And they were offended by him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his [own] hometown and in his [own] household."

and he said to his servants, "This is John the Baptist! He has been raised from the dead, and for this [reason] miraculous powers are at work in him."

Now [when it] was evening, the disciples came to him saying, "The place is desolate and the hour {is late}. Release the crowds so that they can go away into the villages [and] purchase food for themselves."

But the disciples, [when they] saw him walking on the sea, were terrified, saying, "It is a ghost!" and they cried out in fear.

And Peter answered him [and] said, "Lord, if {it is you}, command me to come to you on the water!"

But you say, 'Whoever says to his father or his mother, "Whatever {benefit you would have received} from me [is] a gift [to God],"

It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth--this defiles a person."

But Peter answered [and] said to him, "Explain this parable to us."

Do you not understand that everything that enters into the mouth goes into the stomach and is evacuated into the latrine?

But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came up [and] asked him, saying, "Send her away, because she is crying out after us!"

And he answered [and] said, "It is not right to take the children's bread and throw [it] to the dogs!"

So he answered [and] said to them, "[When] evening comes you say, '[It will be] fair weather because the sky is red,'

and early in the morning, 'Today [it will be] stormy weather, because the sky is red [and] darkening.' You know how to evaluate correctly the appearance of the sky, but you are not able [to evaluate] the signs of the times.

So they were discussing [this] among themselves, saying, "[It is] because we did not take bread."

Now [when] Jesus came to the region of Caesarea {Philippi}, he began asking his disciples, saying, "Who do people say [that] the Son of Man is?"

And Jesus answered [and] said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal [this] to you, but my Father [who is] in heaven.

So Peter answered [and] said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good [that] we are here! If you want, I will make here three shelters, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah."

And [as] they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them saying, "Tell no one the vision until the Son of Man is raised from the dead."

And he answered [and] said, "Elijah indeed is coming, and will restore all [things].

But I say to you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did with him whatever they wanted. In the [same] way also the Son of Man is going to suffer [at] their hands."

Now [as] they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men,

At that time the disciples came up to Jesus, saying, "Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?"

Woe to the world because of causes for stumbling, for [it is] a necessity [that] causes for stumbling come; nevertheless, woe to the person through whom the cause for stumbling comes.

And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw [it] from you! It is better for you to enter into life crippled or lame than, having two hands or two feet, to be thrown into the eternal fire!

And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw [it] from you! It is better for you to enter into life one-eyed than, having two eyes, to be thrown into fiery hell!

And if he refuses to listen to them, tell [it] to the church. But if he refuses to listen to the church also, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

Should you not also have shown mercy to your fellow slave as I also showed mercy to you?'

They said to him, "Why then did Moses command [us] to give a document--a certificate of divorce--and to divorce her?"

For there are eunuchs who were born as such from [their] mother's womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by people, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves [eunuchs] for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who is able to accept [this], let him accept [it]."

And again I say to you, it is easier [for] a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich person into the kingdom of God."

Then Peter answered [and] said to him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed you. What then will there be for us?"

"For the kingdom of heaven is like a man--the master of the house--who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.

And to those [people] he said, 'You also go into the vineyard, and I will give you whatever is right.'

They said to him, 'Because no one hired us.' He said to them, 'You go also into the vineyard.'

Take [what is] yours and go! But I want to give to this last [person] [the same] as [I gave] to you also.

Is it not permitted for me to do whatever I want with [what is] mine? Or is your eye evil because I am generous?'

And [as] Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples by themselves and said to them on the way,

He said to them, "You will indeed drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grant, but [is] for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father."

And [as] they were going out of Jericho, a large crowd followed him.

And behold, [there were] two blind men sitting beside the road. [When they] heard that Jesus was passing by, they called out, saying, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!"

And the crowd rebuked them so that they would be quiet. But they called out all the more, saying, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!"

So the disciples went and did just as Jesus directed them,

And the crowds who went ahead of him and the ones who followed were shouting, saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed [is] the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest [heaven]!"

And [when] he entered into Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, "Who is this?"

And he said to them, "It is written, 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a cave of robbers!"

Now early in the morning, [as he] was returning to the city, he was hungry.

From where was the baptism of John--from heaven or from men?" And they began to discuss [this] among themselves, saying, "If we say 'From heaven,' he will say to us, 'Why then did you not believe him?'

But if we say, 'From men,' we are afraid of the crowd, because they all look upon John as a prophet."

For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did believe him. And [when] you saw [it], you did not even change your minds later [so as] to believe in him.

But [when] the tenant farmers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and have his inheritance!'

Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected, this has become {the cornerstone}. This came about from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?

and [although they] wanted to arrest him, they were afraid of the crowds, because they looked upon him as a prophet.

Again he sent other slaves, saying, 'Tell those who have been invited, "Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fattened [cattle] have been slaughtered, and everything [is] ready. Come to the wedding celebration!" '

Then he said to his slaves, 'The wedding celebration is ready, but those who had been invited were not worthy.

Therefore, go out to the [places where] the roads exit the city and invite to the wedding celebration as many [people] as you find.'

Therefore tell us what you think. Is it permitted to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"

And he said to them, "Whose image and inscription [is] this?"

saying, "Teacher, Moses said if someone dies without having children, his brother is to marry his wife and {father} descendants for his brother.

"Teacher, which commandment [is] greatest in the law?"

saying, "What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?" They said to him, "David's."

Therefore do and observe everything that they tell you, but do not do as {they do}, for they tell [others to do something] and do not do [it themselves].

But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' because one is your teacher, and you are all brothers,

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees--hypocrites!--because you travel around the sea and the dry [land] to make one convert, and when he becomes [one], you make him twice as much a son of hell [as] you [are]!

"Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing! But whoever swears by the gold of the temple is bound [by his oath].'

Fools and blind [people]! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that makes the gold holy?
