And when they arrest you [and] hand you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you should say, but whatever is given to you at that hour, say this. For you are not the ones who are speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

"But when you see the abomination of desolation standing where it should not be" (let the one who reads understand), "then those in Judea must flee to the mountains!

Also the person who is on a housetop [Note: This was a flat area where people retired for rest, prayer, etc., with its stairway on the outside] should not go down into his house to take anything out [when he flees].

The person who is in a field [i.e., doing farm work] should not return [to his house] to get his coat [even].

For those days shall be pressure, such as there has not been from beginning of creation which God created till now, and should not be.

and if the Lord had not cut short those days, no flesh should have been saved; but on account of the elect whom he has chosen, he has cut short those days.

"And at that time if anyone should say to you, "Behold, here [is] the Christ,' 'Behold, there [he is],' do not believe [him]!

In the same way also, when you see these things happening, you [should] know that He [i.e., Jesus] is as near as your [front] door.

Truly I say to you, that this generation should not pass away, till all these things should be.

"You should pay attention; be alert and pray, for you do not know when the time will come [i.e., for the Lord to return].

It is like a man away on a journey, who left his house and gave his slaves authority--to each one his work--and to the doorkeeper he gave orders that he should be on the alert.

So you must be on the watch, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming??n the evening or at midnight or toward daybreak or early in the morning??36 for fear he should come unexpectedly and find you asleep.

lest if he come suddenly, he should find you sleeping.

But they said, Not on the feast-day, lest there should be an uproar of the people.

And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the Passover, his disciples say to him, Where do thou want, after going, we should prepare that thou may eat the Passover?

And wherever he should enter in, say to the lord of the house, That the Teacher says, Where is the room where I might eat the pascha with my disciples?

But Peter said to him, Even if all should be offended, yet not I.

But he said so much exceedingly the more, If I should have to die with thee, I will in no wise deny thee. And likewise said they all too.

Watch ye and pray, that ye should not come into temptation. Truly the spirit well inclined, and the flesh weak.

And returning, he found them again sleeping, for their eyes were heavy; and they knew not what they should answer him.

I was daily with you in the temple, teaching, and ye took me not: but that the scriptures should be fulfilled."

But he began to invoke a curse [on himself] and to swear [an oath], “I do not know this man you are talking about!”

But the high priests had moved the people that he should, rather, deliver Barabbas unto them.

Pilate again asked them, "What then should I do to him whom you call the King of the Jews?"

And Pilate said to them, "Why [should we]; what wrong has he done?" But they shouted out even louder, "Crucify him."

And Pilate, being minded to do what would satisfy, the multitude, released unto them Barabbas, and delivered up Jesus, having scourged him, that he should be crucified.

And they crucified him and divided his clothes among themselves [by] casting lots for them [to see] who should take what.

Pilate surpriz'd that he should be dead so soon, sent for the Centurion, and ask'd him, if he had been dead any time.

they shall take up serpents; and if they should drink any deadly thing it shall not injure them; they shall lay hands upon the infirm, and they shall be well.
