And that servant who knew his master's will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating.

How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?

I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pomp of the arrogant, and lay low the pompous pride of the ruthless.

Blows that wound cleanse away evil; strokes make clean the innermost parts.

Condemnation is ready for scoffers, and beating for the backs of fools.

They shall stumble over one another, as if to escape a sword, though none pursues. And you shall have no power to stand before your enemies. Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him.

Discipline your son, for there is hope; do not set your heart on putting him to death.

He killed James the brother of John with the sword,

Then Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up and struck him down and put him to death. And he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.
