The statement found approval with the whole
rescuing him from all his troubles and allowing him to find favour for his wisdom with Pharaoh king of Egypt, who appointed him viceroy over Egypt and over all his own household.

When they had tied him up with thongs, Paul asked the centurion who stood by, "Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman, and not found guilty?"

The next day, since he wanted to find out exactly why Paul was being accused by the Jews, he released him

And, being minded to find out the cause for which they were accusing him, I took him down into their High-council,
whom I found to be accused about questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds.
And the governor having read it, and having questioned from what province he was, and having found out that he was from Cilicia,
For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
[When] you yourself examine [him] you will be able to find out from {him} about all these [things] of which we are accusing him."
When the governor nodded for him to speak, Paul answered,
“Knowing that for many years you have been a judge over this nation, I make my defense cheerfully and with good courage.
And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:
Now, after many years, intending to do, alms, unto my nation, I arrived, - also to present offerings; among which they found me, purified in the temple, not with a multitude, nor with tumult;
Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult.
Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,
Now as he spoke about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come,
So, he said, "Let your leaders go down with me and if there is anything [found] wrong with the man, let them bring their charges against him [at that time]."
But I found that there were certain questions in dispute between them about their own religion, and about some dead man called Jesus, whom Paul declared to be alive.
But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.
