Then he passed on and behold, he was not. And I sought him, but he could not be found.

For [it is] not an enemy [that] taunts me, or I could bear [it]. [It is not] one who hates me [that] magnifies himself over me, or I could hide myself from him.

when he turned their rivers to blood so they could not drink [from] their streams.

They wandered in the wilderness, in a desert. They could find no way to a city to inhabit.

If you, O Yah, should {keep track of} iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?

How could we sing the song of Yahweh in {a foreign land}?
