Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves. But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to the sanhedrins, and they will scourge you in their synagogues. And you shall be brought before governors and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them and the nations.

All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted and will kill you. And you will be hated of all nations for My name's sake. And then many will be offended, and will betray one another, and will hate one another. read more.
And many false prophets will rise and deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many will become cold. But he who endures to the end, the same shall be kept safe.

But you watch in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fully carry out your ministry.

Fools are afflicted because of their rebellion, and because of their iniquities.

He will deliver you in six troubles; yea, in seven no evil shall touch you.

Surely He will deliver you from the fowler's trap and from the destroying plague.

For You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from falling.

even to old age I am He; and to gray hairs I will bear you. I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

But they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like the neck of their fathers who did not believe in Jehovah their God.

And in the time of his distress he trespassed even more against Jehovah, this King Ahaz.

and testified against them that You might bring them again to Your Law. But they acted proudly and did not listen to Your commandments, but sinned against Your judgments (which if a man do, he shall live in them), and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed, nor could they blush; therefore they shall fall among those who fall. At the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, says Jehovah.

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the coming glory to be revealed in us.

And Jehovah said, I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt; I have heard their cry because of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows.

Man born of woman is of few days, and full of trouble.

This is my comfort in my affliction; for Your Word has given me life.

But He, full of pity, forgave their iniquity, and did not destroy them; yea, many times He turned His anger away, and did not stir up all His wrath.

Many times He delivered them, but they rebelled in their counsel and sank in their iniquities. And He looked on their affliction when He heard their cry; and He remembered His covenant for them, and was moved to pity, according to the multitude of His mercies. read more.
And He gave them to tender mercies before the face of all their captors.

And so Jehovah waits to be gracious to you. And therefore He is exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For Jehovah is a God of judgment; blessed are all those who wait for Him. For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; you shall weep no more; He will be very gracious to you at the voice of your cry. When He hears it, He will answer you. for whom Jehovah loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

for whom the Lord loves He chastens, and He scourges every son whom He receives." If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons, for what son is he whom the father does not chasten?

You have allowed men to ride at our head; we have gone through fire and through water, but You have brought us out to plenty.

Only, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of Jehovah to blaspheme, this child born to you shall surely die.

If his children forsake My Law, and do not walk in My judgments; if they profane My Precepts, and do not keep My Commandments; then I will visit their wickedness with the rod, and their sin with stripes.

For the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry and struck him; I hid Myself, and was angry, and he went on turning away in the way of his heart.

and said, O son of the Devil, full of all deceit and all craftiness, enemy of all righteousness, will you not stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is on you. And you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a while. And immediately a mist and a darkness fell on him, and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

and call on Me in the day of trouble; and I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.

Blessed is the man whom You chasten, O Jehovah, to teach him out of Your Law;

Jehovah will hold him up on the bed of sickness; You will change all his bed in his illness.

If I walk in the midst of trouble, You will give me life; You shall stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand shall save me.

O my God, my soul is cast down within me; therefore I will remember You from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermons, from mount Mizar.

I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing; I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

When I thought deeply in order to understand this, it was painful for me,

There we sat down by the rivers of Babylon; also, we wept when we remembered Zion.

And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, Good is the Word of Jehovah which you have spoken. And he said, Is it not good if peace and truth are in my days?

But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

But if He says this, I have no delight in you; behold me, and let Him do to me as seems good to Him.

Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted and will kill you. And you will be hated of all nations for My name's sake.

But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.

persecutions, afflictions, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra. What persecutions I endured! But the Lord delivered me out of all. Yea, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

Though the fig tree shall not blossom, and fruit is not on the vines; the labor of the olive fails, and the fields yield no food. The flock is cut off from the fold, and no herd is in the stalls; yet I will rejoice in Jehovah, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for your reward in Heaven is great. For so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Rejoice in that day and leap for joy. For behold, your reward is great in Heaven. For so their fathers did according to these things to the prophets.

For His anger is only a moment; in His favor is life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

He will not always chasten, nor will He keep His anger forever.

For a little moment I have left you; but with great mercies I will gather you. In a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; but with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you, says Jehovah your Redeemer.

You feed them with the bread of tears; and give them tears to drink in great measure.

Yet there will be no gloom for her who was in anguish, as in the former time. He degraded the land of Zebulun, and the land of Naphtali, so afterwards He will glorify the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the nations.

Do not fear, O Jacob My servant, says Jehovah, for I am with you. For I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you. But I will not make a full end of you, but correct you in measure; yet I will not leave you wholly unpunished.

If He passes through and shuts up, or gathers together, then who can turn Him back?

Shall the axe boast itself against him who chops with it? Shall the saw magnify itself against him who moves it? As if the rod could wave those who lift itself up! As if a staff could raise what is not wood!

forming the light and creating darkness; making peace and creating evil. I Jehovah do all these things.

as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing all things.

who now rejoice in my sufferings on your behalf, and I fill up the things lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh, on behalf of His body, which is the church;

As I have seen, the ones who plow iniquity and sow wickedness reap the same.

His bones are full of his youthful vigor, but it lies down with him in the dust.

and they shall eat the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own desires.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Behold, blessed is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.

While he still talked with them, behold, the messenger came down to him. And he said, Behold, this evil is from Jehovah. Why should I wait for Jehovah any longer?

For affliction does not come forth from the dust, nor does trouble spring up out of the ground;

each one's work shall be revealed. For the Day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try each one's work as to what kind it is.

Blessed is the man who endures temptation, because having been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

Woe is me, my mother, that you have borne me, a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have not loaned, nor have men loaned to me; yet every one curses me.

Woe is me! For I am like the gatherings of summer fruits, like the grape-gleanings of the vintage. There is no cluster to eat; my soul desires the first-ripe fruit.

And after all that has come on us for our evil deeds and for our great sin, since You our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such an escape as this,

He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

I have spoken these things to you so that you might have peace in Me. In the world you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.

confirming the souls of the disciples, calling on them to continue in the faith and that through much tribulation we must enter into the kingdom of God.

My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint on my self; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

For my life is ending with grief, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones have wasted away.

To the woman He said, I will greatly increase your sorrow and your conception. In pain you shall bear sons, and your desire shall be toward your husband, and he shall rule over you. And to Adam He said, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it! The ground is cursed for your sake. In pain shall you eat of it all the days of your life. It shall also bring forth thorns and thistles to you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. read more.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Jehovah delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.

And Samuel told him all the words, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is Jehovah; let Him do what seems good to Him.

And if You are going to part this way with me, I beg You to kill me at once, if I have found favor in Your sight, and let me not see my misery.

For you both sympathized with my bonds and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that you have in Heaven a better and an enduring substance.

And he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he begged for his life, that he might die. And he said, It is enough. O Jehovah, take away my life. For I am no better than my fathers.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; nor shall the flame kindle on you.

Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

You have proved my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me, and You will find nothing; my thoughts do not pass beyond my mouth.

And He said to them, What words are these that you have with one another as you walk, and are so sad?

And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord God, why have You at all brought this people over Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites, to destroy us? And, oh that we had been content and lived on the other side Jordan!

And he not being persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.

For His anger is only a moment; in His favor is life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

He is like a man who built a house and dug deep and laid the foundation on a rock; and a flood occurring, the stream burst against that house and could not shake it; for it was founded on a rock.

Then indeed they departed from the presence of the sanhedrin, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to be shamed for His name.

for you shall forget your misery, and you shall remember it as waters that pass away.

And he said, I came naked out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there. Jehovah gave, and Jehovah has taken away. Blessed be the name of Jehovah.

And He said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to You. Take away this cup from Me. Yet not what I will, but what You will.

Then Jesus said to Peter, Put up your sword into the sheath. The cup which My Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?

And He went a little further and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.

saying, Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me. Yet not My will, but Yours be done.

And after all that has come on us for our evil deeds and for our great sin, since You our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such an escape as this,

He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

And Samuel lay until morning, and opened the doors of the house of Jehovah. And Samuel feared to show Eli the vision. And Eli called Samuel and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I. And Samuel told him all the words, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is Jehovah; let Him do what seems good to Him.

And after laying on them many stripes, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailor to keep them safely; who, having received such a command, thrust them into the inner prison and made their feet fast in the stocks. And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door on him and went out. It is neither new moon nor sabbath. And she said, It is well. And she saddled an ass and said to her servant, Drive and go forward! Do not hold back your riding for me unless I tell you. And she went and came to the man of God, to Mount Carmel. And it happened when the man of God saw her afar off, he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, the Shunammite. Please run now to meet her, and say to her, Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the boy? And she answered, Well! And she came to the man of God to the hill, and she caught him by the feet. And Gehazi came near to push her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone, for her soul is troubled within her. And Jehovah has hidden it from me and has not told me. And she said, Did I desire a son from my lord? Did I not say, Do not deceive me? Then he said to Gehazi, Bind up your loins and take my staff in your hand, and go. If you meet any man, do not greet him. And if any greet you, do not answer him again. And lay my staff on the face of the child. And the mother of the child said, As Jehovah lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. And he arose and followed her. And Gehazi passed on before them and laid the staff on the face of the child. But there was no voice nor hearing. And he turned back to meet him and told him, saying, The boy has not awakened. And Elisha had come to the house. And behold, the boy was dead, and laid out on his bed. And he went in and shut the door on the two of them, and prayed to Jehovah. And he went up and lay on the boy, and put his mouth on his mouth and his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands. And he stretched himself on the boy. And the flesh of the boy became warm. And he returned and walked in the house to and fro. And he went up and stretched himself on him. And the boy sneezed seven times, and the boy opened his eyes. And he called Gehazi and said, Call this Shunammite. And he called her, and she came in to him. And he said, Take up your son! And she went in and fell at his feet and bowed to the ground, and took up her son, and went out.

And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, and put incense on it, and offered strange fire before Jehovah, which He had not commanded them. And there went out fire from Jehovah and devoured them, and they died before Jehovah. Then Moses said to Aaron, It is that which Jehovah spoke, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

But when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fastings; and my prayer returned into my own bosom.

Then the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting. And diversions were not brought before him; and his sleep fled from him.
