PAUL, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, according to the promise of life, which is in Christ Jesus,

to Timothy my beloved son; grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord.

who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus be fore the times of the ages,

but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has deprived death of its power, and brought life and incorruptibility to light through the gospel;

Hold fast the form of sound words which you have heard from me, in faithfulness and in love which is in Christ Jesus.

Do you, therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus;

Do you, there fore, suffer evil, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

Remember that Jesus Christ, of the posterity of David, was raised from the dead, according to my gospel;

For this reason I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

And all that will live godly in Christ Jesus, shall suffer persecution.

and that from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise in order to salvation, through faith that is in Christ Jesus.

I charge you, therefore, before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom,
