They gathered together to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said there, "We have sinned against the LORD." Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah.

As they went up the ascent to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said to them, "Is the seer here?"

Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my meat that I have killed for my shearers, and give it to men who I do not know where they come from?"

They found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he ate; and they gave him water to drink.
