and because of this [human weakness] he is required to offer sacrifices for sins, for himself as well as for the people.
And though he were God's son, yet learned he obedience, by those things which he suffered,
And having been fully perfected, he became the source of eternal salvation to all those who obey him,
For also ye ought to be teachers for the time, again ye have need for some one to teach you the elements of the beginning of the sayings of God; and have become those having need of milk, and not of firm food.
By people who live on milk I mean those who are imperfectly acquainted with the teaching concerning righteousness.
But solid food is for mature men, those having their sensibilities trained through practice for the discernment of both good and evil.
Therefore omitting for the present the principles of the christian doctrine, we shall proceed to something more sublime, without mentioning those fundamental articles of repentance from destructive vices, and of divine faith:
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and who tasted of the heavenly gift, and who became partakers of Holy Spirit,
if those, I say, fell away, it would be impossible to bring them again to repentance; they would be crucifying the Son of God over again for themselves, and exposing him to open contempt.
For the soil that has drunk the rain often coming upon it, and bringing forth vegetation useful for those by whom also it is cultivated, partakes of a blessing from God.
so that ye may not become lazy, but imitators of those who, through faith and longsuffering, inherit the promises.
So that when it was God's desire to make it specially clear to those who by his word were to have the heritage, that his purpose was fixed, he made it more certain with an oath;

And of course those who have become priests are more, because of being prevented to continue by death,
Whereupon he is able also to save to the uttermost those who come to God through him, being always alive in order to intercede on their behalf.
Who has no need to offer up sacrifices each day, as those high priests, first for his own sins, then for those of the people, for this he did, once, when he offered up himself.
Now the principal thing among those of which we are speaking is this: We have such a highpriest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
However, if He were still on earth, He would not be a priest at all, because there are those who officiate in accordance with the law in offering the gifts;
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel After those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, And on their heart also will I write them: And I will be to them a God, And they shall be to me a people:
but into the second once in every year entered the high-priest alone, not without blood, which he offered for his own inadvertencies, and for those of the people:
For if the blood of bulls and goats, and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling those who were defiled, sanctifies for the purification of the flesh,
And because of this he is mediator of a new covenant, so that a death having occurred for the redemption of the transgressions against the first covenant, those who are called might take the promise of the eternal inheritance.
For a will [is] in force concerning those who are dead, since [it is] never in force when the one who made the will is alive.
It is then need that the similitudes of heavenly things, be purified with such things: but the heavenly things themselves are purified with better sacrifices than are those.
so also the Christ, having been offered once in order to take up the sins of many, will appear a second time, independent of sin, to those waiting for him for salvation.
For the law having a shadow of the good things that are coming, not the same substance of the events, with the same sacrifices that are offered continually each year, they are never able to fully perfect those who are approaching.
Otherwise would they not have ceased being offered, because of those who worship, once having been cleansed, to have no further conscience of sins?
But in those'sacrifices there is a remembrance made of sins year by year.
Previously saying, "Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you did not desire, neither had pleasure in them" (those which are offered according to the Law),
For by one offering he has fully perfected forever those being sanctified.
This is the covenant that I will make with them After those days, saith the Lord: I will put my laws on their heart, And upon their mind also will I write them; then saith he,
but a kind of awful and terrifying expectation of [divine] judgment and the fury of a fire and burning wrath which will consume the adversaries [those who put themselves in opposition to God].
How much worse then, think you, will be the punishment deserved by those who have trampled underfoot the Son of God, who have treated the blood that rendered the Covenant valid--the very blood by which they were purified--as of no account, and who have outraged the Spirit of Love?
But you must continue to remember those earlier days when first you received the light and then endured so great a struggle with persecution,
Partly made a spectacle, both by reviling and afflictions, and partly having become companions of those so treated.
For you showed sympathy with those who were in prison and cheerfully submitted to the violent seizure of your property, for you knew that you had in yourselves and in heaven one that was lasting.
But we are not of those who go back to destruction; but of those who have faith even to the salvation of the soul.
And apart from faith it is impossible to please him. For he who comes to God must believe that he is, and becomes a rewarder of those who search for him.

Keep all the laws of men because of the Lord; those of the king, who is over all,
And those of the rulers who are sent by him for the punishment of evil-doers and for the praise of those who do well.
and to encourage those who do well. for such is the divine pleasure, that by your good conduct you obviate the cavils of inconsiderate
As those who are free, not using your free position as a cover for wrongdoing, but living as the servants of God;
You house-servants must be submissive to your masters and show them perfect respect, not only to those who are kind and fair but also to those who are cruel.
For those of you who put up with such suffering unjustly, because of your close relationship to God, are to be commended.
"He himself bore our sins" in his body on the tree, so that we might die to those sins and live righteously. "By his wounds you have been healed."
