I will continue to rescue you from the Jewish people and from the heathen to whom I am going to send you,

Even now I beg you to keep up your courage, for there will be no loss of life, but only of the ship.

So keep up your courage, men, for I have confidence in my God that it will all come out just as I was told.

So I beg you to eat something, for it is necessary for your safety. For not a hair will be lost from the head of a single one of you."

When the natives saw the reptile hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "Beyond a doubt this man is a murderer, for though he has been rescued from the sea, justice will not let him live."

'Go to this people and say to them, "You will listen, and listen, and never understand, and you will look, and look, and never see!

"So you must understand that this message of God's salvation has been sent to the heathen; and they will listen to it!"

always entreating God that somehow by His will I may some day at last succeed in getting to see you.

because they overflow with every sort of evil-doing, wickedness, greed, and malice; they are full of envy, murder, quarreling, deceit, ill-will;

But in your stubbornness and impenitence of heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath, when the justice of God's judgments will be uncovered.

For when He finally judges, He will pay everyone with exactness for what he has done,

But glory, honor, and peace will come to everyone who practices doing good, the Jew first and then the Greek;

All who sin without having the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.

For merely hearing the law read does not make men upright with God, but men who practice the law will be recognized as upright.

for they show that the deeds the law demands are written on their hearts, because their consciences will testify for them, and their inner thoughts will either accuse or defend them,

on the day when God through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the good news I preach, will judge the secrets people have kept.

and understand His will, and by being instructed in the law can know the things that excel,

So if the uncircumcised heathen man observes the just demands of the law, will he not be counted as though he were a Jew?

since there is but one God, who will consider the Jews in right standing with Himself, only on condition of their faith, and the heathen peoples on the same condition.

Now a man will scarcely ever give his life for an upright person, though once in a while a man is brave enough to die for a generous friend.

For if by one man's offense death reigned through that one, to a much greater degree will those who continue to receive the overflow of His unmerited favor and His gift of right standing with Himself, reign in real life through One, Jesus Christ.

for we know that Christ, who once was raised from the dead, will never die again; death has no more power over Him.

So if she marries another man while her husband is living, she is called an adulteress, but if he dies, she is free from that marriage bond, so that she will not be an adulteress though later married to another man.

For I know that nothing good has its home in me; that is, in my lower self; I have the will but not the power to do what is right.

If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead has His home within you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give your mortal bodies life through His Spirit that has His home within you.

for if you live by such a standard, you are going to die, but if by the Spirit you put a stop to the doings of your lower nature, you will live.

and He who searches our hearts knows what the Spirit thinks, for He pleads for His people in accordance with God's will.

Since He did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not with Him graciously give us everything else?

nor evil forces above or beneath, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God as shown in Christ Jesus our Lord.

nor are they all children of Abraham, because they are his descendants, but the promise was "In the line of Isaac your descendants will I be counted."

For this is the language of the promise, "About this time next year I will come back, and Sarah will have a son."

she was told, "The elder will be a slave to the younger."

For He says to Moses, "I will have mercy on any man that I choose to have mercy on, and take pity on any man that I choose to take pity on."

So you will ask me, "Why does He still find fault? For who can resist His will?"

Just as He says in Hosea: "I will call a people that was not mine, my people, and her who was not beloved, my beloved,

And Isaiah cries out about Israel, "Although the sons of Israel are as numberless as the sands of the sea, only a remnant of them will be saved,

for the Lord will completely and quickly execute His sentence on the earth."

as the Scripture says: "See, I put on Zion a stone for causing people to stumble, a rock to trip them on, but no one who puts his faith in it will ever be put to shame."

Brothers, my heart's good will goes out for them, and my prayer to God is that they may be saved.

For Moses says of the law-way to right standing with God that whoever can perform the law will live by it.

But here is what the faith-way to right standing says, "Do not say to yourself, 'Who will go up to heaven?'" that is, to bring Christ down;

or "'Who will go down into the depths?'" that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.

For if with your lips you acknowledge the fact that Jesus is Lord, and in your hearts you believe that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

For the Scripture says, "No one who puts his faith in Him will ever be put to shame."

For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.

But again I ask, Israel did not understand, did they? For in the first place Moses says: "I will make you jealous of a nation that is no nation; I will provoke you to anger at a senseless nation."

But if their stumbling has resulted in the enrichment of the world, and their overthrow becomes the enrichment of heathen peoples, how much richer the result will be when the full quota of Jews comes in!

For if the rejection of them has resulted in the reconciling of the world, what will the result be of the final reception of them but life from the dead?

If some of the branches have been broken off, and yet you, although you were wild olive suckers, have been grafted in among the native branches, and been made to share the rich sap of the native olive's root,

Then you will say, "Branches have been broken off for us to be grafted in."

for if God did not spare the natural branches, certainly He will not spare you.

So take a look at the goodness and the severity of God; severity to those who have fallen, but goodness to you, on condition that you continue to live by His goodness; otherwise, you too will be pruned away.

And they too, if they do not continue to live by their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is amply able to graft them in.

For if you were cut off from an olive wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted on to a fine olive stock, how much easier will it be for the natural branches to be grafted on to their own olive stock?

and so in that way all Israel will be saved, just as the Scripture says: "From Zion the Deliverer will come; He will remove ungodliness from Jacob;

Stop living in accordance with the customs of this world, but by the new ideals that mold your minds continue to transform yourselves, so as to find and follow God's will; that is, what is good, well-pleasing to Him, and perfect.

Stop taking revenge on one another, beloved, but leave a place for God's anger, for the Scripture says, "Vengeance belongs to me; I will pay them back, says the Lord."

Do the opposite. If your enemy is hungry, give him something to eat. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink, for if you act in this way, you will heap burning coals upon his head!

so that anyone who resists the authorities sets himself against what God has established, and those who set themselves against Him will get the penalty due them.

For civil authorities are not a terror to the man who does right, but they are to the man who does wrong. Do you want to have no dread of the civil authorities? Then practice doing right and you will be commended for it.

Who are you to criticize another man's servant? It is his own master's business whether he stands or falls, and he will stand, for the Lord has power to make him stand.

and for the heathen peoples to praise God for His mercy, as the Scripture says: "For this I will give thanks to you among the heathen, and will sing praises to your name."

And again Isaiah says: "The noted Son of Jesse will come, even He who rises to rule the heathen; on Him the heathen will set their hope."

but, as the Scripture says: "They will see who were never told of Him, and they will understand who have not heard."

so that, if it is God's will, I may come with a happy heart to see you and have a refreshing rest while with you.

Now the peace-giving God will soon crush Satan under your feet. The spiritual blessing of our Lord Jesus be with you.

Paul, by the will of God called as an apostle of Jesus Christ, and our brother Sosthenes,

and to the very end He will guarantee that you are vindicated at the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For the Scripture says: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the learning of the learned."

The planter and the waterer are one in aim, and yet each of us will get his own pay in accordance with his own work,

the character of each one's work will come to light, for the judgment day will show it up. This is so, because that day will show itself in fire, and the fire will test the character of each one's work.

If the structure which one builds upon it stands the test, he will get his pay.

If the structure which one builds is burned up, he will get no pay; and yet he himself will be saved, but just as one who goes through a fire.

If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is sacred to Him, and you are that temple.

So you must stop forming any premature judgments, but wait until the Lord shall come again, for He will bring to light the secrets hidden in the dark and will make known the motives of men's hearts, and the proper praise will be awarded each of us.

This is why I have sent Timothy to you. He is a dear child of mine and trustworthy in the Lord's work; he will call to your minds my methods in the work of Christ Jesus, just as I teach them everywhere in every church.

But I am coming, and coming soon, if the Lord is willing, and then I will find out, not only what those conceited fellows say but what they can do,

Your ground for boasting about such a case is not good. Are you not aware that a little yeast will change the whole lump of dough?

Do you not know that wrongdoers will not have a share in the kingdom of God? Stop being misled; people who are sexually immoral or idolaters or adulterers or sensual or guilty of unnatural sexual vice

or thieves or greedy graspers for more or drunkards or slanderers or swindlers will not have a share in the kingdom of God.

Everything is permissible for me, but not everything is good for me. Everything is permissible for me, but I will not become a slave to anything.

Foods are intended for the stomach, and the stomach for foods, but God will finally put a stop to both of them. The body is not intended for sexual immorality but for the service of the Lord, and the Lord is for the body to serve.

And as God by His power raised the Lord to life, so He will raise us too.

For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

About unmarried women I have no command from the Lord, but I will give you my opinion as of one who is trustworthy, since I have had mercy shown me by the Lord.

But if you do get married, you have not sinned in doing so. And if a girl gets married, she has not sinned in doing so. But those who do will have trouble in their earthly life, and I am trying to spare you this.

But the father who stands firm in his purpose, without having any necessity for doing so, and he has made the decision in his own heart to keep her single, will do what is right.

But in my opinion she will be happier, if she remains as she is, and I think too that I have God's Spirit.

Food will never bring us near to God. We are no worse if we do not eat it; we are no better if we do.

For if somebody sees you, who have an intelligent view of this matter, partaking of a meal in an idol's temple, will he not be emboldened, with his overscrupulous conscience, to eat the food which has been sacrificed to an idol?

So then, if food can make my brother fall, I will never, no, never, eat meat again, in order to keep my brother from falling.

For if a woman will not wear a veil, let her have her hair cut off too. Now if it is a dishonor for a woman to have her hair cut off, or her head shaved, let her wear a veil.

If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that your meetings may not bring on you judgment. I will settle in detail the matters that remain, when I come.

But you must earnestly continue to cultivate your higher spiritual gifts. And yet I will show you a way that is better by far:

Love never fails; if there are prophecies, they will be set aside; if now exist ecstatic speakings, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will soon be set aside;

But when perfection comes, what is imperfect will be set aside.

Again, indeed, if the bugle does not sound a call distinct and clear, who will prepare for battle?

What is my conclusion then? I will certainly pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind in action too. I will certainly sing with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind in action too. For if you give thanks with your spirit only,

In the law it is written, "By men of foreign languages and by the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord."

Hence, if the whole church has met and everybody speaks in ecstasy, and illiterate people or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are crazy?
