. It is contemptible

This one was with our father in the congregation in the wilderness. The angel spoke to him on Mount Sinai. He received the living oracles to give to us.

When you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture: You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you do well.

You have received the law by the disposition of angels and have not obeyed it.

Some men came down from Judea to teach the brothers. They said: You cannot be saved unless you become circumcised according to the custom of Moses.
