Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, "It was meet that the word of God should first have been preached to you. But seeing ye put it from you, and think yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the gentiles.
But the Jews moved the worshipful and honorable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas: and expelled them out of their coasts.
But the unbelieving Jews stirred up and unquieted the minds of the gentiles against the brethren.
But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul heard that, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying
And he put no difference between them and us, but with faith purified their hearts.
But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, as they do."
but that we write unto them, that they abstain themselves from filthiness of images, from fornication, from strangled, and from blood.
But after a certain space, Paul said unto Barnabas, "Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have showed the word of the Lord, and see how they do."
But Paul thought it not meet to take him unto their company which departed from them at Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
Then came he to Derbe and to Lystra. And behold, a certain disciple was there named Timothy, a woman's son which was a Jewess and believed: but his father was a Greek.
they came to Mysia, and sought to go into Bithynia, but the spirit suffered them not.
And this did she many days. But Paul, not content, turned about and said to the spirit, "I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ that thou come out of her." And he came out the same hour.
But Paul cried with a loud voice saying, "Do thyself no harm, for we are all here."
Then said Paul unto them, "They have beaten us, openly un-condemned, for all that we are Romans, and have cast us into prison: and now would they send us away privily? Nay not so, but let them come themselves and fetch us out."
But the Jews which believed not, having indignation, took unto them evil men which were vagabonds, and gathered a company, and set all the city on a roar, and made assault unto the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.
But when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the heads of the city crying, "These that trouble the world are come hither also,
and then, by and by, the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea. But Silas and Timothy abode there still.
For all the Athenians and strangers which were there gave themselves to nothing else, but either to tell or to hear new tidings.
And the time of this ignorance God regarded not: but now he biddeth all men everywhere to repent,
Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, "Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
but if it be a question of words, or of names, or of your law, look ye to it yourselves. For I will be no judge in such matters."
And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the Synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
but bade them fare well saying, "I must needs, at this feast that cometh, be in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you if God will."
The same was informed in the way of the Lord, and he spake fervently in the spirit, and taught diligently the things of the Lord, and knew but the baptism of John only.
When divers waxed hard hearted, and believed not, but spake evil of the way of the Lord, and that before the multitude: he departed from them; And separated the disciples away; And disputed daily in the school of one called Tyrannus.
and the evil spirit answered and said, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know: but who are ye?"
So sent he into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him: Timothy and Erastus: but he himself remained in Asia for a season.
Moreover, ye see and hear that not alone at Ephesus: but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be not gods which are made with hands:
so that not only this our craft cometh into peril to be set at nought: but that also the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised. And her magnificence should be destroyed, which all Asia, and the world worshippeth."
and how I kept back nothing that was profitable: but that I have showed you, and taught you openly and at home in your houses,
but that the holy ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and trouble abide me.
But none of those things move me. Neither is my life dear unto myself; that I might fulfill my course with joy, and the ministration which I have received of the Lord Jesus to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
For I have kept nothing back: but have showed you all the counsel of God.
Then Paul answered, and said, "What do ye weeping, and breaking mine heart? I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."
Them take and purify thyself with them, and do cost on them, that they may shave their heads and all shall know that those things which they have heard concerning thee are nothing: but that thou thyself also walkest and keepest the law.
For as touching the gentiles which believe: we have written, and concluded, that they observe no such things - but that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, from blood, from strangled, and from fornication."
But Paul said, "I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no vile city, I beseech thee suffer me to speak unto the people."
And they that were with me saw verily a light and were afraid: but they heard not the voice of him that spake with me.
For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit. But the Pharisees grant both.
Now therefore give ye knowledge to the upper captain, and to the council that he bring him forth unto us tomorrow, as though we would know some thing more perfectly of him. But we, or ever he come near, are ready in the mean season to kill him."
But follow not their minds: for there lie in wait for him of them, more than forty men, which have bound themselves with a vow, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him. And now are they ready, and look for thy promise."
There perceived I that he was accused of questions of their law: but was not guilty of any thing worthy of death, or of bonds.
but the high captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,
because that thou mayest know that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to pray.
But this I confess unto thee, that after that way, which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and the prophets,

But after two years came Festus Porcius into Felix's room: and Felix, willing to show the Jews a pleasure, left Paul in prison bound.
Festus answered that Paul should be kept at Caesarea: but that he himself would shortly depart thither.
But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus which was dead; whom Paul affirmed to be alive.
But rise and stand up on thy feet. For I have appeared unto thee for this purpose: to make thee a minister, and a witness both of those things which thou hast seen, and of those things in thee which I will appear unto thee,

And Paul said, "I am not mad, most dear Festus: but speak the words of truth and soberness.
And Paul said, "I would to God that not only thou: but also all that hear me today, were not somewhat only, but altogether such as I am; except these bonds. I might persuade not thee only, but all them that hear me this day, to be such as I am, these bonds except."
and said unto them, "Sirs I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not of the lading and ship only: but also of our lives."
But anon after there arose, against their purpose, a flaw of wind out of the northeast.
But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were carried in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that there appeared some country unto them,
When it was day they knew not the land, but they spied a certain haven with a bank, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.
But they chanced on a place, which had the sea on both the sides, and thrust in the ship. And the fore part stuck fast, and moved not, but the hinder part brake with the violence of the waves.
But the under-captain, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose, and commanded that they that could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and escape to land.
But he shook off the vermin into the fire, and felt no harm.
Howbeit, they waited when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly. But after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.
And when he came to Rome, the under-captain delivered the prisoners to the chief captain of the host: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with one Soldier that kept him.
But when the Jews cried contrary, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar. Not because I had ought to accuse my people of.
But we will hear of thee what thou thinkest. For we have heard of this sect, that everywhere it is spoken against."
I would that ye should know, brethren, how that I have oftentimes purposed to come unto you, but have been let hitherto, to have some fruit among you, as I have among other of the gentiles.
inasmuch as when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful: but waxed full of vanities in their imaginations. And their foolish hearts were blinded.
Which men, though they knew the righteousness of God, how that they which such things commit are worthy of death: yet not only do the same, but also have pleasure in them that do them.
But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth, against them which commit such things.
But thou, after thine hard heart that cannot repent, heapest thee together the treasure of wrath against the day of vengeance: when shall be opened the righteous judgment of God,
But unto them that are rebellious, and disobey the truth, and follow iniquity, shall come indignation and wrath,
But whosoever hath sinned without law, shall perish without law. And as many as have sinned under the law, shall be judged by the law.
For before God they are not righteous which hear the law: but the doers of the law shall be justified.
But thou which teachest another, teachest not thyself. Thou preachest, a man should not steal: and yet thou stealest.
Circumcision verily availeth if thou keep the law: But if thou break the law thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
But he is a Jew which is hid within, and the circumcision of the heart is the true circumcision, which is in the spirit, and not in the letter: whose praise is not of men but of God.
but are justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus
Where is then thy rejoicing? It is excluded. By what law? By the law of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Do we then destroy the law through faith? God forbid. But we, rather, maintain the law.
If Abraham were justified by deeds, then hath he wherein to rejoice: but not with God.
To him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of favour: but of duty.
To him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, is his faith counted for righteousness.
How was it reckoned? In the time of circumcision? Or in the time before he was circumcised? Not in time of circumcision: but when he was yet uncircumcised.
And that he might be the father of the circumcised: not because they are circumcised only: but because they walk also in the steps of that faith, that was in our father Abraham before the time of circumcision.
For the promise that he should be heir of the world was not given to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law: but through the righteousness which cometh of faith.
For if they which are of the law be heirs, then is faith but vain, and the promise of none effect.
Therefore by faith is the inheritance given, that it might come of favour: and that the promise might be sure to all the seed. Not to them only which are of the law: but also to them which are of the faith of Abraham, which is the father of us all.
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief: But was made strong in the faith, and gave honour to God,
but also for us, to whom it shall be counted for righteousness so we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from death.
Neither do we so, only: but also we rejoice in tribulation: For we know that tribulation bringeth patience,
But God setteth out his love that he hath to us; Seeing that while we were yet sinners; Christ died for us.
Not only so, but we also joy in God by the means of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have received the atonement.
For even unto the time of the law was sin in the world: but sin was not regarded, as long as there was no law:
But the gift is not like as the sin. For if, through the sin of one, many be dead: much more plenteous, upon many, was the grace of God and gift by grace: which grace was given by one man, Jesus Christ.
And the gift is not over one sin, as death came through one sin of one that sinned. For damnation came of one sin unto condemnation: But the gift came to justify from many sins.
But the law, in the meantime, entered in that sin should increase. Neverthelater, where abundance of sin was, there was more plenteousness of grace.
Likewise, imagine ye also, that ye are dead concerning sin: but are alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Neither give ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: But give yourselves unto God, as they that are alive from death. And give your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Let not sin have power over you. For ye are not under the law, but under grace.
