'Seeing' in the Bible
And seeing that he was not there, they went back to Jerusalem, to make search for him.
But Simon Peter, seeing it, fell at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, Lord.
And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Seeing their faith He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven you.”
or how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, allow me, I will cast out the mote that is in thine eye, thyself not seeing the beam that is in thine eye? Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine eye, and then thou shalt see clear to cast out the mote which is in the eye of thy brother.
And the Lord, seeing her, was moved with compassion for her, and said to her, Weep not;
And the Pharisee who had invited him, seeing it, spoke with himself saying, This person if he were a prophet would have known who and what the woman is who touches him, for she is a sinner.
And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
But seeing Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus Son of the Most High God? I beseech thee torment me not.
But they that fed them, seeing what had happened, fled, and told it to the city and to the country.
And the woman, seeing that she was not hid, came trembling, and falling down before him declared before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was immediately healed.
And Herod said, "John I have beheaded; but who is this, of whom I hear such reports?" And he sought for an opportunity of seeing Jesus.
And Jesus, seeing the reasoning of their heart, having taken a little child set it by him,
And his disciples James and John seeing it said, Lord, wilt thou that we speak that fire come down from heaven and consume them, as also Elias did?
And a certain priest happened to go down that way, and seeing him, passed on on the opposite side;
In like manner a Levite also came to the place, and seeing him passed by on the other side.
But a certain Samaritan journeying came to him, and seeing him, was moved with compassion,
seeing a friend of mine came out of the way unto me, and I have not what I shall set before him,
But the Pharisee seeing it wondered that he had not first washed before dinner.
And Jesus, seeing her, called to her, and said to her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
And the steward said within himself, What shall I do, seeing that my lord taketh away the stewardship from me? I have not strength to dig; to beg I am ashamed.
And seeing them he said to them, Go, shew yourselves to the priests. And it came to pass as they were going they were cleansed.
But one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned and, with a loud voice, gave glory to God.
Seeing that he became sad, Jesus said, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!
No sooner were the words spoken than the man regained his sight and followed Jesus, giving glory to God; and all the people, seeing it, gave praise to God.
Turning towards him, Jesus replied, "To-day salvation has come to this house, seeing that he too is a son of Abraham.
And as he drew near, seeing the city, he wept over it,
The lord of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. It may be that seeing him, they will respect him.'
And they who were around him, seeing what was going to follow, said to him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
And a servant-girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight and looking intently at him, said, “This man was with Him too.”
And after a short time another seeing him said, And thou art of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not.
And when Herod saw Jesus he greatly rejoiced, for he had been a long while desirous of seeing him, because of hearing many things concerning him, and he hoped to see some sign done by him;
But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
Now the centurion, seeing what took place, glorified God, saying, In very deed this man was just.
And all the crowds that had come together to this sight, after seeing all that had occurred, returned to the city beating their breasts.
And all His acquaintances and the women who accompanied Him from Galilee were standing at a distance, seeing these things.
But they were startled and terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost.
But Jesus having turned, and seeing them following, says to them, What seek ye? And they said to him, Rabbi (which, being interpreted, signifies Teacher), where abidest thou?
Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover feast, many believed in His name [identifying themselves with Him] after seeing His signs (attesting miracles) which He was doing.
Jesus seeing this man lying there, and knowing that he was in that state now a great length of time, says to him, Wouldest thou become well?
and there was following him a great multitude, because they were seeing his signs that he was doing on the ailing;
Jesus then, lifting up his eyes and seeing that a great crowd is coming to him, says to Philip, Whence shall we buy loaves that these may eat?
And Jesus, lifting himself up and seeing no one but the woman, said to her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? Has no one condemned thee?
Your father Abraham [greatly] rejoiced to see My day (My incarnation). He saw it and was delighted.”
And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
the neighbours, therefore, and those seeing him before, that he was blind, said, 'Is not this he who is sitting and begging?'
Accordingly they said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him, since He opened your eyes?” And he said, “[It must be that] He is a prophet!”
And Jesus said, 'For judgment I to this world did come, that those not seeing may see, and those seeing may become blind.'
The Jews therefore who were with her in the house and consoling her, seeing Mary that she rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, She goes to the tomb, that she may weep there.
Mary therefore, when she came where Jesus was, seeing him, fell at his feet, saying to him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
Seeing her weeping aloud, and the Jews in like manner weeping who had come with her, Jesus, curbing the strong emotion of His spirit,
So then, many of the Jews who had come to [be with] Mary and who were eyewitnesses to what Jesus had done, believed in Him.
“He has blinded their eyes and He hardened their heart, to keep them from seeing with their eyes and understanding with their heart and being converted; otherwise, I [their God] would heal them.”
Jesus therefore, seeing his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, says to his mother, Woman, behold thy son.
After this, Jesus, seeing that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I am thirsty."
Having said this He showed them His hands and also His side; and the disciples were filled with joy at seeing the Master.
Jesus said, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed. Those who believe without seeing are blessed.”
Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
But God raised Him up, releasing Him and bringing an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in death’s power.
He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
He has been exalted to the right hand of God, has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, and has caused you to experience what you are seeing and hearing.
Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
And Peter, seeing it, answered the people, Men of Israel, why are ye astonished at this? or why do ye gaze on us as if we had by our own power or piety made him to walk?
But seeing the boldness of Peter and John, and perceiving that they were unlettered and uninstructed men, they wondered; and they recognised them that they were with Jesus.
And seeing the man who was healed standing with them, they could not say anything against them.
When the rulers and Council members had threatened them further, they let them go, finding no way to punish them because [of their fear] of the people, for they were all praising and glorifying and honoring God for what had happened;
And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:
And Moses seeing it wondered at the vision; and as he went up to consider it, there was a voice of the Lord,
seeing I have seen the affliction of My people that is in Egypt, and their groaning I did hear, and came down to deliver them; and now come, I will send thee to Egypt.
And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
Even Simon believed [Philip’s message of salvation]; and after being baptized, he continued on with Philip, and as he watched the attesting signs and great miracles taking place, he was constantly amazed.
And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.
and he was three days without seeing, and he did neither eat nor drink.
But Peter, putting them all out, and kneeling down, prayed. And, turning to the body, he said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes, and, seeing Peter, sat up.
“Can anyone refuse water for these people to be baptized, since they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?”
who, having arrived and seeing the grace of God, rejoiced, and exhorted all with purpose of heart to abide with the Lord;
And seeing that it was pleasing to the Jews, he went on to take Peter also: (and they were the days of unleavened bread:)
So he went out and followed, and he did not know that what took place through the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision.
And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.
Then the proconsul, seeing what happened, believed and was astonished at the teaching about the Lord.
But the Jews, seeing the crowds, were filled with envy, and contradicted the things said by Paul, contradicting and speaking injuriously.
Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
and heard Paul speaking. After observing him closely and seeing that he had faith to be healed,
So he sprang up and began to walk about. Then the crowds, seeing what Paul had done, rent the air with their shouts in the Lycaonian language, saying, "The gods have assumed human form and have come down to us."
seeing we have heard that certain having gone forth from us did trouble you with words, subverting your souls, saying to be circumcised and to keep the law, to whom we did give no charge,
And her masters, seeing that the hope of their gains was gone, having seized Paul and Silas, dragged them into the market before the magistrates;
And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
Then Paul and Silas, having come out of the prison, went to Lydia's house; and, after seeing the brethren and encouraging them, they left Philippi.
But in Athens, while Paul was waiting for them, his spirit was painfully excited in him seeing the city given up to idolatry.
God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
seeing that He has appointed a day on which, before long, He will judge the world in righteousness, through the instrumentality of a man whom He has pre-destined to this work, and has made the fact certain to every one by raising Him from the dead."
Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.
When the seven days were almost over, the Jews from Asia, seeing Paul in the Temple, stirred up a large crowd. They grabbed Paul,
Taking along soldiers and centurions, he immediately ran down to them. Seeing the commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.
Then those who were about to put him to the test went away: and the chief captain was in fear, seeing that he was a Roman, and that he had put chains on him.
