And when this letter has been read to you, see that it is also read in the church of the Laodiceans; also, see that you read the letter that reaches you from Laodicea.

We always thank God for you all when we mention you constantly in our prayers,

no, we behaved gently when we were among you, like a nursing mother cherishing her own children,

Brothers, you recollect our hard labour and toil, how we worked at our trade night and day, when we preached the gospel to you, so as not to be a burden to any of you.

when 'all's well' and 'all is safe' are on the lips of men, then all of a sudden Destruction is upon them, like pangs on a pregnant woman ??escape there is none.

and repay you who are troubled (as well as us) with rest and relief, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven together with the angels of his power

when he comes to be glorified in his saints and marvelled at in all believers on that day (for our testimony has found confirmation in your lives).

Do you not remember I used to tell you this when I was with you?

We used to charge you even when we were with you, 'If a man will not work, he shall not eat.'

As I asked you when I was on my way to Macedonia, stay where you are at Ephesus and warn certain individuals against teaching novelties

You have a gift that came to you transmitted by the prophets, when the presbytery laid their hands upon you; do not neglect that gift.

(When a widow has children or grandchildren, they must learn that the first duty of religion is to their own household, and that they should make some return to those who have brought them up. In God's sight this is an acceptable thing.)

Refuse to put young widows on the list, for when their wanton desires alienate them from Christ, they want to marry
