Now he was not self-moved in saying this, but as high priest for that year he was inspired to say that Jesus was to die for the nation??52 and not only for the nation but also for the purpose of uniting the scattered children of God.
These facts, then, being unquestioned, it becomes you to maintain your self-control and not act recklessly.

But the heart of [over-confident] fools proclaims foolishness.

But the foolishness of [shortsighted] fools is deceit.
While as to Israel he says, "All day long I have stretched out My arms to a self-willed and fault-finding people."
For this time I will send all my plagues on your very self and on your servants and your people, so that you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth.
And you, instead of mourning and removing from among you the man who has done this deed of shame, are filled with self-complacency!
But if Christ is in you, though your bodily self is dead because of sin, your spirit is full of life because of righteousness.

Rather than the [angry, narcissistic] fool in his folly.
Why is there money in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom,
When he has no common sense or even a heart for it?
He who becomes the parent of a fool [who is spiritually blind] does so to his sorrow,
And the father of a fool [who is spiritually blind] has no joy.
[Skillful and godly] wisdom is in the presence of a person of understanding [and he recognizes it],
But the eyes of a [thickheaded] fool are on the ends of the earth.

And bitterness to her who gave birth to him.
A [closed-minded] fool does not delight in understanding,
But only in revealing his personal opinions [unwittingly displaying his self-indulgence and his stupidity].
