"Senseless," said I concerning laughter and pleasure, "How practical is this?"

I searched in my heart how to cherish my flesh with wine, while practising my heart with wisdom; and how to lay hold on folly, till I should see what was that good for the children of men which they should do under the heavens all the days of their life.

For there shall be no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; because everything is already forgotten in the days which come. And how dieth the wise even as the fool?

Say not, How is it that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not inquire wisely concerning this.

Consider the work of God, how that no man can make the thing straight, which he maketh crooked.

Your heart has knowledge how frequently others have been cursed by you.

"Look! I found this," said the Teacher, "while trying to find how the plan fits together.

Who is really wise? Who knows how to interpret this saying: "A person's wisdom improves his appearance, softening a harsh countenance."

for he knoweth not that which shall be; for who can tell him how it shall be?

All these things have I considered, and applied my mind unto every work that is under the Sun: how one man hath lordship upon another to his own harm.

When I applied my mind to know wisdom and to see the activities [of mankind] that take place upon the earth—how some men seem to sleep neither day nor night—

As thou knowest not what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child; even so thou knowest not the work of God who doeth all.

How sweet is the daylight, and how pleasant it is for someone's eyes to behold the sunshine!
