So they went back and told him, and he said, “This fulfills the Lord’s word that He spoke through His servant Elijah the Tishbite: ‘In the plot of land at Jezreel, the dogs will eat Jezebel’s flesh.

Jezebel’s corpse will be like manure on the surface of the field in the plot of land at Jezreel so that no one will be able to say: This is Jezebel.’”

And to Ahab seventy sons in Shomeron. And Jehu will write letters and send to Shomeron to the chiefs of Jezreel, the old men, and to Ahab's nourishers, saying,

“Now, when this letter comes to you, since your master’s sons are with you, as well as the chariots and horses and a fortified city and the weapons,

And they will fear greatly, greatly, and say, Behold, two kings stood not before him, and how shall we stand.

And he that was over the house, and he that was over the city, the elders also, and the bringers up of the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are thy servants, and will do all that thou shalt bid us; we will not make any king: do thou that which is good in thine eyes.

Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, If ye be mine, and if ye will hearken unto my voice, take ye the heads of the men your master's sons, and come to me to Jezreel by to morrow this time. Now the king's sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, which brought them up.

When the letter came to them, they took the king’s sons and slaughtered all 70, put their heads in baskets, and sent them to Jehu at Jezreel.

And a messenger will come and announce to him, saying, They brought the heads of the king's sons. And he will say, Put them two heaps at the door of the gate till the morning.

And it came to pass in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, Ye be righteous: behold, I conspired against my master, and slew him: but who slew all these?

Know then that {the word of Yahweh will not fail} which Yahweh spoke concerning the house of Ahab; Yahweh has done what he spoke by the hand of his servant Elijah.

So Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his kinsfolks, and his priests, until he left him none remaining.

Then he set out and went on his way to Samaria. On the way, while he was at Beth-eked of the Shepherds,

And Jehu found the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, and he will say, Who are ye? and they will say, We the brethren of Ahaziah; and we shall go down for the peace of the sons of the king and the sons of power.

And he said, Take them alive! And they took them alive, and slew them at the well of the meeting-place, forty-two men; and he left not one of them remaining.

And he will go from thence and find Jehonadab son of Rechab at his meeting: and he will bless him, and say to him, Is thy heart straight, as my heart with thy heart? and Jehonadab will say. It is. And it is, give me thy hand. And he will give his hand; and he will bring him up to him in the chariot

And he will say, Come with me, and see in my being zealous to Jehovah. And they caused him to ride with him in his chariot

And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained unto Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed him, according to the saying of the LORD, which he spake to Elijah.

And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.

Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal; whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.

And Jehu will say, Consecrate an assembly to Baal, and they will call.

And Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was full from one end to another.

And he said unto him that was over the vestry, Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments.

And Jehu will come, and Jehonadab son of Rechab, to the house of Baal, and he Will say to the servants of Baal, Search and see, lest there is here with you of the servants of Jehovah, but the servants of Baal only.

They came to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had stationed for himself eighty men outside, and he said, "The man who lets [anyone] escape from the men who I am {entrusting to you}, {he will pay with his life}!"

And it will be when they finished doing the burnt-offering, and Jehu will say to the runners and to the third rulers, Go in; strike them; a man shall not go forth. And they will strike them with the mouth of the sword and the runners and the thirds will cast out, and they will go even to the city of the house of Baal.

And they will bring forth the pillars of the house of Baal, and they will burn them.

And they will lay waste the images of Baal, and they will lay waste the house of Baal, and they will set it for a sink even to this day.

And Jehu will destroy Baal out of Israel.

Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, to wit , the golden calves that were in Beth-el, and that were in Dan.

And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.

But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.

In those days the LORD began to cut Israel short: and Hazael smote them in all the coasts of Israel;

From Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.

And Jehu will lie down with his fathers, and they will bury him in Shomeron. And Jehoahaz his son will reign in his stead.

And Jehosheba daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, will take Joash son of Ahaziah, and steal him from the midst of the king's sons being slain, him and his nurse in the bed-chamber, and they will hide him from the face of Athaliah, and he was not killed.

He remained with her in the temple of Yahweh, hidden for six years [while] Athaliah was reigning over the land.

And in the seventh year Jehoida will send and take the captains of hundreds for executioners, and for runners, and he will bring them to him to the house of Jehovah, and he will cut out to them a covenant, and he will cause them to swear in the house of Jehovah, and he will cause them to see the king's son.

and commanded them, saying - This, is the thing which ye must do, - A third part of you, will be coming in on the sabbath, and keeping the watch of the house of the king;

"Here's what we'll do: A third of you will enter here on this coming Sabbath dressed as guardians of the watch for the king's palace, with a third of you at the Sur gate, and a third at the gate behind the guards. Keep watch over the palace and defend it.

And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD about the king.

You must surround the king all about, each with his weapon in his hand; whoever comes to the ranks must be killed. Be with the king {wherever he goes}."

And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.

And the priest will give to the captains of hundreds the spears: and shields: which were to king David, Which were in the house of Jehovah.

So the royal runners stood, each [with] his weapons in his hand, from the side of the temple to the south up to the side of the temple on the north, around the altar and around the temple, about the king all around.

Then he made the king's son come out, and put the crown on him and the arm-bands, and made him king, and put the holy oil on him; and they all, making sounds of joy with their hands, said, Long life to the king.

When Athaliah heard all of the commotion coming from those who were guarding the people, she approached the people who were in the LORD's Temple.

And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.

And Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds that had the rule of the host, and said to them, "Bring her without the wall. And if any follow her, let him die with the sword. For the priest said, "She may not be slain in the house of the LORD."

And they will put their hands upon her; and she will go the way of the entrance of the, horses of the king's house: and she will die there.

And Jehoida will cut out the covenant between Jehovah and between the king, and between the people, to be for a: people to Jehovah; and between the king and between the people.

And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.

And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king's house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.

And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king's house.

In the seventh year to Jehu, Jehoash reigned; and forty years he reigned in Jerusalem And his mother's name Zibiah, from the Well of the Oath.

And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, even the money of every one that passeth the account, the money that every man is set at, and all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD,

do the priests take to them, each from his acquaintance, and they strengthen the breach of the house, in all places where there is found a breach.'

And it will be in the year the twenty and third year to king Jehoash, and the priests strengthened not the breach of the house.

Then King Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest and the [other] priests and said to them, “Why are you not repairing the damage of the house (temple)? Now then, do not take any more money from your acquaintances, but turn it all over for [the repair of] the damages of the house.” [You are no longer responsible for this work. I will take it into my own hands.]

And the priests will consent not to take silver from the people, and not to strengthen the breach of the house.

But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of the LORD: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the LORD.

And when they saw that there was much money in the chest, the king's scribe and the high priest came and put it in bags, noting the amount of all the money there was in the house of the Lord.

And they gave the silver being prepared into the hand of those doing the work of those overseeing the house of Jehovah: and they will bring forth to the artificers of wood, and to the builders doing the house of Jehovah,

And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of the LORD, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.

For they gave that to all the workers, and they repaired the temple of Yahweh with it.

And they will not reckon with the men which they will give the silver into their hand to give to those doing the work, for they do in faith.

Then Hazael king of Aram will go up and war against Gath, and he will take it: and Hazael will set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and in the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.

And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

His servants rose up in rebellion, formed a conspiracy, and assassinated Joash in the palace at the terrace ramparts while he was on his way down to Silla.

And Jozachar son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad son of Shomer, his servants, will smite him, and he will die; and they will bury him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son will reign in his stead.

And he will do evil in the eyes of Jehovah, and go after the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin; he turned not away from them.

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, all their days.

And Jehoahaz will supplicate the face of Jehovah, and Jehovah will hear to him, for he saw the oppression of Israel, for the king of Aram oppressed them.

The LORD provided Israel with a deliverer, so they escaped the Aramean oppression while the descendants of Israel lived in tents as they had formerly.

For out of all his army, Jehoahaz had only fifty horsemen and ten carriages and ten thousand footmen; the king of Aram had given them up to destruction, crushing them like dust.

So Jehoahaz died, as did his ancestors, and he was buried in Samaria while his son Joash replaced him as king.

And in the thirtieth year and seventh year to Joash king of Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz will reign over Israel in Shomeron sixteen years.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin: but he walked therein.

And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

And Joash will lie down with his fathers, and Jeroboam will sit upon his throne, and Joash will be buried in Shomeron with the kings of Israel.

Now Elisha had become sick with the illness by which he would die. And Joash the king of Israel came down to him and wept over him and said, “O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!”

And Elisha will say to him, Take a bow and arrows. And he will take to him a bow and arrows.

And he will say to the king of Israel, Cause thine hand to ride upon the bow. And he will cause his hand to ride: and Elisha will put his hands upon the king's hands.

Then he said; Let the window be open to the east: and he got it open. Then Elisha said, Let the arrow go; and he let it go. And he said, The Lord's arrow of salvation, of salvation over Aram; for you will overcome the Aramaeans in Aphek and put an end to them.

And he will say, Take the arrows. And he will take. And he will say to the king of Israel, Strike the earth. And he will strike three times, and stand.

[Yet] the man of God became angry against him and said, "For striking five or six times, then you would have defeated Aram until finishing [them], but now you will defeat Aram [only] three times."

And Elisha will die, and they will bury him. And the troops of Moab will come against the land, the year came in.

And while they were putting a dead man into the earth, they saw a band coming; and they put the man quickly into the place where Elisha's body was; and the dead man, on touching Elisha's bones, came to life again, and got up on his feet.

And Jehovah will compassionate them, and he will pity them, and he will turn to them on account of his covenant with Abraham, Isaak, and Jacob; and he would not destroy them, and he cast them not from his face even till now.

And Hazael king of Aram will die; and Benhadad his son will reign in his stead.

And Jehoash son of Jehoahaz will turn back and take the cities out of the hand of Benhadad, son of Hazael, which he took out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father, in war. Three times Joash struck him, and he will turn back the cities of Israel.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.

And it will be when the kingdom was strengthened in his hand, and he will smite his servants striking the king his father.

However, he did not put the children of the murderers to death, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses where the Lord commanded, “Fathers must not be put to death because of children, and children must not be put to death because of fathers; instead, each one will be put to death for his own sin.”
