I am a friend to all who fear You,
to those who keep Your precepts.

So follow the way of good people,
and keep to the paths of the righteous.

The one who walks with the wise will become wise,
but a companion of fools will suffer harm.

But now I am writing you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer who is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or verbally abusive, a drunkard or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person.

Therefore, do not become their partners.

For I have chosen him so that he will command his children and his house after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. This is how the Lord will fulfill to Abraham what He promised him.”

He was a devout man and feared God along with his whole household. He did many charitable deeds for the Jewish people and always prayed to God.

But if it doesn’t please you to worship Yahweh, choose for yourselves today the one you will worship: the gods your fathers worshiped beyond the Euphrates River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. As for me and my family, we will worship Yahweh.”

A centurion’s slave, who was highly valued by him, was sick and about to die.

Discipline your son, and it will bring you peace of mind

Solomon’s proverbs:

A wise son brings joy to his father,
but a foolish son, heartache to his mother.

The father of a righteous son will rejoice greatly,
and one who fathers a wise son will delight in him.

My son, don't forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commands; for they will bring you many days, a full life, and well-being. Never let loyalty and faithfulness leave you. Tie them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. read more.

So Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite replied: I am young in years, while you are old; therefore I was timid and afraid to tell you what I know. I thought that age should speak and maturity should teach wisdom.

Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

Joseph hitched the horses to his chariot and went up to Goshen to meet his father Israel. Joseph presented himself to him, threw his arms around him, and wept for a long time.

A wise son responds to his father’s discipline,

Just then someone came up and asked Him, “Teacher, what good must I do to have eternal life?”

holding to the faithful message as taught, so that he will be able both to encourage with sound teaching and to refute those who contradict it.

But you must say the things that are consistent with sound teaching.

Remember your leaders who have spoken God’s word to you. As you carefully observe the outcome of their lives, imitate their faith.

Let no one despise your youth; instead, you should be an example to the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

Their subordinates also oppressed the people, but I didn't do this, because of the fear of God. Instead, I devoted myself to the construction of the wall, and all my subordinates were gathered there for the work. We didn't buy any land. There were 150 Jews and officials, as well as guests from the surrounding nations at my table. Each day, one ox, six choice sheep, and some fowl were prepared for me. An abundance of all kinds of wine was [provided] every 10 days. But I didn't demand the food allotted to the governor, because the burden on the people was so heavy. Remember me favorably, my God, for all that I have done for this people.

The Lord is good and upright;
therefore He shows sinners the way.

You are good, and You do what is good;
teach me Your statutes.

However, do this with gentleness and respect, keeping your conscience clear, so that when you are accused, those who denounce your Christian life will be put to shame.

having faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and have suffered the shipwreck of their faith.

For this is our confidence: The testimony of our conscience is that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you, with God-given sincerity and purity, not by fleshly wisdom but by God’s grace.

This saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them.

I always do my best to have a clear conscience toward God and men.

Someone named Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good reputation with all the Jews residing there,

They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, who has a good reputation with the whole Jewish nation, was divinely directed by a holy angel to call you to his house and to hear a message from you.”

A good name is to be chosen over great wealth;

Therefore, brothers, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and wisdom, whom we can appoint to this duty.

with a holy calling,
not according to our works,
but according to His own purpose and grace,

Why is that? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone.

In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. She was always doing good works and acts of charity.

For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you took care of Me; I was in prison and you visited Me.'

We recall, in the presence of our God and Father, your work of faith, labor of love, and endurance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ,

Remember me for this, my God, and don’t erase the deeds of faithful love I have done for the house of my God and for its services.

Brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the Lord’s name as an example of suffering and patience.

For I have given you an example that you also should do just as I have done for you.

For you were called to this,
because Christ also suffered for you,
leaving you an example,
so that you should follow in His steps.

It is not that we don’t have the right to support, but we did it to make ourselves an example to you so that you would imitate us.

The Spirit of the Lord God is on Me,
because the Lord has anointed Me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives
and freedom to the prisoners;

How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of the herald,
who proclaims peace,

The angel answered him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and tell you this good news.

Zion, herald of good news,
go up on a high mountain.

raise your voice loudly.

Say to the cities of Judah,
“Here is your God!”

Look to the mountains—

Good news from a distant land
is like cold water to a parched throat.

He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people for His own possession, eager to do good works.

This saying is trustworthy. I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed God might be careful to devote themselves to good works. These are good and profitable for everyone.

In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It’s no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled on by men.

Salt is good, but if the salt should lose its flavor, how can you make it salty? Have salt among yourselves and be at peace with one another.”

For the Lord’s message rang out from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place that your faith in God has gone out. Therefore, we don’t need to say anything,

For you, wife, how do you know whether you will save your husband? Or you, husband, how do you know whether you will save your wife?

For I know your eagerness, and I brag about you to the Macedonians: “Achaia has been prepared since last year,” and your zeal has stirred up most of them.

Instruct them to do what is good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, willing to share,

And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works,

And I will also make every effort that you may be able to recall these things at any time after my departure.

In the twentieth year of Israel's King Jeroboam, Asa became king of Judah; he reigned 41 years in Jerusalem. His grandmother's name was Maacah daughter of Abishalom. Asa did what was right in the Lord's eyes, as his ancestor David had done. read more.
He banished the male shrine prostitutes from the land and removed all of the idols that his fathers had made. There was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel throughout their reigns. Israel's King Baasha went to war against Judah. He built Ramah in order to deny anyone access to Judah's King Asa. So Asa withdrew all the silver and gold that remained in the treasuries of the Lord's temple and the treasuries of the royal palace and put it into the hands of his servants. Then King Asa sent them to Ben-hadad son of Tabrimmon son of Hezion king of Aram who lived in Damascus, saying, "There is a treaty between me and you, between my father and your father. Look, I have sent you a gift of silver and gold. Go and break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so that he will withdraw from me." Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel. He attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maacah, all Chinneroth, and the whole land of Naphtali. When Baasha heard [about it], he quit building Ramah and stayed in Tirzah. Then King Asa gave a command to everyone without exception in Judah, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and the timbers Baasha had built it with. Then King Asa built Geba of Benjamin and Mizpah with them. The rest of all the events of Asa's [reign], along with all his might, all his accomplishments, and the cities he built, are written about in the Historical Record of Judah's Kings. But in his old age he developed a disease in his feet. Then Asa rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of his forefather David. His son Jehoshaphat became king in his place.

In the third year of Israel's King Hoshea son of Elah, Hezekiah son of Ahaz became king of Judah. He was 25 years old when he became king; he reigned 29 years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Abi daughter of Zechariah. He did what was right in the Lord's sight just as his ancestor David had done. read more.

Answer me, Lord,
for Your faithful love is good;
in keeping with Your great compassion,
turn to me.

Also, if any woman has an unbelieving husband, and he is willing to live with her, she must not leave her husband. A capable wife is her husband’s crown,
but a wife who causes shame
is like rottenness in his bones.

Who can find a capable wife?
She is far more precious than jewels.

She rewards him with good, not evil,
all the days of her life.

the women should be silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak, but should be submissive, as the law also says.

She selects wool and flax and works with willing hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from far away. She rises while it is still night and provides food for her household and portions for her servants. read more.
She evaluates a field and buys it; she plants a vineyard with her earnings. She draws on her strength and reveals that her arms are strong. She sees that her profits are good, and her lamp never goes out at night. She extends her hands to the spinning staff, and her hands hold the spindle. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and loving instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the activities of her household and is never idle.

A man who finds a wife finds a good thing
and obtains favor from the Lord.

The heart of her husband trusts in her,
and he will not lack anything good.

Her hands reach out to the poor,
and she extends her hands to the needy.

Her husband is known at the city gates,
where he sits among the elders of the land.

Her sons rise up and call her blessed.
Her husband also praises her:

A house and wealth are inherited from fathers,
but a sensible wife is from the Lord.

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so they could go and anoint Him.

and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and sicknesses: Mary, called Magdalene (seven demons had come out of her);

On the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark. She saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. So she ran to Simon Peter and to the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put Him!"

But Mary stood outside facing the tomb, crying. As she was crying, she stooped to look into the tomb. She saw two angels in white sitting there, one at the head and one at the feet, where Jesus' body had been lying. They said to her, "Woman, why are you crying?" "Because they've taken away my Lord," she told them, "and I don't know where they've put Him." read more.
Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, though she did not know it was Jesus. "Woman," Jesus said to her, "why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?" Supposing He was the gardener, she replied, "Sir, if you've removed Him, tell me where you've put Him, and I will take Him away." Jesus said, "Mary." Turning around, she said to Him in Hebrew, "Rabbouni!" is also used in Mk 10:51 -which means "Teacher."

but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Now Jesus loved Martha, her sister, and Lazarus.

While He was in Bethany at the house of Simon who had a serious skin disease, as He was reclining at the table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of pure and expensive fragrant oil of nard. She broke the jar and poured it on His head. But some were expressing indignation to one another: "Why has this fragrant oil been wasted? For this oil might have been sold for more than 300 denarii and given to the poor." And they began to scold her. read more.
Then Jesus said, "Leave her alone. Why are you bothering her? She has done a noble thing for Me. You always have the poor with you, and you can do good for them whenever you want, but you do not always have Me. She has done what she could; she has anointed My body in advance for burial. He also saw a poor widow dropping in two tiny coins. "I tell you the truth," He said. "This poor widow has put in more than all of them. For all these people have put in gifts out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on."

Sitting across from the temple treasury, He watched how the crowd dropped money into the treasury. Many rich people were putting in large sums. And a poor widow came and dropped in two tiny coins worth very little./ 64 of a daily wage, was the smallest Roman coin. Summoning His disciples, He said to them, "I assure you: This poor widow has put in more than all those giving to the temple treasury. read more.
For they all gave out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she possessed-all she had to live on."

When she had weaned him, she took him with her to Shiloh, as well as a three-year-old bull, two and one-half gallons of flour, and a jar of wine. Though the boy was [still] young, she took him to the Lord's house at Shiloh. Then they slaughtered the bull and brought the boy to Eli.
