Now after these things, God put Abraham to the test, and said to him, Abraham; and he said, Here am I.

And so you will be able to put my honour to the test in time to come; if you see among my flocks any goats which are not marked or coloured, or any sheep which is not black, you may take me for a thief.

So here's how we'll test you. You can bet the life of Pharaoh that you're not leaving here until your youngest brother comes here!

One of you is to be sent back so he can get your brother while the rest of you remain in custody. That way, we'll test whether or not you're telling the truth. If you're not, as surely as the Pharaoh lives, you're spies!"

These are the nations the Lord left in order to test Israel, since the Israelites had fought none of these in any of the wars with Canaan.

The Lord left them to test Israel, to determine if they would keep the Lord’s commands He had given their fathers through Moses.
