But you, by your union with Christ Jesus, belong to God; and Christ, by God's will, became not only our Wisdom, but also our Righteousness, Holiness, and Deliverance,

For I had made the decision to have knowledge of nothing among you but only of Jesus Christ on the cross.

We do discuss 'wisdom' with those who are mature; only it is not the wisdom of this world or of the dethroned Powers who rule this world,

For, among human beings, who knows a man's inner thoughts except the man's own spirit within him? In the same way, also, only God's Spirit is acquainted with God's inner thoughts.

For the natural man is not able to take in the things of the Spirit of God: for they seem foolish to him, and he is not able to have knowledge of them, because such knowledge comes only through the Spirit.

But I, Brothers, could not speak to you as men with spiritual insight, but only as worldly-minded-mere infants in the Faith of Christ.

What is Paul? What thing is Apollos? Only ministers are they, by whom ye believed: even as the Lord gave every man grace.

So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.

If someone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss. He himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

Now, brothers, for your benefit I have applied all this only to Apollos and myself, by using us as illustrations to teach you the old lesson, "Never go beyond the letter," and to keep any of you from boasting of one teacher at the expense of another.

But I am coming, and coming soon, if the Lord is willing, and then I will find out, not only what those conceited fellows say but what they can do,

Know ye not that we shall judge messengers? also not only things pertaining to the cares of life?

Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power.

Do not keep back from one another what is right, but only for a short time, and by agreement, so that you may give yourselves to prayer, and come together again; so that Satan may not get the better of you through your loss of self-control.

But in this I speak my opinion only, not authoritatively.

Only, as the Lord has given to a man, and as is the purpose of God for him, so let him go on living. And these are my orders for all the churches.

Circumcision is nothing, and its opposite is nothing, but only doing the orders of God is of value.

I am saying this in your own interests. Not that I want to restrict your freedom. It is only to secure decorum and concentration upon a life of devotion to the Lord.

It is right for a wife to be with her husband as long as he is living; but when her husband is dead, she is free to be married to another; but only to a Christian.

I now want to reply to the matter of idolatrous sacrifices [which you wrote to me about]. We know that we all possess knowledge. [Note: This may be a statement posed to Paul by the Corinthians, who seemed quite preoccupied with "knowledge"]. Knowledge [only] makes people arrogant, while love builds them up [spiritually].

Now concerning [the matter of] eating foods [once] offered as sacrifices to idols, we know that an idol is [really] nothing in the world [at all], and that there is only one God.

There is for us only one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we are for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we have our being through him.

Only be careful that this liberty of yours [this power to choose] does not somehow become a stumbling block [that is, a temptation to sin] to the weak [in conscience].

Or I only and Barnabas, have we no right to take a rest from work?

is this only the voice of reason? does not the law express the same too?

For in the law of Moses it is written, "You must not muzzle an ox that is treading out your grain." Is it that God is concerned about oxen only?

If others share this right over you, why not we all the more? We did not avail ourselves of it, you say? No, we do not mind any privations if we can only avoid putting any obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ.

Only, I have not availed myself of any of these rights, and I am not writing in order to secure any such provision for myself. I would die sooner than let anyone deprive me of this, my source of pride.

Do you not see that in a running competition all take part, but only one gets the reward? So let your minds be fixed on the reward.

Any man who enters an athletic contest practices rigid self-control in training, only to win a wreath that withers, but we are in to win a wreath that never withers.

So I do not run uncertainly or box like one who hits only air.

Nor must we presume upon the Lord as some of them did ??only to be destroyed by serpents.

And you must not murmur, as some of them did ??only to be destroyed by the destroying angel.

Because there is only one loaf, so we, though many, are only one body, for we all partake of one loaf.

Let a man give attention not only to what is good for himself, but equally to his neighbour's good.

[And] does not the very nature of things teach you that it is disgraceful for a man to have long hair? [Note: The prevailing, worldwide custom, observable to Paul even in his day, was shorter hair on men and longer hair on women. The fact of exceptions to this arrangement only proves the rule. See Num. 6:5; I Sam. 1:11].

Indeed, there must be actual parties among you, for so only will the men of real worth become known.

A man, then, must examine himself, and only in this way should he eat any of the bread and drink from the cup.

If we only judged our own lives truly, we would not come under the Lord's judgment.

and if anyone is hungry let him eat at home. You must not gather, only to incur condemnation. I will give you my instructions upon the other matters when I come.

For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts, though many, form [only] one body, so it is with Christ.

For the human body is not made up of [only] one part, but of many parts.

If, however, they all made up only one part, where would the body be?

But now indeed many are the members, yet only one body.

If I could speak the languages of men, of angels too, and have no love, I am only a rattling pan or a clashing cymbal.

It is not happy over injustice, it is only happy with truth.

For our knowledge is only in part, and the prophet's word gives only a part of what is true:

but when that which is complete comes [i.e., the full revelation of God's will, contained in the New Testament Scriptures], then the partial will be abolished [i.e., the supernatural gifts, which provided only part of the revealed will of God, will cease to be exercised].

For now [i.e., during the church's infant state] we see in a mirror [Note: God's word is elsewhere likened to a mirror. See James 1:22-25] indistinctly [i.e., because of having only partial knowledge and prophecy], but then [i.e., when the church matures and has the completed Scriptures], we will see face to face [i.e., clearly]. Now I have [only] partial knowledge, but then I will have full knowledge, just as [God has] full knowledge of me.

The person who speaks in a language [supernaturally], builds up [only] himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.

So also unless ye utter by the tongue intelligible words, how shall what is spoken be understood? for thus ye will be only talking to the wind.

What is my conclusion then? I will certainly pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind in action too. I will certainly sing with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind in action too. For if you give thanks with your spirit only,

Otherwise if you bless in the spirit only, how will the one who fills the place of the ungifted say the “Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not know what you are saying?

If any person speaks in another language, there should be only two, or at the most three, each in turn, and someone must interpret.

But if there is no interpreter present [at the meeting], the person [i.e., with the ability to speak a language supernaturally] should remain quiet in the assembly. [Note: This implies that the speaker would know before he begins speaking whether or not an interpreter is present]. [In that case], he should speak [only] to himself and to God. [See verse 2].

And [only] two or three prophets should speak [in one meeting], and [then] other people should determine the significance [of their messages].

Did the word of God originate from you, or did it come to you only?

only let everything be done in a becoming and orderly manner.

If we have put our hope in Christ for this life only, we should be pitied more than anyone.

If I fought wild animals in Ephesus with only human hope, what good did that do me? If the dead are not raised, Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.

And as for what you sow—you are not sowing the future body, but only a seed, perhaps of wheat or another grain.

It is the same way with the resurrection of dead people. [A person's body] is buried [only] to decay; it is raised up never to decay again.

but the animate, not the spiritual, comes first, and only then the spiritual.

I will visit you after I go through Macedonia, for I am only passing through Macedonia;

But I do not plan to see you yet, as I will [only] be passing through. For I am hoping to stay with you for some time [i.e., in the future], if the Lord permits.
