"Have you never read," answered Jesus, "what David did when he and his followers were hungry?

"And why do you look at the splinter that is in your brother's eye, but never consider the beam that is in your own eye?

"You gave me no kiss; but she, since she came in, has never ceased tenderly kissing my feet;

"you never anointed my head with oil; but she has anointed my feet with my feet with perfume.

"Yet I must continue my journey today, tomorrow, and the day following; for it would never do for a prophet to perish outside of Jerusalem!

"Behold! Your house is left to you, desolate! I tell you that you shall never see me again until you say, Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord,"

"'All these years I have been slaving for you and never disobeyed a command of yours. Yet you never gave me even a kid so that I might make merry with my friends.

He also taught them by a parable how they ought always to pray and never to lose heart.

"I tell you in solemn truth that whoever will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child, he will never get into it."

"Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words shall never pass away.

"but weep for yourselves and for your children. For behold, the days are coming when they shall say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that have never bore children, and the breasts that never suckled.'
